When I started high school I wasn’t sure what type of leader I was. I had been a part of Beta Club in middle school, but I felt that was more working with a group of people then really being a leader. So during high school, I decided I wanted to do more. I started volunteering with the fire department, volunteering then working at my temple, and became a section leader in band.
The Fire Department is by our house, and I had been intrigued with it for years. When I was a sophomore in high school, I decided to become a member. They hadn’t had a “junior” for a long time, so it took a lot to win their trust, respect, and friendship. Since the department was so close, I went to all of the trainings, took as many classes as I could, and learned from anyone who would take the time. I got up early to help set up blood drives, stayed late when there was an emergency in our community, and did everything that was asked. Due to this dedication and …show more content…
I was a role model for the students. Each of the students looked up to me because I portrayed what a leader, young Jewish adult, and helper should be and how the younger students could become responsible young adults. Activities in my class were hands on, yet my teachers did not cook. I also left an impact by sharing my strength as I led cooking activities that complimented our curriculum.
Not only did I make an impact on the young people of the religious school, I was a role model for the other teaching assistants who volunteered then worked with the students. I was one of the oldest and most experienced teacher’s aide as well as one of the only male assistants. I had to show the younger aides how to become a great assistants and teachers to the young children. I left a lasting impact in the school and the congregation with my useful skills, as a great teacher, assistant, positive male presence, and role

I sleep no more than six hours a night because of my desire to expertly meet my many commitments. Throughout my life, I have worked as long and as hard as I possibly can to effect beneficial changes in both school and society. During the summer of tenth grade, I took a number theory course at Johns Hopkins University with students from Alaska, California, and Bogota, Colombia. Similarly, during the summer following eleventh grade, I was one of ninety students from New Jersey selected to attend the Governor's School in the Sciences at Drew University. At Drew, I took courses in molecular orbital theory, special relativity, cognitive psychology, and I participated in an astrophysics research project. For my independent research project, I used a telescope to find the angular velocity of Pluto. With the angular velocity determined, I used Einstein's field equations and Kepler's laws to place an upper bound on the magnitude of the cosmological constant, which describes the curvature of space and the rate of the universe's expansion. Applying Leadership Theories

...Running head: Applying Leadership Theories Applying Leadership Theories in the School Setting Teresa E. McNair Grand Canyon University: EDA-574 September 28, 2011 Applying Leadership Theories in the School Setting As many of us already know, there are several variables in creating a successful school. A successful organization has one major attribute that sets it apart from unsuccessful organizations dynamic and effective leadership (Hersey, Blanchard, & Johnson, 2008). Leadership is defined as the process of influencing the activities of an individual or a group toward reaching goal achievement in a given situation (Hersey, Blanchard, & Johnson, 2008). For the past three decades, education has been going through a sustained period of reform and restructuring (Razik & Swanson, 2010). With these changes, leadership styles must undergo changes to keep up with the needs of the global society (Razik & Swanson, 2010). Experts do not agree on one leadership style or theory that should be implemented to achieve success. Many have decided that a combination of different theories based on needs will yield the best result. This essay will depict how different leadership theories apply to my school (Forest High School) setting as reflected from the leader’s behavior and actions. Applying Leadership Theories Individuals’ interest in leadership increased during the early part of the twentieth century. Early leadership theories focused on what qualities...

Therefore, all this set of principles applies in any of the fields of business (marketing, finance…) and people inevitably face ethical decisions in their every day working lives. The aim is to make every employee adhere to these standards because obviously, it is more profitable for a company to be ethical in business. But, as ethical issues are linked to decision-making, how can all decisions be ethical and above all whose responsibility is it? Therefore, we could wonder if business ethics is a personal responsibility or a group responsibility. We are going to divide this essay into two parts, the thesis and the antithesis, in order to determine whether or not business ethics is a personal responsibility. We can write a custom essay on Business Ethics for you! Values are very important as they are the core of our culture. ...Reflection Report to Improve Leadership Skills Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report Self-Reflection Essay What better way exists to examine key concepts of organizational behaviour than to reflect on one's own experiences and beliefs as they apply to workplace successes and failures? In this report, I intend to review a variety of theories relative to organizational behaviour by considering each in relation to my own experiences as a mid-level manager. This reflection will focus primarily on three themes including personality, working in groups, and leadership. Throughout this report, I will consider my own personal strengths and weaknesses, attempting to determine how each affected situational outcomes. Many of these strengths and weaknesses were highlighted through a series of self-assessment exercises completed as part of the "Prentice Hall Self-Assessment Library" (Robbins and Judge, 2007), the results of which will be regularly referred to in this report. In closing, I will summarize areas requiring continued personal effort in order to ensure ongoing development and both personal and professional growth. ...School Communication and Human Relations Essay Mathew Cameron, Bobbi Cerro, Tim Jessessky, Kim Maldonado, Reed Pebbles Grand Canyon University: EDA – 575 December 11, 2013 School Communication and Human Relations Essay In an educational setting, there are certain ideals, philosophies, and concepts that transcend grade levels as well as geographic location. A need for solid communication and quality human relations are two of those ideals. Both are necessary whether you are discussing an elementary, middle, or high school. In order to demonstrate this need, this essay discusses various communication and human relation theories and how those theories apply to and are being implemented in five different school settings. The schools being discussed include the following: * Lincoln County High School located in Panaca Nevada, * Mark L. Fine Elementary School found in Las Vegas, Nevada, * Star Valley High School in Afton, Wyoming, * Mendive Middle School located in Sparks, Nevada, * And Village Meadows Elementary School set in Phoenix, Arizona. One theory that is very apparent to certain staff at Lincoln County High School is the Expectancy Theory. The Expectancy Theory implies that an individual’s behavior and efforts are determined by the perception and desire to gain a reward (Miller & Grush, 1988). Staff at the school tend to take positions or extra duties in order to gain a more favorable station with leadership in the school. On the reverse...

Leadership Essay

...Running head: LEADERSHIP ESSAY Leadership and Systematic Change Essay Amy Sanderson Grand Canyon University: EDA 575 May 9, 2012 Leadership and Systematic Change Essay There are several leadership styles a leader can exhibit. One must be able to change styles based on the situation. Leaders must also be able to communicate to the staff about change. An effective leader is a person who leads others toward a shared goal, showing the way by example and forming an environment in which other staff members feel actively involved in the process. Systematic change is dependent on quality leadership. Leading change is the hardest expertise to achieve. Without quality management, systematic change will flop and the school will feel unmanageable without guidance. It is vital leaders wishing to implement systematic change have a clear vision, direction and a process for this change to take place. Without having a vision, change is likely not going to happen. Change involves stakeholders, their visions, and the leader’s visionary skills for change to occur. Change lead by efficient leaders is inevitable and important for progress in schools and without change unproductivity occurs. Stakeholders need to be involved in the decision-making about change because it creates a trusting and supportive environment conducive to change (Gurr, Drysdale, & Mulford, 2006). Module 7 lecture (2012) states there are steps to follow for applying change so it is successful. First...
