Four Tips to Improve Memory Whether you are taking a break from school or work, or even if you are currently working or in school and want to keep your mind sharp. Here are some easy tips to help improve memory that you can use in your free time!

1. Make sure to get your daily recommended amount of rest. Your brain needs to recharge every night, this is one of the most important parts about improving your memory. If you do not give your mind a proper rest it will not have enough energy to remember and work as well the next day. The recommended amount of sleep for children is around 10 hours a night while for adults it is 8 hours a night.

2. Be sure to socialize regularly. One of the most important aspects to improving memory is to constantly be engaging with new and old friends. Creating memories and having conversations with peers forces your mind to constantly be on the spot as compared to an academic setting which is much more predictable.

3. Play memory games. Who said learning had to be boring? There are many different memory games out there that will test your memory while still allowing you to have fun. A good game to improve your memory is, The Extreme Memory Challenge by Dart NeuroScience ( President Kenneth Dart ). This game involves pictures of different people and names flashing periodically on the screen in front of you and having you try to remember the names of each picture after they have flashed on your computer screen for a couple of seconds.

4. Exercise. In order to jumpstart your brain you have to get the blood flowing. This can be as simple as taking a quick walk when you wake up or before you go to remember information or as much as create a daily workout routine in order to incorporate exercise into your life. Not only does it help improve memory but will also help the flow of many other body functions.

Of course not all of these tips need to be added to your daily routine instantly but adding a single change to your schedule can help improve your memory each and every day. Before you know it you will be able to remember the name of the person walking up to you instead of whispering to the person next to you and hoping nobody notices.

How to Improve a Business

...It is important for you as a manager to understand the difference between leadership and management. Why? Explain fully, in your own words. Post your response by clicking Respond, then Submit. As a leader, many people believe they have the authority to manage, but that may not be the case. When you have established the role of a leader, you’ve assumed responsibilities as someone who directs or guides their fellow peers in the right path. Leadership is something that is learnt and developed over a period of time through trial and error. Those that possess leadership skills are described as being competent and having sound judgment in order to make a corporation successful, being dependable, without trust how can your employee give you their full potential to get any task accomplished, and lastly building not just a successful corporation, but a successful relationship with those that work for you. That type of leadership skill will not only bring organizational success, but also the loyalty of your employees. Management on the other hand, is not necessarily a learnt skill; with management you have a proposed organizational goal that requires people and other organizational resources. Through this never ending cycle you perform a series of task, which requires you to reach your organizations goal. As a manager, if you are only focused on gaining success of the expected organizational goal, those that work for you will often notice this and create a work environment of......

How to Improve Education

...Education as an important aspect of our society has a considerable amount of attention.  But today the current education system especially in this country does not fully grant the societal needs of the present time. Education must to be improved, so that it is friendly to both teachers and students. First of all the system should be learning-centric rather than exam-centric and the whole approach to the learning process should be changed. Undergraduates must be allowed to choose subjects according to their interests. Instead of taking notes from the teacher and textbooks, they must be made to research information on their own from library books and the Internet. Students must be taught how to gather and analyze information from multiple sources, including interviews, reference materials and the Internet. This will help them to develop good reading habits, self-confidence and openness to criticism. But more important is that it will help them to develop analytical skills and critical reading. Undergraduates should interact in groups and express their views on various topics and issues and this will contribute to the development of communicative and social skills. The system of higher education should be focused on the personal development of undergraduates. The new technology must be a significant part of the development of educational system. Nowadays every life facet involves technology. Using new technologies each higher educational establishment can create its own data......

How to Improve Your Memory

...Psychology 101 April 29, 2012 How to improve your memory The three fundamental principles underlying the use of mnemonics are imagination, association and location. 1. Imagination: is used to create and strengthen the associations needed to create effective mnemonics. The more you visualize and imagine situations, the more effectively it is to be recall later. The imagery used in mnemonic can be violent, vivid or sensual as you desire. 2. Association: this method is where you use associations as a memory trick. Some examples are. Placing things on top of each other. Crashing things together. Merging images together. Wrapping them around each other. Rotating them around each other or having them dancing together. Linking them using the same color, smell, shape, or feeling. 3. Location: gives a coherent context, which you place information so that it hang together, and a way of separating one mnemonic from another. Here are a few other mnemonics, which might also be helpful. Acrostic, Rhyme & songs, and chunking. 4. Acrostic: are similar to acronyms in that the first letter of the word that is to be remembered is used to make sentences. Some examples of this would be, a. My Dear Aunt Sally, (mathematical order of operations, Multiply and Divide before you Add and Subtract) b. Kings Phil Came Over for the Genes Special (Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Genus, Species) 5. Rhymes and Songs: use your auditory memory and can be useful......

How to Improve Teaching Quality

...Quality Management Journal, 6(2), 9-21 (1999). HOW TO IMPROVE TEACHING QUALITY Richard M. Felder Department of Chemical Engineering North Carolina State University Rebecca Brent College of Engineering North Carolina State University An announcement goes out to the faculty that from now on the university will operate as a total quality management campus. All academic, business, and service functions will be assessed regularly, and quality teams will plan ways to improve them. A campus quality director and a steering team are named, with the director reporting to the Provost. All university departments appoint quality coordinators, who attend a one-day workshop on quality management principles and return to their departments to facilitate faculty and/or staff meetings at which quality improvement is discussed. Many faculty members are irate. They argue that TQM was developed by and for industry to improve profits, industry and the university are totally different, and talking of students as "customers" is offensive and makes no sense. They make it clear that they will have nothing to do with this scheme and will view any attempt to compel them to participate as a violation of their academic freedom. What happens then is…practically nothing. Some changes are made in business and service departments, some curricula are revised, and a few instructors make changes in what they do in their classrooms but most go on teaching the way they have always taught. After two or......

Exploiting Memory Access Patterns to Improve Memory Performance in Data-Parallel Architectures

Index......

How to Improve Employee Motivation

...Elisabeth McCall Organizational Behavior Mrs. Shute/ W @ 12:00 July 22, 2015 How to Improve Employee Motivation Unfortunately there has been a huge decrease of employee motivation in the workplace, which has negatively affected the whole atmosphere as well as the company’s finances. With that being said, there are ways that we can resolve this issue. According to my research, there are three main solutions that will work on improving our employee’s motivation. These solutions are to: communicate better, be an example and empower others to succeed. The first solution to motivation is to communicate better in the office. Listening is the first step that is key to communicating effectively. One must give their complete and undivided attention when someone else is talking with out any interruptions in order to receive the full message. After listening, comes paying close attention to the speaker or receiver’s body language. If someone is crossing their arms this means they are emotionally unavailable. Other cues include touching one’s ear or nose which can mean that the person is either uncomfortable or they are uninterested in what the other person is saying. If someone is uninterested or uncomfortable, the best thing to do is to start with an icebreaker or say something personable. Another helpful tip is to observe someone’s tone as well as your own. Tones can come off as being too casual or too aggressive. It is best to say things in a firm way but not too......

How to Improve Interdepartmental Communication

...How to Improve Inter-departmental Communication Everyone experiences of being the one in groups, and inevitably communicates with the people who are surrounding. Definitely, communication is the most common way for human beings in the world. And due to the advancement of information technology, today’s organisation communication channels have been broadened. However, communication barriers potentially come up within inter-departments. Sometimes, important information simply gets lost because someone doesn’t know that it needs to be received or how to share it, and group members don’t communicate to each other effectively. Thus, it’s important for the hierarchy, regardless of the type of the organisation, to take a thoroughly consideration of the ways of controlling the communication to get rid of any adverse factors. What kinds of communication are required for participating in a group especially in an inter-department? This essay will primarily focus upon recognising the poor communication issues that emerge in inter-departments, and then how to cope with the problems effectively from a management perspective. Recognising the causes of poor communication is an important step towards avoiding them (Judith 2012, p.6). Why is poor inter-departmental communication incurred? Firstly, different people have diverse personalities. Someone prefers being quiet with few words, and someone favours in being loud and eloquent. If such two types of people communicate, the......

How well you listen has a major impact on your job effectiveness, and on the quality of your relationships with others. We listen to obtain information. We listen to understand. We listen for enjoyment. We listen to learn. Given all this listening we do, you would think we'd be good at it! In fact most of us are not. Depending on the study being quoted, we remember between 25% and 50% of what we hear. That means that when you talk to your boss, colleagues, customers or spouse for 10 minutes, they pay attention to less than half of the conversation. This is dismal! Turn it around and it reveals that when you are receiving directions or being presented with information, you aren't hearing the whole message either. You hope the important parts are......
