The civilization of Ancient Greece emerged in the 8th century BC with the Minoans as the first great Greek advancement. The history of Ancient Greece can be divided into three periods: the Archaic period, the Classical period, and the Hellenistic period which lasted until Rome conquered Greece. In fact, the geographical coverage of Ancient Greek civilization occurred in Greece, the islands of the Aegean Sea, and the west coast of Asia Minor.
Furthermore, it is the Greeks that were concerned with both physical and mental development and the first to explain how physical activity can improve one’s wellbeing. To accomplish this theory, the ancient Greeks formalized competitive athletics, leading to the first ancient Olympic Games in 776 BC. The
