Hector P. Garcia a quote that people said about him was “He is a man who in the space of one week delivers 20 babies, 20 speeches, and 20 thousand voters. He understands delivery system in this country”. He was born in Mexico in 1914, but he grew up in Mercedes, Texas, in the lower Rio Grande Valley. His dad was José Garcia, a college professor. His mom was Faustina Pérez Garcia, a schoolteacher. Garcia parent’s dedicated their time educating their children and telling them how important it is to have a good education in order to succeed in life. Garcia’s commitment in education help him graduate with honors with a medical degree from the University of Texas in 1936. He also served in the Army and went to World War II and came back with six

...Dr. Hector Garcia was recognized for many of his accomplishments. In 1996, a statue of him was dedicated to a school in Texas (Rozeff, Valley Morning Star).
