What are the benefits of attending a community college?
Attending Community College has many benefits that a lot of future students overlook. In some cases this may be true because of the lack of knowledge of the available benefits that the colleges have to offer, especially when you’re coming straight out of high school or returning to school years after you have graduated from the 12th grade. But in the foremost case, students usually elect to take the four year University Degree, in some cases this may be wise, but people should give more consideration to attending Community College, because of the ease of attending, the lower cost and the flexibility of the classes.
One of the best things is there are no enrollment essays to submit for admissions like you have in your Universities like Harvard or UNC. The test scores whether high or low still allow you to attend the school at different levels until you achieve the college course status. Then there is registration which is very easy with its open admissions policy that allows all to attend and achieve successfully.
Another good thing about attending Community College is the residence cost for each credit hour is lower that the Universities. With the cost of living this is a plus for State residence. Then to subsidize the cost further you have the opportunity to apply for Pell grants (non- loan payment) to help with the cost of your books and course expense. This is good for when you want to save your actual borrowed loans for the more expensive four year Universities. So the money you receive or borrow for the two year college will be less than the University cost.
Finally you have your overall classroom sizes (per student) which are smaller than usual. With this, you have a better one on one with your instructor to get more tests and study info. Then outside

...6 Professor Hill 28 November 2012 Four Major Problems Facing College Students Today and Possible Resolutions Going off to college is probably one of the best times in a teenager’s life. Right out high school teenagers are anxiously awaiting the arrival of college “move-in” day or the first day of school. They may look at it as a great opportunity to gain further knowledge about a particular study or better yet a way to finally escape the rules and regulations of their parents. Little do teenagers know college comes with problems, some minor and some major. Parties are thrown so that the students can have a good time (Gates). However, today, many parties have the potential to cause problems (Gates). At numerous parties drinking and smoking is the life of the party (Gates). Drinking alcohol can lead to drunkenness, which can possibly end up as a deadly situation (Gates). College Scam

...Many Americans are now realizing how college degrees affect their lives in today's economy. The job market is more fierce now than it ever was years ago. Jobs are hard to come by, and many people are finally noticing what the value of their college education really was. Many students are struggling financially to stay in college, and many do not know what the result of their education will be. Though many people think a college education is worthless now, there are two sides to the argument. The Christian Science Monitor Editorial Board, Davis Leonhardt, John Stossel, and Marty Nemko all wrote articles based on what they feel a current college education is worth. Though they all agree that college is a major issue at the moment, their opinions are different from each other. The Monitor Editorial Board believes that the United States needs college graduates and encourages people to attend college. David Leonhardt points out that college isn't very expensive and that having a degree is better than nothing. John Stossel believes that college is a scam and that you don't have to be a college graduate to be successful in life. Finally, Marty Nemko points out some flaws in the college system that students may face. All of these articles are tied together and have arguments on both sides of the issue on whether college is a scam and if a degree is worth anything. Many people and colleges tell students that people with a college education make more money than just a high...

Knowledge Is Power

...James Marie Professor Baker English 101 28 February 2012 Knowledge is Power, Power is Success. How successful are you? When looking for a job in today’s world it is known that companies aren’t concerned with whether someone couldn’t attend college because they couldn’t pay for it. They only care about whether a degree is held or not. This is why being part of the lower class has been so difficult for students wanting to continue their education. Preparing for a successful future begins with a quality education. For many students, however, the quality of the available education is dependent on their financial circumstances. In order to ensure that all American citizens are as successful as they can be, access to quality education must be based on effort and commitment, not an individual’s ability to pay for it. Today most people would agree that education is the key to success. It is almost impossible to have a successful career without having an advanced education from a superior school. Businesses and companies depend consequently on what school someone graduated from and what degree they have, that it creates an unfair bias and almost makes it impossible for someone to compete for a job when they could not afford the same education. In today’s economy it is more challenging to acquire a successful career. Businesses have become further meticulous in their hiring processes and are not speculating towards undergraduates to employ. Businesses are looking for applicants...

Personal Responsibility

...| It Is My Responsibility To Be A College Success | What I Need To Do To Achieve Success As A College Student | | | There is a correlation between personal responsibility and college success because a student has to be willing to put forth the effort required to achieve a successful college career, develop relationships with instructors, and choose what type of success they want to have throughout their college profession. | When thinking about the phrase, personal responsibility, several different definitions come to my mind. It means taking accountability for my own welfare. Personal responsibility can signify that I am responsible for the choices that I make in my life. I can go on and on about different ways that this phrase can be interpreted. However, I think it would be best if I began by breaking down the phrase into two parts, and deciphering each word. Let us start with the word, personal. Merriam-Webster defines personal, in its adjective form, as “done in person without the intervention of another”. The word, responsibility means “the state at which one is held accountable for one’s conduct and obligations”. [ (Encyclopedia Britannica Company, 2012) ] If we were to take both of these definitions and combine them, you would get my definition of personal responsibility. A person demonstrates personal responsibility when s/he is liable for any actions that they perform, and any choices that they choose to make. This definition not only places responsibility...

Personal Responsibility Is the Fuel for College Success

...Responsibility is the fuel for college success XXXX GEN/200 XXXX Instructor: XXXX Personal Responsibility is the Fuel for College Success Although many people attend universities and colleges, not everyone has a successful college experience. Success in college relies on many things. Dedication, a positive attitude, and good time management skills are just a few of requirements for a successful college experience, but without the one most important component, college success is not possible. The most important component in the equation for s successful college experience is personal responsibility. Personal responsibility is necessary for college success. An example of a car can be used to demonstrate college success. A car may have all of the necessary components to run; an engine, transmission, wheels, etc., but without fuel, the car will go nowhere. No matter how good all of the parts of the car seem to be, without fuel, the car will not move. In the case of college success, personal responsibility is the fuel. Just as a car goes nowhere without fuel, college success cannot happen without personal responsibility. A college student may have everything they need for college; the course schedule,...
