Hiding in Cheesy’s Bedroom.

Adolescents are constantly seeking boundaries in the hope of developing into an adult in the fastest possible way. The borderline between right and wrong becomes blurry in the fast pace contest and initial good intentions prove to be poor decisions made from an untenable standpoint. An example of this sort of bad decision-making appears in Anna Davis’ short story ‘Hiding in Cheesy’s Bedroom’, where 16-year-old Jane struggles with growing up in a very rebellious way.

If we start whit Cheesy we know that he got hair sticking up in tuft. He got one of that smooth plastic chest like an action man, not a single hair on it. Cheesy smokes cigarettes. He lives very messy. His floor is covered whit clothes and there is full ashtrays and CD´s everywhere. We later find out that Cheesy has a son, and an ex-girlfriend or wife we still not sure about what Megan is for Cheesy, who actually named Tommy. Tommy is also a drummer and we later find out, that Tommy is the one who is in relationship whit Jane´s best friend Louise.

In Anna Davis’ short story, we meet a 16-year-old girl called Jane. We know she is 16 years old because she mentions that she has to revise her GCSE, which you normally will take at the age of 16. Jane lives alone with her mother. The reader are not been given any information about what have happened with Jane’s father, except the fact that he is no longer with Jane and her mother. Jane is always living on the edge of things. She will push the limits and try new things, things that normal girls at her aged will not doubt to do, or even think about doing. Jane´s mother tries to set some rules up for Jane to follow, but she is incapable of enforcing the rules. When Jane´s mother says that Jane has to be home by midnight Jane will stay out until the milkman comes by. ‘’ Fortunately, she´s is so tired and overworked that she is incapable of waiting up for me´´. We see a girl( Jane) whom constantly pushes her mother´s ineffective boundaries and we sees her as being very rebellious. Jane is 16 years old and goes out almost every night and she hang out whit bad people who gives her bad influence. She does not offend her mother´s rules openly and she makes sure that, she is in bed when her mother wakes up in the morning and she is very careful not to wake her up. That is just an ordinary day in Jane´s limit-seeking life. The reader can think and relate that the mother is hard working, and now when there is no father noticed. She have to take care of this 16 years old girl, which is a tough age for a girl. Therefore, the mother has kind of lost her energy on trying to watch over Jane all the time.

Louise is Jane´s best mate. They always do things together and you always see them whit each other. Because of that, the girls in school think they are weird because they keep themselves to themselves and they are not interested in going out whit scrawny boys. They want to hang out whit men. That show how they try to reach out for the adultness in a very young age. They behave, as they were adults when they go to bars. They are sitting there, waiting for men to come sliding up against them and ask if they can buy them drinks. They tell everything to each other, and never lies. One point they both hook up whit one, Louise gets a drummer named Tommy and Jane got a surveyor. Therefore, when it end up whit Jane and Tommy hooking up, and Jane cannot tell Louise it, than Jane got a bit of an issue.

Tommy and Jane, relationship start first when Jane´s date dump her. She was meeting this person called Richie and he does not show up. Tommy tries to cheer Jane whit buying her a drink. Then the actually story takes places at the start, whit Jane waking up in Cheesy´s bedroom

To explain the ending, the reader finds out that Cheesy is actually Tommy( Louise boyfriend) and Tommy´s son (Dewi) discovered Jane in his father´s bedroom. He says ‘’ Daddy, there´s a lady in your bedroom again. I think she´s hiding’’ So we now know that it something the son have seen before and it is not the first time Tommy brings a lady that is not the boy’s mother whit him home. Afterwards Jane start to think of ways to explain what have happened to her best mate Louise. She see it at first as an revenge on Tommy for being so treacherous as to try to sleep whit Louise best mate Jane. Jane start to realise what have actually happened and she imagine how Louise would react because the end it is Louise who was the target. Louise is the one who will break down, and rage. Because in the end it was Jane, who shagged her best mate’s boyfriend, only to keep up whit Louise and all of her sex talk. Therefore, Jane founded out, that she might had to keep this a secret for Louise.
