Eddie Fennicks had always been alone, and has always found himself getting lost in mysterious books by his favorite author Nathaniel Olmstead. This was why Eddie got so excited when he found out his parents and him were moving to Gatesweed, a little town where Nathaniel Olmstead himself lived before he disappeared. There, Eddie finds a handwritten book from Nathaniel Olmstead that he had never seen before. He decided to read up on this book and the horrifying drawings of monsters and ghouls shocked him. After every time he read a page, the monsters on that page would show up in real life and cause chaos throughout the town. He and his friends, Harris and Maggie have to work together and break Nathaniel Olmstead's code and banish the monsters
