...Decision-Making Process Paper 12-5-2011 University of Phoenix Decision-Making Process Paper I bout my first car at 21 years old as a birthday present to myself and I was unaware of how much went into the decision making process until then but soon came up with my own process of smaller decisions I had to make to factor into the purchase. When I first went to buy the car which was the major decision I had to determine the necessity of the car in my life, Whether or not financially I could manage a car payment and if I was willing to commit that much time to making the payments. Necessity of the Big Decision My first step as a consumer at 21 years old was determining how important a car was in my life and at the time it definitely was I was in college and participating in collegiate sports, volunteer coached high school track and field, attending college, and managing a social life it was very important in my future success that I have a reliable vehicle to get me to and from. The book talks about lack of structue decisions and uncertainty and risk and after reading them I somewhat implement some of the procedural steps without even knowing it. Financial Commitment My second step was to decide that at 21 years old I had to get a job and maintain that or another job long enough to make these car payments and commit to the length of the contract. There was certainty that I could manage the car payments especially because I just started a new job I...

Folk often wonder after making a decision if it was the right choice, will it affect the people around me, was this a good choice for my family, and will the decision affect them. The decision- making process should be one that makes a positive change. Can the decision making process work for organization as well as individuals. Before changing to the job that I have now, I had to decide if leaving the Register of Voters to take a job with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System would work out in my favor. Before making a hasty decision I listed my pros and cons to see what job will be the best, what job would I like working at, would there be room for advancement on the job, and which job had the best benefits. In making the right decision some of my decision- making came from that of the Stages of Decision-Making Process that...

...Motivation and Organizational Culture Paper Kimberly Y. Curry University of Phoenix (Axia College) HCA-250 Dennis Matricardi March 11, 2012 Motivation and Organizational Culture Paper Today’s topic of discussion is the role management should play in workplace psychology. In this discussion, I will be discussing a situation with Chinese immigrant by the name of Ayame Nakamaura. Ayame Nakamura is employed as a project manager for a pharmaceutical company. The management style for this pharmaceutical company is confrontational, and interferes with Ayame’s cultural beliefs. This particular style of management makes Ayame’s ability to receive feedback difficult to obtain, and affects her motivation to perform. In this discussion I will explain the role management Ayame should play in workplace psychology, how Ayame’s cultural beliefs might affect the way she receives feedback, and describe motivation techniques that could be implemented by management to increase Ayame’s motivation. As we know psychology is the study of human behavior. This includes the human thought process and human emotion. Psychology gives us an understanding of human nature and the way we interact with other people. When you combine psychology and the workplace together, it is basically the way an individual thinks and act in the workplace towards other employees. Management is an individual who supervises others work progress on the job. Management is usually over an entire department or...

Decision Making Process Paper

...Decision Making Process Paper A huge decision I had to make in my life was the decision to buy another home and move to the state of Washington. I had previously purchased a home in the state of Oregon and was underwater so to speak on it. For me, the uncertainty and risk were the biggest decisions for me to face. The housing market was in a downward spiral and had my own decision making process to go through. Does homeownership, with its ongoing responsibilities, suit your lifestyle? According to "Realtor.com" (2012), you are ready to buy a home if you have a steady income that can be documented, have saved enough money for a down payment, will be able to pay other bills while keeping your mortgage payments current and are prepared to keep the home for at least five years” (para. 7). I struggled to decide if these were things I would be able to do, and the decision making process for me was answering each of these questions carefully and thoughtfully. The decision making process can be different depending on how you approach it. In the course textbook, the decision making process involves six steps; Identifying and diagnosing the problem, generating alternative solutions, evaluating alternatives, making the choice, implementing the decision, and evaluating the decision. (Bateman & Snell, 2011). If I was to use this process to make a decision to buy a house, I would identify that the problem was deciding whether to make the life altering decision to buy a house. I would...

...Decision Making Case Study Monica Bellow CJA/444 1/28/2013 Jon Sowers Decision Making Case Study Law Enforcement Departments continually face scrutiny from the public due to abuse of authority, amounts of force used, and vehicular pursuits that end with serious injuries or fatalities. This essay discusses a case study involving Officer Raymond Ripley of Pineville County Sheriff’s Department, and situations the sheriff is now confronted with due to Officer Ripley’s behavior. Centralized Concerns Within the last year, Pineville County Sheriff’s Department suffered through a lawsuit pertaining to a vehicular pursuit involving a fourteen year old boy who was joy riding in his parents car. During the pursuit the boy was killed when the car crashed. (Peak, 2010. Ch.5) The incident sparked an outcry with the public for better policies, regulations and training. In an effort to appease the public and ease the departments’ scrutiny, the sheriff immediately changed the course of action policy taken involving a vehicular pursuit. Supervisors now call a halt to any vehicular pursuit that does not involve a violent crime, or dangerous situations of possibly ending in a liability. Another change made by the sheriff was that no warning shots are to be fired unless the situation warranted it. Every officer within the department has been appraised and trained in these new procedures. (Peak, 2010. Ch.5) Deputy Raymond Ripley of the...

Decision Making Process Paper

...Decision-Making Process MGT/230 Management Theory and Practice July 25, 2011 Sylvia Ramirez-Cahan Decision-Making Process For the past year I have been struggling with the decision of whether or not to continue my education. The factors that influenced my decision to pursue my Bachelors degree were the financial commitment, time, personal responsibilities, professional responsibilities, and the affect a Bachelors degree would have on my career. My decision process involved the following steps. First, I carefully reviewed my financial obligations, researched expected educational expenses, and researched options to finance my educational expenses. Next, I considered the time I would need to commitment to my courses, and examined my ability and readiness to prioritize my educational responsibilities with my personal and professional responsibilities. Last, I researched the benefits of a Bachelors degree and the potential affect it could have on my career. According to Bateman and Snell (2011), the decision-making process consists of the following stages: identify and diagnose the problem, generate alternative solutions, evaluate alternatives, make the choice, implement the decision, and evaluate the decision. In comparison, my decision process to continue my education involved three steps: identifying the problem, making the decision, and implementing the decision. In April I started classes one week after making my decision. If my...

Decision Making Process Paper

...Decision-Making Process Paper Management Theory and Practice, MGT/230 September 30, 2013 Decision-Making Process Paper Every day, individuals are faced with some of the hardest decision making processes. Over the years, Marvenia have worked for several companies that have provided her family with a roof over their heads and several other things to be grateful for. In 2009, she was faced with an opportunity to take a position with another company that offered her a better pay increase, lifelong benefits including 401k, paid vacation time, holiday pay, pension and much more. On her current job at the time, she was working part -time making minimum wage with no benefits. This paper will speak about a job changing decision Marvenia had to make to improve herself as well as her family. The Process The first step she had to make was to identify the problem. The problem was that the company whom she was currently working for was not paying enough money to provide for her children. Second, her current job only offered benefits to the full-time employees and she was only a part-time employee who made her ineligible for company benefits. The second and third step did not meet any of her needs at the time, so she went to the fourth step. The fourth step was to make a final decision. So she decided to go along with the job opportunity that was best fit for her and her children. She chose to work for the company who provided a better living opportunity as well as benefits...

...Jennifer Schatzman MGT/230 – Management Theory, and Practice September 30, 2013 Ronald Sprague Life is full of decisions. What to eat for breakfast, what to wear, or what to do with the next step in the journey of life. Different stages will present varying demands that will require decisions to be made. Every day, individuals are faced with opportunities, and with opportunities we are faced with decisions. This paper will briefly discuss just one decision that was recently presented in my life. I will discuss the steps taken to reach the decision, and the similarities to formal decision-making steps used in the business world. Finally, I will reflect whether or not my decision would have differed if formal steps had been used. I had a decision to make. I was going to have two children under the age of two. How would life work once I was done with maternity leave? What sort of life would our family have with the schedules we were currently doing? My husband’s work schedule was Monday through Friday, daytime, as teacher at an elementary school. My work schedule was Thursday through Saturday, and then Monday, overnight grave shifts that would get me home just in time for my husband to leave for work. How would I be able to care for my kids working this schedule? Would we even be able to afford anything in our area? Would I be able to change my schedule? Could we afford for me to change my schedule? Should I stay in...

...Decision-Making Process Paper Matthew Walker MGT/230 08/04/14 Tyler Allen Decision-Making Process Paper The process of making decisions can be broken down into various stages. These stages allow the decision maker to follow guidelines in making a sound decision. I can recall a big decision that I had to make in regards to transitioning our base of field operations to a separate city from where our corporate office was held. The process that I followed was a basic approach to making a business decision that best suited the business and would put the company in a position to maximize earning potential. I first identified the problem with running auto transport trucks out of a city where there wasn’t an abundance of loads to book from with even a smaller market for qualified auto transport drivers to operate our trucks. The company had taken part in a temporary contract shuttling vehicles out of Detroit where there was an overabundance of vehicles in need of transporting. I had previously identified another city, Chicago that was a healthy candidate to run the trucks out of. Both cities were within 3 to 5 hours of our corporate office in Indianapolis and had a significantly higher volume of loads to book from. I had to look at both cities and plan out how and where we could set up a terminal at. I identified locations and contacts in both metro areas and was prepared to make a move. The first city that I was leaning toward was Chicago. However when...

...Decision Making Process Carolyn Thiessen MGT/230 July 25, 2014 Wesley Page Decision Making Process In May 2013, the processing facility where I worked in Stockton was closing. They moved all the operations to West Sacramento and offered me a transfer to that facility. When this happened, I had to decide whether to take the transfer or to try and find another job with a different company. The first thing I took into consideration was the cost of commuting from Modesto to West Sacramento. I thought about the time it would take to commute, the cost of gas, and the added time away from my children. This was just like step one, identifying and diagnosing the problem, in the stages of the decision making process. The next step in the decision making process is to generate alternative solutions. I did this by thinking of alternatives to commuting or changing jobs. I explored the possibility of moving to Sacramento or transferring to an office closer to Modesto. I evaluated these alternatives before making my final decision. I discovered that I couldn’t afford to move to Sacramento, and it would also cause problems with my shared custody agreement. I put in for a transfer to an office closer to Modesto, but there were no positions available. After I had evaluated the alternatives, it assisted me in making the choice to quit and find a job with another company. When I had made my final decision I implemented the decision and gave my two-week notice to my boss. Now that...

Hca 250 Week 1 Cultural Consideratons

... this poor choice was made continually. A person, who repeatedly behaves in this way, may be shocked to hear how others in their work or social environment perceive them. The point is that frequently making poor choices will often lead to behavioral, psychological, and physical difficulties. Whereas, one example of a lifestyle choice that can enhance health and prevent illness is to eat and drink the right things. Skipping meals or overeating, along with just making poor nutritional choices can affect our health in a negative way. When we become more conscious of what we are eating and drinking, our overall wellbeing will dramatically improve. Another choice to consider is ensuring we are free from substances that can cause us harm or psychological damage, such as drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. These substances not only cause physical problems, but often affect our social relationships as well. Feelings such as depression and the inability to cope with everyday stressors may develop, and cause anxiety and other mental concerns to grow, which in turn causes additional physical effects. Above all, the suggestion of choosing good habits to develop in order to reduce your stress levels, such as getting enough exercise and creating some organization, will greatly affect your physical and mental health. Making time to work out and relieve some of your daily stress, and finding methods of organization that are comfortable for you, are both good habits to develop that......

...Decision-Making Process Paper Dameka Ford MGT/230 April 21, 2015 Ronald Sprague Decision-Making Process Paper I choose to speak on enrolling in school. I’ve had many decisions in my life to make, but this by far has been the hardest of all. The Problem with enrolling in school is, I took my age for one, and also I wanted to make sure I would be dedicated to my studies, Make sure that this decision was best for my future, and to make sure that the financial side would be cover, After looking at all the problems That I thought I had, I began to Generate alternative solutions for my problems. First, my age shouldn’t be a discouragement, when you have elderly people as old as 103 years of age still in school, to receive their diploma or degree. Second, I wanted to make sure that my time was dedicated to this, I’ve had to start and stop school before because I wasn’t given many options on way to keep my education going, I have a fulltime job as a care giver, I also have a small candle business, and currently a fulltime student. Third, It’s easy to take courses, but if this doesn’t relate to any of your plans for the future, then to me you would be wasting your time, And last but not least the Financial side of it, It’s costly to attend college. If you can get financial aid, please do any kind of help you can get would really be helpful. Meanwhile, my to do list was short and I then had to make the choices for my life. Before, attending UOP.
