How to Manage Your Time During a person’s life, the need to prioritize their time at one point or another is a necessity. Having deadlines with work, children’s after-school activities, family life and/or illnesses, and going back to school; all of these situations call for a better scheduling of time. This paper will be focusing on managing time to go back to school for most adults using Stephen Covey’s articles about time management. As adults, having a set routine to get through the day is very helpful. However, when adding college into the mix, everything can feel out of kilter and overwhelming. If a day-to-day or a monthly calendar/schedule was at a person’s fingertips, and it was setup to show all aspects of their life’s responsibilities, much of the stress could disappear. Stephen Covey was a world-renowned author of time management in today’s world. During his life, he wrote numerous articles and books that covered how to schedule a person’s time to assist in making the most of every minute in their life count properly. His book entitled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, if one follows will help turn completely disorganized and overwhelmed people into a fully-functional-know- what-I-am-doing organized and on-top-of-each-situation person. Starting with the most important habit, Be Proactive, which means to be prepared for the unseen and being able to adjust to what life throws at a person. Unforeseen situations can cause a kink in the world, but one can be ready for almost anything by being proactive. If a deadline or paper/assignment is due on a specific date, have the work done ahead of time in case of an emergency or whatever life throws into the mix. In other words, be prepared. The second habit of Covey’s is to begin with the end in mind. Visualize what is to be...

Furthermore, I have to be able to understand how to best deal with the pressure that comes with school. The various deadlines that have to be met will increase my stress levels. My parents were encouraging with college but not overly so and I didn’t feel that overwhelming urge to get a degree. I began working full time after high school to support myself and my education just fell to the back......

Alcohol Consumption Among Freshmen

...common among freshman in colleges. Excessive consumption of alcohol can cause addiction, and this situation are known as alcoholism which is more dangerous because one cannot do without alcohol. Consumption of alcohol is dangerous because it causes disorder, road accidents if drunken people drive, can cause miscarriages to pregnant mothers, loss of jobs due to failure of one’s responsibilities at work and divorce among many others. Research shows that freshmen in colleges consume alcohol at much higher rates than other students. This may be because the young adults love to experiment with alcohol and most of them it’s their first time to have faced decisions about alcohol. Stress is also viewed as a factor that makes these students drink since many of them when interrogated claim that they drink to reduce stress. Stress is a major cause of alcohol consumption to college students because just a little consumption of it, makes one feel closer to his friends, his mood is lifted high, one starts paying attention to the moment and so, they end up becoming more care free. Alcohol consistently reduces the body's physiological stress reaction. This is dangerous because overtime it may become a vicious circle and one will be forced to drink more and more to gain its stress-decreasing effects. Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility and College Success Donique Tulloch GEN200 November 4, 2013 TJ Tijjani Personal Responsibility and College Success It is my personal belief that even though sometimes other people or a situation causes us misfortune and is to blame, we are inevitably accountable for own actions. This is so because we have free will and can make our own choices in life. What we sometimes fail to realize is that every choice has a consequence, whether good or bad and that choice leads us down a certain path. What that path holds for us will depend on the other choices we make. Personal responsibility for me, is accepting that we are to blame for our failures in life. It is holding ourselves accountable for our own choices. However, the legal definition is not much different from my own. Responsibility, a noun, is the state or fact of being accountable for something within one’s power. In order for anyone to achieve success in college, we must first accept personal responsibility for our grades and participation and also to find a balance between college, personal life and work if we are employed. We must make our choices carefully and weigh our options taking into consideration the importance of educational success. Extra Credit is sometimes offered to those who have absences or poor grades, it is our responsibility to seek this information. If we miss a class, a test or an assignment it is our responsibility to explain our absences to our instructor...

If you are high schooler that is getting ready to graduate and go on to college; there are usually the same questions that all students have. What will it be like? How different is it from High School? It is important for all students to be prepared for the road ahead. Some ways to be prepared is to research and talk to anyone that might have gone through it already. Homework College and High School both have a lot of homework but there are many differences when it comes to the homework you are given. In high school you are given homework from textbooks rather than home work from the internet. Homework in high school always seems more cut and dry; there is usually a right and wrong. College there is a lot of “What is your opinion on this topic?” College requires more written assignments then high school. Also most individuals that are in College have more than just school and homework to worry about completing. It’s funny that when you are in high school all you can think about is getting out and growing up but when you are in college with all the other responsibilities that you obtain, all you want to do is go back to a simpler time. How I Learned Essay

...How I Learned Essay In the beginning I was debating on should I go to school or just stay at home, and just stick to playing the organ at church. Something in my head told me to go ahead to go back to school so I can further my education. Since I love to be on the computer all the time I decided to find something to do with computers. When I heard my brother and my friend came in the house talking about Brown Mackie College. I looked in the book and then that’s when I saw Information Technology I knew it would be something very interesting when I looked at the courses. The first day of class in Professional Development, the first thing I learned how to get out of my box. This class has helped me out a lot, because I have got a chance to get to know my fellow classmates and made new friends. Getting out of my box gave me confidence that I really need. Stepping out of my box has shown me that I can make friends on campus and off campus. Second, we talked about in class was “What exactly is Success in College”. Personal Responsibility Outline

...Personal Success and College Even though some students manage to get through college without any sense of personal responsibility, to succeed in college you need to have a strong sense of personal responsibility because time management is key to being successful in college and you must properly prepare for every test and paper. Personal responsibility should be broke down into three major factors first being a good strong sense in personal responsibility followed by being properly prepared and good time management. To succeed in college you need to have a strong sense of personal responsibility. In order to have a sense of what personal responsibility is one must come up with their own definition of what that would entail and mean on a personal level. You have to assess yourself and most importantly be true to yourself, don’t lie cause then you will just be cheating yourself. I define personal responsibility as a way to better yourself. If you are responsible for your own success and take it serious then you can never fail yourself. You have to set goals and stay on track to succeed with hard work and discipline. Manage your time and resources, don’t slack or allow yourself to get lazy. I take my personal responsibility very serious; I want to succeed in college with excellent grades not just the sheepskin. ...ABSTRACT Something college students on every campus in America all have one thing in common—stress. When students experience too much stress, it takes a negative toll on their physical, psychological, and behavioral health. A stress management group would be beneficial in the Studendt Services Agency of Eastern Kentucky University, for all students experiencing stress.
