I Have Nothing'

..."I Have Nothing" Share my life, take me for what I am 'Cause I'll never change all my colours for you Take my love, I'll never ask for too much Just all that you are and everything that you do I don't really need to look very much further I don't wanna have to go where you don't follow I won't hold it back again, this passion inside Can't run from myself There's nowhere to hide Don't make me close one more door I don't wanna hurt anymore Stay in my arms if you dare Or must I imagine you there Don't walk away from me... I have nothing, nothing, nothing If I don't have you, you, you, you, you. You see through right to the heart of me You break down my walls with the strength of your love I never knew love like I've known it with you Will a memory survive, one I can hold on to I don't really need to look very much further I don't wanna have to go where you don't follow I won't hold it back again, this passion inside I can't run from myself There's nowhere to hide Your love I'll remember forever Don't make me close one more door I don't wanna hurt anymore Stay in my arms if you dare Or must I imagine you there Don't walk away from me... I have nothing, nothing, nothing... Don't make me close one more door I don't wanna hurt anymore Stay in my arms if you dare Or must I imagine you there Don't walk away from me, no. Accountability of Elected Officials

...that comes another onslaught of jabs and pokes at the job he may or may not accomplish while in office. Throughout history there have always been people for and against the president and there always will be. Republicans and democrats never get along and most of them have incredibly varying opinions on where the government should be heading. With this in mind, have you ever thought about what happens to the elected officials, not just presidents, who spend donated money to get elected and during their tenure in office do nothing to help the very people that elected them into office to begin with? There are studies upon studies that are posted all over the internet that show how horrible of a job most of our presidents have done while in office. At the same time there are tens of thousands of elected officials across the United States who go unnoticed if they do horribly, and most the time return to their normal life after their term is done and think nothing of it ever again. The lack of consequences for people not doing their job they were voted in to do is wrong. When it comes to accountability of officials from any level of government, especially ones that are voted in, need to be held accountable for their actions to provide a better future for us all. The role of an elected official, no matter on what scale of position he/she are elected into, is to do what is best for the people that voted them into office. As citizens of the USA, we all should have the same goals in mind...

...figurative language. The line reads, “... no more than themselves in the cold truth-telling glass.” Personification is used in this sentence to describe the glass and how it represents glass and the message it holds. The poem can be considered an ode due to the message ot holds overall; which I interpret as “nothing of sentimental value can be replaced.” The tone of the poem is more negative. It has a gloomy, lost feeling towards it that makes the reader feel like the man in the poem is sad. This creates the mood which has a relative feeling of the gloomy, lost, mournful tone of the speaker. The speaker of this poem is a man who...

Intro Paper

...glorified coach, but of the legend shared by the Messina Spartans. In the novel Bleachers, John Grisham effectively employs internal conflict to reveal how easy it is to be fooled by fake happiness. Neely Crenshaw’s life has gone anywhere but where he originally dreamed. “I don’t want to talk about football okay? I don’t want to hear about how great I was.” (71) Crenshaw has gone through tremendous suffering, and it is visible here that he has spent much of his life milling over his high-school self, yearning for the years where he was a God in Messina, the years where he was truly happy with himself. Through these years Neely had nothing to be conflicted by; he was winning all of his football games, the hottest girl in school was on his arm, and every D1 school in the state wanted him. Neely left Messina with a vow to never come back, on his way to Tech University, drawn by the “fifty thousand bucks in cash,” (28) and not by the true love for the game. After Crenshaw is injured, his life quickly turns bitter. Grisham uses this scenario to convey to us that material items, the fifty thousand Tech paid him, the five grand every week, the new car, are not going to bring us internal happiness, but instead they will only bring you temporary joy. The happiness will fade as...

...for his tribe and his way of life and is looking back on memories, remembering the days when his teepee was not the only one standing there. Pride- We get a feeling of pride in the third stanza because the Indian chief stands strong, out side his teepee looking into the empty land which used to be occupied by his people. Despair- The tones changed to a more saddening mood because the chief is only able to look back at the vibrancy of his memories. Pain- This stanza makes us feel pain because the Indian chief is all alone, nothing is left but emptiness and skeleton bones. He is surrounded by a complete silence. Sunset- The sunset symbolizes the end of the day or the end of the tribe. It implies that they left peacefully and as smooth as the sunset. Skeleton- The skeletons show how the land naked and bare the land has become and how the tribe’s ways have died off. Shadow-like- The shadow is the chief’s memories, always right with him but never close enough to touch. His memories like a shadow that just pops out on nowhere. Empty west- The west is empty land; everything is gone, lonely and dark. Bleach- It could mean that the reason for the tribe disappearing is from bleach skinned people coming and taking their land. Tent poles- It symbolizes holding everything together, they hold up the teepee and hold up the tribe and their souls Nakedness- It symbolizes having nothing left, being completely vulnerable and with no way...

Of Mice And Men Lennie's Death

...Without question, Of Mice and Men by George Steinbeck is a gritty, dark, novella filled with despondency and hopelessness. The despondency and hopelessness is brought on by the deaths of innocent characters, and reinforced by the lack of care for life that seems to hold itself in the minds of most of the ranchers in the story. Their carelessness for the death of others reveals to us the lifestyle on the ranch, as well as the lifestyle of the bitter, rough Great Depression of the 1930s in America. While these deaths are insignificant to the men on the ranch, they hold major significance to the plot. Our introduction to these ideas on death amongst the ranchers starts with the death of Candy’s dog. This sheepdog was old and feeble, but was...

Cosmological Argument

...Ben Kemp 5/1/14 There have been many arguments formed by philosophers over the most basic question every human holds: is there a God? Cosmological arguments are arguably the most common in attempting to prove the existence of God. One of the most famous is the sufficent cause argument made famous by Saint Bonaventure. It simply states that nothing in the world is without cause. The belief being that God was the ultimate first cause of the universe, it didnt just come to be out of nothing. Bonaventure reasoned that their cannot be an infinite amount of causes streching back forever, therefore the first cause is God. Another cosmological argument was presented by the philosopher Gottfried Leibniz, the sufficent reason argument. Simply put, everything must have a reason for exsistence. For example, I was born because my parents concieved me and my mother gave birth to me. I need food, water and oxygen to continue exsisting. I do not hold in myself the reason for my own exsistence. Therefore there cannot be an infinite number of explanations for exsistence, if this were true Leibniz argued, there would be no reason for anything to exsist. Therefore something must exsist that holds its own reason for exsistence within itself, as well as the reason for everything elses exsistence. This thing is God. The philosopher Thomas Nagel held objections to all of the cosmological arguments. His objection had two parts; first is simply that if everything requires a cause God also requires...

Unexpected Fun

...“oh yes go ahead and reserve Dennis a plane ticket too.” Like if I was not angry enough, she decides for me that I am going on vacations to Mexico with my aunt and my cousins, for a whole month! I still remember how mad I was. I kept telling her “well mother your spending money on a plane ticket for nothing, because I’m not going.” Finally, they convinced me to go to Mexico with the promise that if I absolutely hated it, they would buy my plane ticket to return home. The first week there I couldn’t take it, it was the middle of summer and it was raining. We had nothing to do, all we did was sit in the room where we would sleep and look at each other. I decide that the next day I was going to call my parents. I bought a pre-paid card and I did just that. “Mom, I hate it here. You told me to try it out and I did.” Since they had promised me a plane ticket back home, I was convinced that soon I would be back in lovely California. Finally, it stopped raining and later that night one of my cousins decided to take my cousin Cynthia and I to a club. I was stoked, finally something to do. We got dolled up and headed out the door. After that night there was no way I was going back home. I had more fun than I had ever had. I was dying to find out how the other nights were going to be like. Every night seemed to be more and more fun, and every day of the week there was...

Education

...would be a combination of democratic and authoritarian styles of leadership. It is important that administrators provide positive examples for others to follow but as an administrator it is important to be in control also. I feel good with where I stand at this point in my career. I feel blessed to be apart of an organization where all teachers and administrators are a team that work together to meet our goals and help students to become successful. There is nothing that one of us would ask of another that we would not be willing to do our self. The worst type of school administrator would have to be the “country club” administrator. To me this is a person who is just laid back and uninterested in the issues that educators face. They are more interested in their paycheck than they are making a difference in their organization. The education system is no place for this type of administrator; students pick up on these types of behaviors and are likely to model it in their own lives. I feel that it is important that all employees hold...

Ray Bradbury's There Will Come Soft Rain

...Rains, Ray Bradbury illustrates how man will not be able to contend with itself and nature, leaving nothing behind but nature alone. Throughout the story There Will Come Soft Rains, Ray Bradbury weaves the theme of man verses nature into the lines to show the fall of man when nature reclaims the world. Man-kind has taken much from nature to build technology and a world of their own to live in. In the story, everything in the house is automatic, the cleaning, the cooking, running a bath and even closing the blinds is done by artificial...
