This article is very intriguing “plain a key difference in the myth-making of the two North American countries. ‘If a creation story explains, often in mythic terms, how a people came to a place and claimed it as their own, then Turner’s frontier thesis became the creation story of the U.S.´ this quotes also sum itself on what Slatta is saying this article about myths in the American history and present. Looking this myths and comparing to what I think of another city full myth like Paris, a person start to understand why Paris back in the 20s and 60s have a very different meaning to foreigners to Paris. Paris in a way represent France because of its size, population, Capitol city and by far the most vibrant city in Europe today and back in 20s and 60s. Within the country it’s self they are many myths that separate people most noticeable as the author stated was during the civil war. The south view black people as their property and they wanted to hold on to while the north wanted to liberate black people and so how let them be their own people and not slaves.

Managing Change

...under which change should be implemented in organizations. A very core part of the framework is evaluating and selecting the environment for change. BA’s huge mistake was trying to roll out the cards in the busiest time of the year. Tensions and workloads run high during summer time at BA an in trying to get the smart cards done at that time they overplayed their hand and came out looking selfish. Plans have to be developed for conducting change and implemented in phases. BA employed short sightedness in their strategy in not being able to convey to the employees the use, need, and advantages of the swipe card, they failed to get representatives of employees on board, and in trying to push through the changes in a short five weeks appeared as if they were strong arming BA employees. Werkman (2010) in his findings found that non-cooperation in an organisation was due to fragmentation and one of the major reasons for that was employees viewing management as on financial output oriented. Jick (1991) argued that change is impossible if the recipients of change are unwelcoming of it. Organizations need to, at the very least, prepare employees for changes, something BA failed in. Almost all studies agree that without constant and clarity in communication any change is hard to understand and even harder to implement. Therefore companies should work in streamlining and improving their communication and feedback channels in order to initiate, implement,...

...http://www.batimes.com/articles/change-management-101-for-business-analysts.html Business Analysts Times Change Management 101 for Business Analysts 26 September 2012, Jarett Hailes Change is hard for most people. There are a variety of reasons why change is hard, from our inherent need for a sense of security to having to deal with too much change at once to not following a process to increase the change’s likelihood of success. I know I am personally not looking forward to having to adapt my hyper-productive processes when Windows 8 is released and I may have to re-learn or find new ways to do things efficiently. As Business Analysts, we are often involved in projects or initiatives that cause a great deal of change within an organization. In some cases we are put on the front lines of the change, whether it is gathering requirements from skeptical stakeholders to supporting the review of a solution that was put in place too quickly and is now meeting strong resistance. In order to get our jobs done effectively in such situations, we need to understand how change is perceived by individuals and know how to help guide people through change within the context of our role. All Change is Personal In order to help people work through changes, we need to first understand that change occurs at the individual level. The overall organizational change that occurs is a result of the changes made by each individual. Every person will react to the same change in a different way based...

Bussiness Marketing

...demand is driven by availability. Examples of this practice can be found in construction suppliers, where construction firms will purchase cheaper building materials to increase their profit margins. Sales concept – this is commonly known as ‘the hard sell’, where a product or service is produced and personal selling and other high-pressure selling techniques are used to convince customers to part with their money. Marketing concept - unlike the alternatives above, the customer at the centre of all decisions before the product or service is developed. This can make business more efficient, by focusing investment on products that customers will need and use rather than investing in products that customers may not buy. SMART objectives * Specific – the objective must be clearly stated and focused * Measureable – in order for the business to see how it is performing against its objectives, it needs to be able to quantify its performance * Achievable – for an objective to be useful, it needs to be something that the business is in a position to achieve * Realistic – it is no good for a business to set itself unrealistic goals because it will inevitably fail; this is bad for morale, and worse for share prices * Time-related – the objectives must be related to a timescale, otherwise there will be no real impetus behind the objective and measurements of the...
