Homework Should Be Banned

...Trouville English CP III 15 December 2015 Should Schools Be Done with Homework? Have you ever enjoyed a day of relaxation? Have you ever experienced the thrill of having a day just to goof off? Has homework kept you away from that? Kids hate homework. Some kids say that homework is just what they learned in class the same day and they are just repeating it. Why do students need to repeat what we did in class that day? Is it necessary? Some reasons why homework is not effective is that many teachers give too much homework, and often teachers do not coordinate the quantity given. Secondly, unnecessary assignments raise the stress level of the students. However, the main argument against homework is that most of it is just boring practice. Teachers give too much homework to kids and it’s not necessary. In an article written by Lance J. Falk it states that “kids have lives beyond school and schoolwork. About 65 percent of kids, ages of 6-13, play competitive sports. But, unfortunately, some of those kids quit playing the sport they love due to the fact that they have too much schoolwork to tackle during their evening” (Falk). If a student has three soccer practices a week, which consumes 2.5 hours of his Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, how do you think he or she feels? He or she would obviously feel very tired, right? But now if that same student had two hours of homework three of the five days that he or she has school he or she would feel......

Sprint Performance Management

...doing great with customer service and all aspect of business in the early 2000's but as time went along they were not doing as well. Part of the reason for this was that "the procedures used to measure and communicate performance and expectations with each employee simply did not reinforce or align with the company's customer service goals" (Customer satisfaction through performance management at Sprint. (2012). When looking at Sprint's performance management system in 2007, it was a homegrown application that provided reams of information and tracked dozens of metrics, but the information provided wasn't actionable information that was needed to drive behavior change and support better customer service in call centers and retail stores. Lance Williams, the Director of Customer Management, said "we were awash in data" but also stated We needed less, but better-focused information" (Customer satisfaction through performance management at Sprint. (2012). The management team at Sprint conducted a study of both it's high and low performers to identify the behaviors that consistently delivered the best customer service performance for Sprint. After this study, they developed specific training techniques to help coach call center and store employees on findings of the study of the most successful behaviors in hopes to improve the performance of all employees. Sprint launched a Master Coaches program to teach all employees as many managers although effective managers are not......

...classical music and School House Rock, and introduction to teacher-made songs that introduce mathematical concepts in the music classroom. The students of the targeted second and fourth grade classes exhibited low levels of achievement according to local and national standards. Evidence for the existence of the problem included teacher- made pre-tests, parent questionnaires, and student questionnaires. Probable causes for low levels of student mathematical achievement were identified through a review of the literature and analysis of the setting and can be divided into student, home, school, teacher, and district influences. The following probable causes were cited: disabilities, classroom climate, motivation, problem behaviours, lack of homework support due to lack of math competency, home-based factors, lack of professional training and frequent staff turnover, and low contact time in the arts due to funding problems. The solution strategy involved a review of current educational literature with analysis of problem setting, resulting in exposure to music of Mozart, School House Rock, and teacher-made songs that prepared and motivated students while implementing mathematical concepts. Post intervention data indicated a significant increase in students' mathematics achievement in the targeted skills for both second and fourth grades, including students with disabilities. Motivation and classroom climate were also noted. Hetland,-Lois Listening to Music Enhances......

This analysis allows an organization to understand its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, in the present and future. Just like any other organization, Nike has had its fair share of ups and downs. The researcher has conducted a SWOT analysis of Nike, to establish an overall evaluation of the company. Strengths and Weaknesses evaluate the internal environment of a firm, whereas Opportunities and Threats evaluate the external aspect of the firm (Wang, n.d.). Fig 2.2 SWOT analysis of Nike Inc. (enotes.com/homework-help, n.d.) The reason behind Nike’s success has always been its long lists of strengths. In the above diagram, the researcher has illustrated its main strengths. Having said that, there are certain weaknesses, opportunities and threats; to most Nike has paid attention through changes in it strategies. The most alarming controversy to hit Nike, was its exploitation of workers in Asia and usage of child labor. Nike’s business model was based on manufacturing of shoes which was outsourced to countries where labor was cheap. Production of shoes was taking place in countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia. The first report of abuse came from Indonesia, where workers were paid 14 cents an hour, which was lower than Indonesia’s......

The Two Gentlemen of Verona

...example of this is when the disclosure of Julia's "Sebastian" disguise prompts Proteus to discover something about himself as he declares "O heaven! were man/ But constant, he were perfect" (5.4.7). The point seems to be that, while human beings can be fickle, changeable, and unstable, they are also capable of some pretty important self-revelations. Quote #1 PROTEUS I leave myself, my friends and all, for love. Thou, Julia, thou hast metamorphosed me, Made me neglect my studies, lose my time, War with good counsel, set the world at nought; Made wit with musing weak, heart sick with thought. (1.1.67-71) Proteus claims that his love for Julia has transformed him, and not in a good way. Ever since Julia came along, he no longer does his homework, he wastes all of his time, and he argues with his friends. What's more, Proteus claims that love has also made him weak witted (stupid). Quote #2 SPEED Marry, by these special marks: first, you have learned, like Sir Proteus, to wreathe your arms, like  a malecontent; to relish a love song like a robin redbreast; to walk alone, like one that had the  pestilence; to sigh, like a schoolboy that had lost his  ABC; to weep, like a young wench that had buried  her grandam; to fast, like one that takes diet; to  watch like one that fears robbing; to speak puling,  like a beggar at Hallowmas.
