Communication Opinion Paper

The ability to communicate effectively is essential to any instructor. Communication skills must be developed, they do not occur automatically. This stems from experience. Any instructor or healthcare provider must understand the process that is involved in communication and become aware of common barriers to effective communication. ( Effective-Communication, 2010). The basic elements of communication take place when one person transmits ideas or feelings to another person or group of people. The process of effective communication is composed of three elements which the first, the source (sender, speaker, and transmitter or instructor), second is the symbols used in composing and transmitting the message (words, or signs), and third the receiver (listener, reader, or student). The key to effective communication is shared understanding of the information. In addition, to effective communication this involves to understanding the information. It involves sharing understanding of feeling, thoughts, wants and needs. When we communicate to others we need stop and think about when, where, why, and with whom you communicate. Communication is the key to creating provider-patient partnerships. The basic elements of effective communication differ from basic rules of health care communication. Yes, to achieve interpersonal communication it must be clear. The health care industry supports the collaborative communication efforts between doctors, nurses, specialist, and insurance companies and many other individuals. Interpersonal communication is the source that holds the industry together. It is a safeguard to customer satisfaction that can prevent medical mistakes. . By treating patients with dignity, respect, being honest and trustworthy in a professional relationship and maintaining patient confidentially we gain the patients
