Nearly 10 typhoons hit Japan every year, having just 8 typhoons a year counts as having a few. The worst typhoon to hit Japan left five thousand missing or killed. Identically K. a character in Haruki Murakamis’ short story “The Seventh Man,” died by one. Although it was the main characters, The Seventh Mans’ idea to go outside to the beach after a small typhoon. K. went by his own choice. Although The Seventh Man was was entitled to watch K at the beach as the older figure between the two and K. being frail and small The Seventh Man took a dominant role and was of like a protector to K., but even so he should forgive himself because he did not live his life to his fullest, and punished himself until he was a middle aged man.

The death of K., would haunt him forever. He would live with the doubt he did not do his very best he could to save K.s’ life that day. “I was sure I yelled loud enough,” (Murakami para. 28). He truly would never know and putting such an idea on a small mind of a child's would be devastating to their mental stability. But i assure you that even though The seventh Man had to watch over K. he did not have to at that time, because K. had happened to yell out for The Seventh Man while he was walking down to the beach was not asked if he would have wanted to go but had gone by his own choice and no invitation. “Without a word, he came along with me.”(Murakami para. 20) The Seventh Man even so took the role of an adult and watched over K. at the beach doing so shows that no intentional harms would be shown or
