Dear Stephanie,

Over the course of three weeks I have learned numerous ways to manage my stress and I have learned how important it is to be able to manage your stress. Being a teenager we know that stress is a big part of our lives because we have so much going on in our lives that we can lose focus. There are many things that can stress us out like homework; tests, finals, teachers, sports, parents, and friends but there are mechanisms on how to make it better. One way is meditation. Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus on a sound, object, or a focus on your breath, movement, and attention in order to increase awareness of the present moment. It helps to reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and strengthen personal and spiritual growth. Meditation can give your body some down time so it can rest physically and mentally. Meditation has been proven to help you sleep better; it will improve the quality of your seep so you can wake up feeling relaxed. Meditation can also help your immune system because being in high school we have learned that you can’t get sick and miss a day or you will be behind in work. If you only meditate for five minutes a day everyday for a week your mind will be a lot more clam and you will find it easier to focus and maintain information. As you keep on meditating you will see yourself improve and become more aware of how to meditate. Meditation can make you have a better outlook on life because your mind will be more relaxed and therefore you will be happier. Meditation can help you reduce your anxiety levels. Meditation can allow your body to have some time to think and reflect. If you mediate for long enough all your emotional problems will start to come to your mind and you just need to relax and let them flow. Make sure not to over react to your thoughts and don’t judge them. Just keep holding on to your strong mental focus. Never lose focus. Focus on your breath. Breathe in and out very slowly and just relax. You mind will eventually go into a peaceful and relaxing state of mind. You can learn the habits and practices of your mind when you focus and meditate. I hope you can try the idea of meditation so you can manage your types stress and see if you this will help you live a happier and more active lifestyle.
