Technology has found a place in nearly every part of lives these days. It has also affected education to the point where students might be able to study at home full time. Some people think students should study at home using computers and television. On the other hand, others believe it is better for students to attend traditional schools instead. From my point of view, it is better for students to go to school because it is a more effective way to study and help students develop important social skills.

First of all, studying in a traditional school setting is a more effective way to learn. While it is true that studying using technology can be beneficial, technology should only be used to supplement education. When students study at home alone with no interaction with teachers or classmates, they are at a disadvantage. Face to face interaction is necessary to fully understand the material being presented. I took an online course a few years ago, and it was very interesting, but often I had questions where the answers were not immediately available. However, in a traditional classroom setting, students can raise their hands and ask the teacher for more information or clarification. In that sense, studying at home using only technology, students may develop gaps in their knowledge. These gaps can be more effectively filled in through the guidance of a teacher.

Moreover, when students attend a traditional school, they can develop social skills. Part of the schooling process is the instruction of social skills. In a school, students learn to cooperate, make compromises and understand the opinions of other people. These are skills that they need to carry them into adulthood and the working world. Students who study at home using only technology can learn information, but they will have trouble functioning in the working world where they may be required to work

Traditional Education vs. Online Education

...Traditional Education vs. Online Education Education is becoming one of the most important things in a person’s life, most people are trying to obtain an education. Most countries have a concern on the quality of the education provided to the people so that those people will be able to improve upon the resources that are available. If the quality of the resources that a person has available is good, the quality of that entire country will also be good. The advancement of technology has had a large impact on education. Before this advancement of technology the implementation of education was only traditional. Currently, this has changed because of the advancement of the technology has allowed the education system to be implemented online along with traditionally. Both traditional education and online education are not alike in several ways for example the cost and student equality. There are many factors that are alike between online and traditional education for example the books and paper required to take the class. With any type of education the main factor for a student in deciding to go to a traditional college or an online college is the cost. The students who attend a traditional education setting may spend more money than a student enrolled in online education. If the student chooses not to live on the college campus then that student will need to spend money on gas for the transportation to and from school. If the person chooses to live away from home while...

...in your lifestyle and needs is complicated. Some options for parents are private schools, public schools, and home schooling their children. Depends on what the parents choose is best for their children. Since private schools and public schools fall under the category with traditional schooling, lets compare and contrast traditional schooling vs. home schooling. The two are both types of schools. The student can earn a diploma with either way of schooling program. Both of the ways of schooling have the same main courses needed to graduate.Something that might be different is how many credits are needed to graduate. Most are 21 credits with four credits from the main classes like science, English, history, and math. Also a half credit from gym class. For some home school students getting that grade is hard. They might need to go to a park and play basketball or find something to do outside. Some parents don’t want to hire a teacher so they enroll their kids in the online home schooling. The two types of schooling ways also let the student progress through the course. For example if you pass your first year of regular science you have the option to further into biology, chemistry, geology, and psychics. Both ways of schooling offer different classes you can take like computer classes, second languages, art class, Hom-each,accounting, and etc. A major difference is the pace of learning. Home schooled kids can learn at their own pace. This is a major help to those kids that...

Home Schooling vs Traditional Schooling

...Home Schooling vs. Traditional Schooling Dominic Harden COM/170 07/07/14 Cathy Smith With society gradually changing, parents may consider different options to meet their child’s educational needs. The technology today provides parents with choices regarding what type of schooling their child will be attending. The parent can have their child attend traditional school or resort to teaching their child at home which is commonly referred to as home schooling. Whether the child attends public school or is schooled in their home there are certain things that apply to each type of schooling. Although homeschooling has its benefits, traditional schooling is set in stone when it comes to things like the curriculum, schedule and school environment. How the child learns is a key factor when determining which type of schooling him or her is going to attend. Depending on the child, one type of schoolings curriculum can benefit the child or hinder their progress. The child will receive the basic skills regardless, whether they are home schooled or attend a public school. These basic skills include things like reading, writing, and math skills. The curriculum of traditional schooling has always been based on the state standards that the school is located in. State required curriculums has the teachers keeping all of their students at the same on the same track for the sake of ease. The traditional schooled student can easily become bored and uninterested because they don’t...

...Alternative Vs. Traditional High schools Cheryl Zang COM/155 April 20, 2014 Cathy Smith Alternative vs. Traditional High schools Adolescents are the future of America. With this being well known, why do we as members of society often look down upon the ones that have a questionable past and have graduated from an alternative high school? This is the question that makes me wonder if we are creating a better future for society, or just creating a world that disgraces people for trying to succeed. We all know that we cannot always help the hand that we are dealt in life; all we can do is work to better our life and change our future from the life we were born into. Alternative high schools give adolescents that opportunity to make a better future and to help steer them in the right direction. Alternative schools are more valuable than traditional schools for troubled adolescents because of increased graduation rates, and the ability to make up credits. Many members of society fail to look at all the details when they hear or see the term alternative. Although, it may seem as if there are a lot of differences between the two schools, they have a lot of similarities as well. Both schools have the same requirements for students to graduate at the end of their senior year. This makes it to where just because the teen has chosen to enroll in an alternative school, they do not get any breaks in the educational requirements needed to graduate. Alternative and traditional high schools...

Online Education Made Easy

...Adults with families that work full-time jobs use distance learning to acquire higher educations. People who use traditional educations may disagree with using online educations because of classroom structure, anxiety, and student achievement. Students seeking a higher education should consider using online educations because online educations offer advantages that traditional educations do not. Even though online educations are not for everyone, online educations are growing in popularity; offer flexibility; low costs; accreditation; and are as effective as traditional educations. Online educations are growing in popularity; therefore, people can acquire a college education without quitting work. One study (Table 1) shows how online learning has grown in one-year from 3.15 million to 3.5 million students enrolling in online education courses. “More than two-thirds of all higher education studies show how online educations are growing in popularity with students as well as institutions. (Allen & Seaman, 2007). Families with one or both parents working full-time jobs find online educations as a way of acquiring a higher education because he/she needs to work to provide for the family. Students believe the flexibility of online learning is an advantage (Payne & Johnson, 2005). Traditional School vs Online School

...Cristina Batista COM/1455 University studies and Communication I Sheri Lindquist Traditional School VS. Online School The difference between going to school online and traditional school can vary; they are either good or bad differences. From socialization, commute, convenience and family, it can have an impact on a person; the impact can be good or bad. Socialization plays a huge role in a persons’ life especially while attending school. While going to traditional school, a person is more likely to get the benefit of having friends. Online school can prevent a person from having a social life, because all classmates can be in any part of the world. I believe that depression plays a huge part on people that do not have daily contact with others. The more contact with people the more a person evolves to be a better “people” person. In class a student would have the ability to get thorough help by teacher, and online the only thing a student can do is e-mail or call. As for myself, I have to look at someone, in order to understand what I am having trouble understanding. Many people who go online and do not understand many people who do not understand might go silent and fail. No matter the communication, student must always speak up. The thought about success, helps me push a lot, even when I feel like quitting. Fellow class mates can be a help because they are experiencing the same thing, specially if the students are local. ...Online education VS Traditional Education  Asia Clarke COM/155 March 25, 2012  Online education VS Traditional Education In this present day with the technology that exists there are more options to obtain a higher education.   Both online and traditional colleges have their advantages and disadvantages.   Deciding on which style fits depends on the students’ needs. This will be brought to attention in this essay. It seems in the present day more students are looking for a more convenient way to acquire an education. They are achieving degrees online compared to attending traditional colleges. Online education is becoming more popular than traditional education.   Online education gives more freedom to allow individuals to return to school and to work a full time job at the same time.   This gives students the chance to receive higher education while taking care of their responsibilities in everyday life.   Overall, it is clear that online enrollments nationally have experienced very large growth during the past decade, and evidence points that this growth will continue in the next few years.    With online education, universities can reach vast distances.   In return students can attend creditable schools and receive creditable degrees from rural areas.   Online offerings are becoming very attractive to full-time employees who want to further their careers – or start new ones - through more education. Colleges benefit by expanding their faculty to include qualified...

Ge 117 Itt Tech Video Games and Health

...Video Games and Health ITT Technical Institute It’s easy to see the appeal of the video game. They allow us to do things that most people would never have the chance to experience, or something that’s flat out impossible. From the roar of a massive v-12 engine in a Ferrari, screaming down a straight at 230 miles per hour, to the rat-tat-tat of a heavy machine gun, complete with the imagined scent of cordite and powdery, obliterated dry wall, or even directing stalwart troops across a decimated sci-fi battlefield, there’s nothing quite like the visceral experience of a well-made video game. I’ve plummeted feet-first through Earth’s fiery atmosphere in a vessel no bigger than a phone booth with blue and purple iridescent plasma-bolts exploding inches from my head. I’ve experienced the elation of besting a massive, scaly, fire-breathing dragon in single combat that had just burned down an unfortunate village. The experiences that these games give us are just not available anywhere else, to such an interactive extent. However, therein may lay a problem. It is an undeniable fact that videos games can have an addictive quality to them, due to the escapism they provide. Wherever one looks, there seems to be someone engrossed in the latest action-adventure game, whether it be on a handheld device such as a smart phone, or on an enormous flat screen television that uses more electricity than Rhode Island. We have more leisure time in today’s society than in any other time in...
