How I Look at Filipino School Globalization

Globalization of educational system could only mean one thing––that is, to cope with the emerging need of the country to be globally competitive. This might be pertaining to the country being globally active on the aspect of upgrading or updating our education on trade and commerce, or on the aspect of socio-economic needs. As they say, no man is an island, no man stands alone, and hence, our country needs to strengthen its ties with its neighboring countries in Asia, and to all other countries for a possible interdependence. Globalization of our educational system provides a holistic approach of making sure that the masses can be well-equipped to the foregoing economic demands locally and internationally. Apparently, our foregoing educational needs have been politicized all through the years––from the previous government administration to the present. Implementations of plans oftentimes fall short as to what should have been expected. The head of the state and his subordinate from the Education Department have more shortcomings than realizations. Lack of school facilities, erroneous contexts of books, and massive numbers out-of-school youths are evident. I am in favor of the globalization and modernization of our educational system, but I am deeply saddened by the fact that the government agency in-charge does not meet the expectations planned theoretically. All were promises made to be broken. On the positive note, I guess the creation and improvement of TESDA has made a lot of impact to many, especially to those parents who cannot afford to send their children to college or universities for a degree course, and to those who were degree holders, and unfortunately were still underemployed because of the lack of career options.
