Workplace Privacy

...Workplace Privacy: Privacy Rights in the Workplace Marisol Cortez National University Legal Aspects of Business I Law 304 Jack B. Hamlin, M.S., J.D. October 23, 2011 Abstract Workplace Privacy: Is an employer issued search of employer issued property to their employees a violation of the employees’ Fourth Amendment right of freedom from unreasonable search and seizure? This paper will examine the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to the case of City of Ontario v. Jeff Quon that has provided a significant change of the views on workplace privacy law in this country. The majority of U.S. employees believe that it is their constitutional right to have reasonable workplace privacy. However, most U.S. employees are unaware that their constitutional right to privacy is contingent upon the U.S. Constitution’s Fourth Amendment’s rights to freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. This constitutional right is generally applied to state actions and they are at times limited to protecting only federal, state, and municipal employees. Furthermore, this paper will discuss the influences of Fourth Amendment jurisprudence to private sector employment because of the parallel common law standard of “reasonable expectations of privacy” which is the primary piece of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) the federal legislation suggesting employee privacy interest in prohibiting unlawful access and certain disclosures of contents in certain forms of communication...

...ILOILO A thesis Presented to the Faculty St. Paul University Iloilo College of Accountancy and Business Partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Krizel Cava Janina Tan Mary Jun Sumagaysay Marisol Tabasin Joanna Paula Velete December 5, 2013 Introduction Learning styles originated in the 1970’s. They involve educating methods, particular to an individual that are presumed to allow that individual to learn best. It is commonly believed that most people favor some particular method of interacting with, taking in, and processing stimuli or information. It has been proposed that teachers should assess the learning styles of their students and adapt their classroom methods to best fit each student's learning style. (Wikipedia.org) The researchers chose this topic because the researchers want to know what different learning styles the third year College of Accountancy and Business students got used to. Understanding a particular learning style and how to best meet the needs of that learning style is essential to performing better in the classroom. Once a person has unlocked his learning style and discovered the best methods for helping him to learn through that style, he may be surprised to discover just how well he can flourish in the classroom, even in subjects that he previously found difficult. There are seven perceptual learning styles and the following are...

Pepsi Lipton Brisk

...9 -5 1 2 -0 1 1 REV: FEBRUARY 3, 2012 THALES S. TEIXEIRA ALISON CAVERLY Pepsi-Lipton Brisk In September 2010, Mary Barnard and Marisol Tamaro returned to their offices at Pepsi Headquarters after a meeting with their new advertising agency. Mekanism had just been hired to work on the re-launch of Brisk Iced Tea, a brand that had had its glory days in the ‘90’s and later had become stagnant. As of 2009, Brisk sales were rising and it attained a 10% market share in the fast growing ready-to-drink tea category, despite having virtually no advertising support. Pepsi decided that it would start investing heavily in the brand in 2011. To start off the year, a spot had been purchased for a Brisk ad to be shown during the Super Bowl, in early February. What Barnard and Tamaro needed to decide was how to carry the advertising momentum in the months following the most viewed sports event in American television. Should they stick with advertising on TV or try out a viral advertising approach in social media? Their budget wouldn’t allow for both media to be used. Barnard, Vice President at PepsiCo and the General Manager of the Pepsi-Lipton Tea Partnership (PLP), owner of Brisk, was in charge of the final decision and conferred with Tamaro, Brand Building Director for Brisk, on what to do. PepsiCo was the second largest food and beverage company in the world. So at $340 million in net revenues in 2009-10, PLP seemed like a drop in the ocean compared to the $10 billion1 from its holding...

The Global Economic Environment

...CHAPTER 2 THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT SUMMARY A. The economic environment is a major determinant of global market potential and opportunity. In today’s global economy, capital movements are the driving force, production is uncoupled from employment, and capitalism has vanquished communism. Based on patterns of resource allocation and ownership, the world's economies can be categorized as market capitalism, centrally-planned capitalism, centrally-planned socialism, and market socialism. The final years of the twentieth century were marked by transitions toward market capitalism in many countries that had been centrally controlled. However, great disparity still exists among the nations of the world in terms of economic freedom. B. Countries can be categorized in terms of their stage of economic development: low income, lower middle income, upper middle income, and high income. Gross domestic product (GDP) and gross national income (GNI) are commonly used measures of economic development. The 50 poorest countries in the low-income category are sometimes referred to as least-developed countries (LDCs). Upper middle-income countries with high growth are often called newly industrializing economies (NIEs). Several of the world’s economies are notable for their fast growth; the BRIC nations include Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The Group of Seven (G7), Group of Eight (G-8), and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) represent...

Quiet: Power of Introverts

...MORE ADVANCE NOISE FOR QUIET “An intriguing and potentially lifealtering examination of the human psyche that is sure to benefit both introverts and extroverts alike.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “Gentle is powerful … Solitude is socially productive … These important counterintuitive ideas are among the many reasons to take Quiet to a quiet corner and absorb its brilliant, thought-provoking message.” —ROSABETH MOSS KANTER, professor at Harvard Business School, author of Confidence and SuperCorp “An informative, well-researched book on the power of quietness and the 3/929 virtues of having a rich inner life. It dispels the myth that you have to be extroverted to be happy and successful.” —JUDITH ORLOFF, M.D., author of Emotional Freedom “In this engaging and beautifully written book, Susan Cain makes a powerful case for the wisdom of introspection. She also warns us ably about the downside to our culture’s noisiness, including all that it risks drowning out. Above the din, Susan’s own voice remains a compelling presence—thoughtful, generous, calm, and eloquent. Quiet deserves a very large readership.” —CHRISTOPHER LANE, author of Shyness: How Normal Behavior Became a Sickness 4/929 “Susan Cain’s quest to understand introversion, a beautifully wrought journey from the lab bench to the motivational speaker’s hall, offers convincing evidence for valuing substance over style, steak over sizzle, and qualities that are, in America, often derided. This book is brilliant...
