The lifecycle stages those were primarily focused on and needs to be improved are as listed below: • Concept – In this stage the stakeholder’s requirements trigger the project and drive the whole engineering effort. • Development – In this stage the stakeholder’s requirements are refined with the perspective of quality and are ‘baselined’. • Production – In this stage considering the quality model selected and the baseline accumulated from previous stages quality activities will be performed according to the plans. • Utilization – In this stage, the monitoring of performance and identifying, classifying and reporting of anomalies, deficiencies, and failures occurs. • Support – In this stage, the system-of-interest is deployed and logistics for operation and maintenance support are handled. This stage also considers the support and maintenance quality plan established in previous stages. • Retirement - The Retirement stage is executed to retire the systems-of-interest and eventually transfer its services to a new system, while preserving data quality, integrity and security. ...Homework and Testing 1 Homework and Testing Assigning Homework How much is too much? As with classroom assignments, homework should never be given as busy work. It should have a purpose with a goal. And as I mentioned in the Behavioral Approach to Learning, homework should NEVER be given as punishment. The kid will associate homework with punishment. This may interest you. Harris Cooper (1998) analyzed more than 100 research studies on homework in American schools. He found that homework had a very small connection with test scores at the elementary level. If anything, the more homework an elementary school student had, the more negative their attitude was toward school. Plus it takes away from their social time, which is an important part of growing up. Kids need to learn social skills. Too much homework causes stress, as you probably know very well by now. Kids need to have down time too! Why does homework have such a small effect at the elementary level? One reason is that young children have limited attention spans and are very distractible. It is difficult to do homework in a house that has many distractions. Teachers need to work with parents and help students find a quiet space to do homework. Most professional organization in education agrees that homework should never exceed 10 - 20 minutes per day in grades K - 2. In grades 3 - 6 homework should never exceed 30 - 60 minutes per day....

My name is ________, I grew up playing soccer and running around on the streets of Brazil. When I was about 16 years old I came to visit United States and it was love at first visit, and I decided to make this place my new home. I lived in Florida for the most part, my parents were always relocating due to their work. I went to four different high schools, and the last one of them was in Boston, MA where I graduated. After high school I took a 6 month brake from school to decide what profession I wanted to follow. After a long time contemplating my decision I chose Civil Engineering as my major and started at FIU. I started working at the age of 17 at a fast food restaurant (Pizza Hut), I worked there for quite some time until I had to leave because my parents were moving to Boston. Once in Boston I found a pizza hut very close to my house and I applied there. Needless to say I got the job. After that I moved back to Florida where I started working at a 4 star restaurant, then another restaurant. After some time working in the restaurant business I wanted to get experience in some other area, maybe in an area that would be related to civil engineering and help me in the future. Then I started working at a Hotel in Miami Beach as an ‘engineer’....

...Francis Reyes English 100 – AK Liza Erpelo May 9, 2009 “Before I learned how to speak Tagalog, people made fun of me because of my New Jersey accent. They would ostracize me because I am an American,“ (Reyes). As one can see, language is the main issue in the Filipino American society that needs to be resolved in order to reserve history and traditions. Throughout the interview with Brian, I found that he went through hardships because he could not speak Tagalog. His early lifestyle of growing up in New Jersey gave Brian a disadvantage because he did not have a real reason why a Filipino dialect would be important to learn. His situation occurred during the 80’s and, since then, the number of Filipino and Filipino Americans not knowing a Filipino dialect increased. There can be many rationalizations as to why, year-by-year, the population amongst young Filipino and Filipina Americans retain from learning a part of their heritage. For example, in the book Homebound, by Yen Le Espiritu, there is a reference as to why some immigrant parents refrain from teaching their children how to speak a Filipino dialect. Similar opinions also occur in the section “Filipino American Identity: Transcending the Crisis,” by Linda A. Revilla, and how Filipino soldiers stationed in Hawaii were called a “disgracia,” or a disgrace, because they did not know a Filipino language. Both books correlate to what my brother went through when he was living in the Philippines for......

The narrator is so attracted to the family life depicted on TV because they live a perfect life and that is exactly what he wants. One thing he feels that is wrong with his life is his family’s appearance. He believes if they improved their looks they would be accepted by others such as white people. This has little impact on his family because they realize life is not perfect and they are not in control of certain things. The family realizes they do not have to change in order to be liked by others as long as they have each other to love. 2. At first, the narrator goes looking for work because he wants to be wealthy. He believed that being wealthy would take away all his family’s problems. At the end of the story, the narrator starts to accept the fact that he cannot change the way his family is. The meaning of work has changed because he realizes he wants to work for the right reasons not just because he feels obligated to fix his family. 3. Soto’s family life was not perfect, but he lived in a stable household with people he loved. Soto’s thinking was wrong because he wanted more in life however, he failed to realize that he was lucky and fortunate enough to have the people he loves most close to him.
