The word faith has two meanings. One meaning is to have complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The other is the strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. Both types of faith were played out in this book about Henrietta Lacks. From beginning to end, there is a huge difference in Skloot's attitude about faith. When Henrietta first got diagnosed, she acted like nothing happened. She went on with her normal life.
