Keeping the old, Making it new
General Topic: Keeping the old and making it new
General Purpose: To demonstrate to my audience how to create a new look for the new season.
Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech the audience will be able to keep and reuse outdated clothes as the seasons change and this project is one of the best ways in which to do that.
Timed Length: 3-4 minutes.
Central Idea: To demonstrate to my audience how to create a new look for the new season.

Introduction: My favorite pair of shorts, were once my favorite pair of jeans that were damaged. I decided that although they were damaged, I couldn’t part ways with my beloved jeans .This project has been an effective way to reuse and reconstruct old or worn and torn garments, as the season changes. Today I will show you the 3 easy steps in revamping your old and out of season clothes.
I. Like most projects, let’s begin by gathering the materials. II. The first step is to gather the materials. A. The first item is your old or damaged garment. B. The second item is a pair of scissors for cutting the garment. C. The third and fourth items are: a box cutter and a bottle of bleach, both for creating designs of your choice.
I. Now that we have collected all the materials we can begin creating. II. The second step is to decide a design for your garment.
III. The season usually inspires your direction in creating your designs. There are a few steps towards completing your designs. A. First use your scissor to cut your garment at your desired location. B. Second, use your box cutter to make small incisions on the seams to create an elaborate distressed look. C. Third, pour your bleach on desired locations (use a capful at a time) to create your own unique style.
III. We now have our designs made, so, let’s finish up. A. The third step is to wash and dry your garment. B. Your now have a fashionable and much trendier new garment for the new season that was done in three easy steps. Let’s review those steps again.
Conclusion:
I. The three steps in creating a new look for a new season are: A. The first step is gathering the materials. B. The second step is to decide your design. C. The third step is to wash and dry your garment. II. I hope this demonstration will encourage everyone to reconsider throwing out their old or damaged clothing. This is the perfect time to make the effort to recreate your out of season clothes in this very efficient way because summer is right around the corner!

Childhood End

...Childhood’s End Arthur C. Clarke The opinions expressed in this book are not those of the author I EARTH AND THE OVERLORDS Chapter 1 The volcano that had reared Taratua up from the Pacific depths had been sleeping now for half a million years. Yet in a little while, thought Reinhold, the island would be bathed with fires fiercer than any that had attended its birth. He glanced towards the launching site, and his gaze climbed the pyramid of scaffolding that still surrounded the “Columbus”. Two hundred feet above the ground, the ship’s prow was catching the last rays of the descending sun. This was one of the last nights it would ever know; soon it would be floating in the eternal sunshine of space. It was quiet here beneath the palms, high up on the rocky spine of the island. The only sound from the Project was the occasional yammering of an air compressor or the faint shout of a workman. Reinhold had grown fond of these clustered palms; almost every evening he had come here to survey his little empire. It saddened him to think that they would be blasted to atoms when the “Columbus” rose in flame and fury to the stars. A mile beyond the reef, the “James Forrestal” had switched on her searchlights and was sweeping the dark waters. The sun had now vanished completely, and the swift tropical night was racing in from the east. Reinhold wondered, a little sardonically, if the carrier expected to find Russian...

...Brett Hall, R.D. ToxicBellyBugFix.com 2 WARNING: Hi, my name is Brett Hall, Registered Dietician, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in my professional, expert opinion, your entire G.I. tract (consisting of more than 20 feet of small and large intestine) has been infested with toxic “bugs” that are secretly causing a massive “bacterial imbalance” within your body—a condition that may very well lead to a long road of pain and suffering for both you and your loved ones, and even worse, become life-threatening. toxic “bugs” What makes me say this? Well, like you, millions of folks all over the world are unknowingly creating this dangerous imbalance through the ingestion of bacteriapromoting foods, medications, and other “toxic materials” that we are exposed to on a near daily basis. I’m talking about the use of antacids, artificial sweeteners, “diet” beverages and food items, certain brands of yogurt, ibuprofen, laxatives, alcohol, mouth wash and even some brands of chewing gum, dishwasher detergent and toothpaste. What’s more, this bacterial imbalance is also directly linked to the use of antibiotics— either prescribed to us by a doctor or those quietly hidden within our water and food supply—especially within meats and dairy products.1 And if that wasn’t bad enough, believe it or not, these health-destroying bacteria further feed and multiply on something you probably eat every single day—sugar.2 ToxicBellyBugFix.com 3 Fact is, if you suffer from irregular bowel...

Tell Me Your Dreams - by Sidney Sheldon

...Tell Me Your Dreams by Sidney Sheldon BOOK ONE CHAPTER ONE Someone was following her. She had read about stalkers, but they belonged in a different, violent world. She had no idea who it could be, who would want to harm her. She was trying desperately hard not to panic, but lately her sleep had been filled with unbearable nightmares, and she had awakened each morning with a feeling of impending doom. Perhaps it's all in my imagination, Ashley Patterson thought. I'm working too hard. I need a vacation. She turned to study herself in her bedroom mirror. She was looking at the image of a woman in her late twenties, neatly dressed, with patrician features, a slim figure and intelligent, anxious brown eyes. There was a quiet elegance about her, a subtle attractiveness. Her dark hair fell softly to her shoulders. I hate my looks, Ashley thought. I'm too thin. I must start eating more. She walked into the kitchen and began to fix breakfast, forcing her mind to forget about the frightening thing that was happening, and concentrating on preparing a fluffy omelette. She turned on the coffeemaker and put a slice of bread in the toaster. Ten minutes later, everything was ready. Ashley placed the dishes on the table and sat down. She picked up a fork, stared at the food for a moment, then shook her head in despair. Fear had taken away her appetite. This can't go on, she thought angrily. Whoever he is, I won't let him do this to me. I won't. Ashley glanced at her watch. It was time to leave...

...SHORT STORY COLLECTION Historical Short Stories… © Copyright, Peter Stone, 2010 www.inscribedinstone.blogspot.com Dreams Forsaken ―So why am I here, exactly?‖ queried my nineteen-year-old niece as she sat next to me. The lantern I had placed beside us cast flickering light throughout the abandoned tannery‘s darkened interior. Eerie, dust-laden cobwebs clung to every wooden beam, workbench and table, causing her to shudder. I glanced at her innocent face untouched by grief, and wished yet again that I had been born in her day rather than mine. ―For emotional support.‖ ―Then I‘m not in any danger, Aunt Margryte?‖ she asked unsurely. ―Of course not, Geruscha,‖ I said while smoothing down a ruffle in my threadbare black mourning dress. ―Do you know who owns this place?‖ ―I used to. Well, I guess I still do.‖ Memories of better days from decades past superimposed themselves over broken chairs and dilapidated benches. I bit my lip to keep deep inner pain at bay. ―So why don‘t you sell it? Seems structurally intact; surely there‘s a tanner who would buy it from you?‖ ―You ask a lot of questions, Geruscha,‖ I protested. ―You did ask me to come tonight,‖ she pouted. ―So I did. I keep this place because it suits my purposes on the odd occasion, such as tonight,‖ I answered after a moment. Geruscha‘s next question died on her lips when the front door swept open to admit a badly scarred man dressed in the garb of a common mercenary. I laid a hand on her forearm to reassure her. Aged...

During the Second World War he worked down a coal-mine; he has also worked in the New York Public Library and as a journalist. He was awarded the CBE in the 1987 Birthday Honours List.
