Most Influential and Bold Woman
There is a one quotation “a resolution kept for only three days.” This quote shows well that it is really hard to do something continuously that people decide to do for a better future. However, there is a one constant woman who is always trying to keep her words and behavior for 15 years. She is Angelina Jolie, who is well known as global movie star, Brad pitt’s wife, director and Goodwill ambassador for U.N. since she started to find her way into acting, she got a huge fame and popularity as a worldwide actress. Even though she can enjoy a comfortable life more than anyone, she has never stopped charity for refugees in 15 years. Her humanitarian activity in the world is very remarkable and enough to make me feel that she really deserves to receive a tribute and to be admired by all people.

According to the Times, Jolie claimed for legislation to support refugees who were suffering under the troubled regions around the world while she was attending World Refugee Day in Washington D.C (Park). Jolie also gave a powerful political speech in some conferences for women’s rights. According to the Huffington post, Jolie said at the biannual African Union Summit, “We need policies for long-term security that are designed by women, focused on women, executed by women,” Jolie explained, “Not at the expense of men, or instead of men, but alongside and with men.” (Blay) At the first time that she started to do charity, many people misunderstood her behavior that she would do good thing because of her image to be more popular, but as we see what she did for refugee and women’s rights, we should definitely admit that Angelina Jolie has a beautiful mind to be entitled in all

Fight Club Essay

...Emasculating Shackles Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club is an exciting fictional novel that will hold the audience captive following three revolving main characters in Marla Singer, Tyler Durden, and the narrator himself as they take the reader through confusing twists and perspectives, while providing a most revealing closure. Although the title suggests an exclusive organization focused on violence, the novel describes the emasculation of man in today’s modern age of consumerism, societal associations and family structure along with the main and sub-characters’ exercising of power and submission to power as evident throughout the novel. Chuck Palahniuk’s values illustrate in the novel how humanity is being enslaved by the power of consumerism, brought to general awareness a new mental disorder, and how he portrayed the narrator having experienced or enacted numerous anarchistic efforts in the hopes of being freed from the confines of an industrialized and necessity-driven society. It should also be noted that several rebellious acts were performed by the fight club members and subsequently members of Project Mayhem in order to gain notoriety and power in response to being economically and socially subdued. To understand the novel’s numerous projection of emasculation, masculinity will need to be established. Man’s foundation of masculinity can be traced back to 3000 BC. Ancient societal laws implied man’s dominance and culpability regardless if any member of his household disobeyed...

...What Is LGBT? LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and along with heterosexual they describe people's sexual orientation or gender identity. These terms are explained in more detail here. Lesbian A lesbian woman is one who is romantically, sexually and/or emotionally attracted to women. Many lesbians prefer to be called lesbian rather than gay. Gay A gay man is one who is romantically, sexually and/or emotionally attracted to men. The word gay can be used to refer generally to lesbian, gay and bisexual people but many women prefer to be called lesbian. Most gay people don't like to be referred to as homosexual because of the negative historical associations with the word and because the word gay better reflects their identity. Bisexual A bisexual person is someone who is romantically, sexually and/or emotionally attracted to people of both sexes. Transgender or Trans Is an umbrella term used to describe people whose gender identity (internal feeling of being male, female or transgender) and/or gender expression, differs from that usually associated with their birth sex. Not everyone whose appearance or behaviour is gender-atypical will identify as a transgender person. Many transgender people live part-time or full-time in another gender. Transgender people can identify as transsexual, transvestite or another gender identity. Gender Identity One's gender identity refers to whether one feels male, female or transgender (regardless of one's biological...

The World in 2008

...will win the most gold medals, and bask in national pride and the global limelight. But it will also face awkward questions on its repressive politics. America and China will be prime players in the matters that will concentrate minds around the world in 2008. One of these is the world economy, which can no longer depend on America, with its housing and credit woes, to drive growth. America should—just—avoid recession, but it will be China (for the first time the biggest contributor to global growth) along with India and other emerging markets that will shine. Another focus of attention will be climate change. As China replaces America as the world’s biggest producer of greenhouse gases, serious efforts on global warming depend on the serious involvement of those two countries. If 2007 was the year when this rose to the top of the global agenda, in 2008 people will expect action. It is striking that green is a theme that links all the contributions from political leaders in this volume, whether at the city level (Michael Bloomberg), the national level (Felipe Calderón, Nancy Pelosi, Nicolas Sarkozy) or the supranational level (the UN’s Ban Ki-moon, ASEAN’s Surin Pitsuwan). The politicians have talked the issue up; will they now let people down? A third preoccupation will be geopolitical risk. The conventional wisdom is that America is...
