Akhenaton was perhaps one of the least favored pharaohs of Egypt because he tried to change the states religion. Akhenaton ruled between 1353-1335, during his reign he abolished the patheon of god which had been worshipped since the beginning of their civilizations in favor of Aton, whom the pharaoh declared the one true god . Moreover, he made himself and his wife the only representatives of this new religion from which only through them can their new god make revelations. In addition to closing all the temples, he outlawed the old religion and suppressed practices.
