Understanding Work-Related Injuries
When an employee is injured on-the- job, the injury must be reported to the employer within a certain time. Nearly all states need a statement in writing. When the state is notified, then the employer has to notify the state workers’ compensation office and the insurance carrier, also within a specific time. In some situations, a medical service order is given to the physician who provides treatment. For the most part, the injured worker must be attended to by a provider chosen by the employer or insurance carrier. Some employers have an agreement with a managed care organization for services. In these cases, the client must be examined and cared for by a physician in the managed care plan’s network. If the worker declines to agree with the request, services may not be permitted (Valerius, Bayes, Newby and Seggern, 2008).

...Final Project Part B Kaitlyn Maness HCR230 My financial policy is best suited to my medical office because it is lenient but at the same time we expect a professional relationship to be maintained. I would never want anyone to walk into a doctor’s office and feel like they have no choices. We offer maximum care for an affordable price to everyone. Those who have no insurance can still be seen and not expected to pay an arm and a leg and those who can’t afford care are given an option. Our office would see all ages and all cases and offer some time of solution for payment.       The basis of a strong medical office financial policy is an understanding between the medical office, the insurance company, and the patient. The medical office is responsible for verifying the patient’s coverage, verifying if a specific service is covered, and verify the co pay amount so it can be collected at the time of the visit or service. I think this is well outlined in our policy and should be understandable for the patient. The patient is responsible for paying their co pay at the time of the visit and paying any other balances then and there or within a reasonable time after they are billed. Our medical office staff will ensure that each patient is aware of our financial policies and how they affect them individually. If a member of the medical office staff does not enforce or explain the policies there will be repercussions. I will have our policies in at least 2 separate...

.... That way the patient will have an opportunity to work out a payment plan with the medical office or refuse the procedures. So that patients comprehend these policies the medical office can use recommendations, tools, or strategies. The appointment setter should always ask patients that are new and setting up an appointment about their insurance. That will aid the office and patient in knowing if the office accepts the patient’s insurance and if there is going to be an ending cost. If the office does not accept the patient’s insurance, the patient has the choice to locate a different provider that will accept their insurance. The medical staff should make sure that all signs in the office are big enough for their patients to read without difficulties....

Understanding Work Related Injuries

...Understanding Work Related Injuries Workers compensation was developed in the early 1900’s to provide employees who have been injured on the job with compensation for their injuries, and it protects employers from liability for employee’s injuries. The benefit of workers compensation really goes both ways, it not only provides a protection for the employer from lawsuits, but also provides the employee a sort of financial safety net so if they are injured on the job and cannot work they will have a means for supporting their family. If you do find yourself in this situation it helps to know who is responsible for what. If certain steps are not followed you can bet that your claim will be denied. In regards to HIPAA Privacy Rule, workers’ compensation claim information is not subject to the same confidentiality rules as with other medical records. The HIPAA privacy rule permits disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) for workers compensation purposes without the patient’s authorization. There is also no restriction on disclosure of any judicial or administrative proceedings in response to a court order, subpoena, or similar process. The information that is provided is what is necessary to file the claim. Individuals may not request a physician to restrict a disclosure of PHI for workers compensation purposes, however, the physician is restricted from disclosure of information about any previous conditions that are not directly related to the claim...

...Understanding Work related Injuries Vanessa Cleggs HCR/230 11/17/2013 Myrnell Martin Understanding Work related Injuries In the United States workers who become injured while at work was not able to receive any compensation for their loss of wages or help with medical bills. For a worker to receive any kind of assistance or reimbursement the worker would have to peruse legal action against their employer which could take many years they would also have to prove that the employer was negligent which could also prove too hard to do. By the year 1947 all states had to have workers compensation insurance. Workers compensation is a benefit that is designed to protect injured workers and their employers in case a worker is injured while on the job. The way that it protects the employer is because this insurance is paid into by the employer to pay coverage’s for medical bills and also loss wages this means these payments are not paid directly by the company which helps to protect the company. Protection that is provided through workers compensation for an employee is it will cover any medical cost that the employee may have due to the injury and also while the employee is off working it will provide loss wages payments to the employee. OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) has set laws and regulations in place to make sure that companies under its jurisdiction provide and safe and healthy place for customers and employees. Companies that are governed under...

Cultural relativism asserts that every culture has its own set of customs and beliefs, and that culture must be understood by the standards and values of the people within that culture.
