Citation: is when you refer to the work of other authors in the text of your own work.

Reference: each citation needs a reference at the end of the work. This gives you the full details of the source and should enable it to be traced.

Bibliography: a list of relevant items you have used in preparation of the assignment but are not necessarily cited in the text.

2. HOW TO CITE IN YOUR TEXT

2.1 Authors

If you are citing an author, there are two ways; direct and indirect. If you use direct then you would use it as a direct reference to an authors work. If it is indirect then you are using a statement more in your own words and then referencing the authors afterwards and usually in brackets.

2.1.1 Direct

To cite an author directly, use one of the below layouts:

• One author = Beaumont (2002, pp.33-35) states that … • More than one author, different work = Jones (1998) and Smith (1999) believe that … • Two authors, same work = Jones & Smith (1998) suggests that … • More than two authors for the same work = Jones et al (1998) believe that … • One author, different years = Jones (1992, 1995) found

The 750 word count includes in-text references but excludes the Reference List. (1) Introduction Care can be defined in terms of who delivers the care or the quality of care. Informal care is provided by the assistance of family and friends, while formal care can be thought of as government programs such as Home and Care Community Packages. For older adults, these kinds of care programs are “provided in the person’s own home, in special living accommodations, or in a mixture of these two” (From, Johansson, & Athlin 2009). People over the age of 65 years are defined as older adults (Ables et al. 1998). And apart from disabilities, older adults generally receive care in the area of instrumental daily activities. Instrumental daily activities include “shopping, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, managing finances, taking medications, and using transportation” (Jarvis, 2012, p. 833). Although the quality of care received is subjective, a study by From, Johansson , and Athlin (2009), showed that there is “a considerable amount of research reported on what constitutes good quality in the care of older people in a community setting, from the point of view of caregivers, relatives, and older adults”. Good quality care consists of being able to...

Guideline to Assignment

...Guidelines to write the Case Analytical Report There is no pre-set formula for preparing a case analysis because companies differ in focus, size, and complexity. Students must apply strategic management concepts and techniques they learn and experience to their case analyses. It is important to collect information about the company of the concerned case and its environment from various sources that are relevant and reliable. In writing the report, students are advised to discuss particular strategic issues that will concern the organization. Students are also advised to avoid vague terminology, redundant words, acronyms, abbreviations, and biased language in writing and presenting the reports. Tables, figures, and charts may be used to help communicate important issues. The case study report should be prepared collectively by all the members of the group. Each member of the group might research two or more of the steps and compile the information to formulate a proper structure for the report. Students must remember that their research should be done with the idea that they are acting as consultants to the organization or as a top-level management team. Students must identify current sources for company given in the case study and use them to write and analyze their cases. The submission of a successful case analytical report and obtaining an excellent grade will substantially depend on the extent to which the group designs and writes the report in an effective manner. Hence...

...candidate's own, either by extensive unacknowledged quotation or paraphrasing or by direct copying of another person's work” • secondly to allow you and whoever is assessing your work to be able to easily trace the original source if need be. You need to refer to your sources in two places- • in the body of your work • in the list of references at the end. What follows shows you how to do this for various types of material: books, journals and electronic resources, preceded by a section on how to deal with quotes. The Harvard system of referencing is used for printed sources. At present, this does not cover electronic sources, but we will be using a commonly used set of guidelines for the latter. Please read through the handout, and try the practical exercises in Parts 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 1.2 Using Quotations The following guidance on using quotations applies to all forms of material – books, journals and electronic items. It is appropriate to use quotations to support or illustrate points you wish to make in your assessed work, but they should be used relatively sparingly, and should be as brief as possible. The Harvard system requires you to use the author’s name, and then in brackets the year of publication and the page number on which the quote appears. Quotations of more than two lines in length should be indented. Note the use of the colon as well as to mark the boundary between your own words and the...
