An estimated 65% of Iowa adults are overweight, with more than 28% of those ranking as obese (CDC, 2010). This paper will evaluate the concern of weight among school age children. Community health options available to the school-age children of Humboldt County and will provide a plan to reducing obesity rates among the youth. Assessment State statistical information does not include the estimated 8% of children who do not receive medical services in a physicians’ office (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2012). Physical assessments are an important measurement of a child’s health and well-being. Without these essential assessments children are not properly diagnosed and treated for a variety of health conditions. The state of Iowa does not require physical health screenings to attend school. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurse’s recommends every child in school has a yearly physical that includes a BMI screening (Davis, Glance-Cleveland, Hassink, Johnson, Paradis, Resnicow, 2007). Findings on the number of teachers and student in the secondary RE education indicated that the number of girls enrolled rose to almost 50% around 1959 from the 17% before then. This paper draws both theoretical and empirical literature in an attempt to unmask how family and consumer science education has addressed healthy relationship among youths in middle and high schools. In her 2 hours stay at the office, she attended to the teaching staff’s issues and concerns, talked to the parents, called up the corporation office to fix an appointment with the counsellor and called up an NGO which was willing to collaborate with Rachna Foundation. One her way back to the clinic (also her home), she thought of paying a visit to Rachna Foundation’s new building at Palluruthy, Cochin. Even under the 40 degrees hot sun, the construction work was in progress and she was happy with the progress made so far.
