If I start acting a certain kind of way towards you. You gonna feel some way. The sad thing is me and you got the same jealous &' sensitive ways. I may have had some wrong in the argument but you took it to another level that it shouldn't have went to if you say you loved me like your "child" . You come off about alot of stuff the wrong way. You stay throwing stuff in my face that gets on my nerves. Like the situation about my mama. Like respect it, that's my mama and when she kick me out, where imma go? Not to you cause you didn't open the door to me when I got put out. The thing that gets me is I really cared. You want me to be something I'm not. I'm sorry my mama don't let me stay out all night, don't care where I go, or stay with my boyfriend. I had two friends like that both of them got pregnant and ended up in the worst situations cause they mama didnt care. you don't respect my situation at all. You make everything about you but I'm selfish and I don't care. I didn't want to go nowhere this weekend that was my choice. I wanted to be to myself. You think I'm not human I'm not suppose to sleep or want to be to myself. You have those days. I never disrespected you in no kind of way. Like you want me to live this lifestyle that I don't. I'm sorry I'm

George Gascoigne's Heartbreak

...Ever since the beginning of storytelling, playwrights, authors, artists and filmmakers have been able to express heartbreak in various ways. George Gascoigne's’ “For That He Looked Not Upon Her” emphasizes the narrator’s heartbreak through his complex attitude of being distressed throughout this Shakespearean sonnet by using diction and imagery. Although, heartbreak is such a universal topic, Gascoigne is able to capture the feeling of still loving a woman, but refusing to even look at her due not wanting to become hurt by her a second time. This poem would be considered a Shakespearean sonnet because it is made up of 14 lines which contain quatrains and a couplet. The quatrains illustrate the problem and and the couplet is the last two lines which solve the problem. The poem also follows an “ABAB” rhyme scheme which helps determine it to be a Shakespearean sonnet. The central theme of this poem is love and heartbreak. It is...

The Glamour and Heartbreak of Scott Fitzgerald’s American Dream

...The Glamour and Heartbreak of Scott Fitzgerald’s American Dream When one is moving to the United States of America, all they must be able to think about is living the American Dream. They must imagine having a family, a nice house, a good job, money and maybe even being famous. Those who live in America must know that the American Dream is not an easy thing to achieve nor is it as great as it seems. Those lucky few who manage to achieve the American Dream sometimes get so caught up in all the glamour that they let it get to their heads. When that happens, the American Dream usually ends in heartbreak for that person. A perfect example of this situation was F. Scott Fitzgerald. He went from being a nobody to becoming a rich and successful American novel writer. Although, he did not stay that way for long as his doomed marriage, drinking problems, and partying habits put him on such a decline, that his books stopped being printed at one point. Therefore, no writer has more closely personified the glamour and heartbreak of the American Dream than F. Scott Fitzgerald in his early, middle, and late life. Even as a young man, Fitzgerald strived to achieve the American Dream for himself. In school, Fitzgerald gained a reputation as a show off. He used his high levelled writing skills as a way to become popular and become the centre of attention. In university, Fitzgerald began to seriously write. He began to write for the campus magazines and his lyrics for a Princeton musical caused...

Comparitive Essay on Restaurants

...Simons 1 Peyton Simons Mr. Bruhnke English I 19 April 2013 Heartbreak--Real or True? In many ways, we are the love of one's own life. Many times, we forget ourselves even when we neglect ourselves for another. Pablo Neruda and Derek Walcott explain their heartbreak in many different ways, but also in similar meanings. Walcott's way of explaining his heartbreak after love is powerful, appreciated, and understood. For example the "mirror" that a person owns represents not only a literal mirror, but also the "mirror" to a person's soul. Mirrors can be two-sided and for those who stare too long at one side (or one love). Walcott appears to cope with heartbreak by realizing reconnecting and learning to love yourself, only then can you truly love someone else. Walcott believes that one must embrace two sides as they are both equally important to who they are. Neruda appears to not cope as well as he ends his poem. For example, when Neruda writes "Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer and these the last verses that I write for her", this effect on the reader is powerful in one swift moment. Neruda does end up surviving the heartbreak and realizes that he is better without her. He appreciates the highs of the relationship and she will make him suffer no more. Simons 2 The strong imagery and literacy devices used by Walcott is much more descriptive in my mind. One that stands out is the example of the mirror and the enhancing one's own image is far more...

The Rental Heart

...Analysis of ”The Rental Heart” The Rental Heart is a story about heartbreak and having to cope with it afterwards. In this story however, it is possible to return the shattered heart and replace it with a new one. In a sense, you avoid the heartbreak and move on without the emotional scarring you endure from getting your heart broken. The story is set in a utopian world where it is possible to rent a mechanical heart thus not having to deal with any real emotions, particularly heartbreak. Starting with a four-year-old relationship ending and a corporeal heart shattered, we follow the love life of the narrator over many years until he/she finally, several rental hearts later, finds someone to love wholeheartedly again. The heart in this story is described as a mechanical one: a box where all emotions and memories of a relationship are stored until you replace it with a new one. Words such as, “sleeker”, “smaller” and “smooth” are used to describe the hearts. In the world we live in today, words such as those are usually used to describe a smartphone or a fancy car. The heart is therefore materialistic, something that can be bought and, when you are done using it, thrown away like garbage. The interesting part is that in real life, the heart does not possess any emotions or control how we feel about another human being. It is all in our heads: memories, feelings, pictures etc. are all stored in our brain. The heart is just a muscle that pumps blood around in our body to keep...

Specifically in chapter 5, Lee demonstrates how Scout felt heartbreak when Dill told her he loved her and then left her. Lees purpose is to expand this aspect of the human condition Heartbreak of betrayal by incorporating literary elements such as symbol, juxtaposition, metaphor, and tone. Lee opens up chapter 5 with Scout explaining how she knew Jem would get tired of her nagging him, and was relieved when he was. “My nagging got the better of Jem eventually,” (Pg.55). This passage demonstrates how Scout realized that her nagging of Jem would only irritate him more, and that was a moment of realization and maturation for her, coming of age. Lee uses the symbol of the game that Scout and Jem were playing to juxtapose how young they were. The game was about Boo Radley’s life, and it wasn't exactly child friendly, juxtaposing how young Dill and Scout were. Lee uses the symbolism of summer to represent Dill and Scouts relationship. Summer...

The Unread Letters

...ENG3U December, 17, 2013 The Unread Letters Taking a novel and making it into a movie is one thing but taking a novel and making it into a movie well that all novel loving fans will like, is a whole different story. The novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower, written by Stephan Chbosky, and the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower, directed by Stephan Chbosky, follows the letters of an “outcast” teenage boy, Charlie, as he weaves his way through his first year of high school, from finding friends, to heartbreak, and all the way to dealing with the past. The plot of the novel is written very well, when it was transferred over to the movie though the director left out some key plot pieces like, Candice’s pregnancy and abortion, Sam’s heartbreak, and Charlie’s story of being hit by his father once. Each key piece if included would have added nicely to the overall theme representation. Character representation was also a factor that was done poorly in the movie, Charlie, the main character, was lacking depth and connection. The novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower, written by Stephan Chbosky, and the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower, directed by Stephan Chbosky, have very similar ideas and topics but they differ from each other in pieces of the plot and character representation, which results in the movie version lacking depth and development of theme. Even though the novel will never be just like the movie and the director cannot keep every part of...
