July 14, 2013 is the day that will be remembered and recognized by my family as one of the most trying times in our lives. On this day, my grandmother made the most challenging decision of her life as she discontinued the life support on her companion of over 15 years, Homer Mittelstadt. Growing up, Homer and I shared every birthday celebration together since I was born on his 60th birthday.
