Role synopsis
The Deputy Manager Procurement will be responsible for implementation of packaging supply market sector strategy & tactics with regards to vendor management, development, performance measurement and overall compliance
Key accountabilities
• Understand the procurement strategy for all packaging material categories and support implementation of long term and short term plans as per the procurement strategy.
• Compliances & controls – Due diligence on vendor selection, evaluation, qualification & introduction. Vendor Contract management & service level agreements. Business continuity planning for vendors, identifying single dual sourcing risk and resilience. Responsible of internal & external periodic audits. Ensure compliance with the corporate procurement policy & procedures in day to day operations.
• Supplier performance & KPI measurement – Manage vendor ratings & KPI measurement system, monitor, control and drive improvements with vendors on key deliverables such as service, quality & compliance.
• Vendor Management – Manage & map vendor capacities across categories with respect to available tool inventory, identifying & tracking market requirements for expanding capacities for improvement in customer Service. Responsible for managing critical relationships & resolving issues with vendors.
• Annual & monthly Budgeting & Planning, coordination for approval and allocation of New / additional processors on all India basis.
• Participation in e-procurement, tendering activities like ground work preparation, Vendor short listing, Inputs for RFQ development, Post bid cost evaluation & negotiations, Generate cost analysis for review & negotiation support to packaging procurement manager.
• Tracking of Commodity index & material outlook for all the categories of packaging materials

While many have cited it as a poor decision, it was poor execution and HP’s internal conflicts that created a situation that resulted in HP writing of $8.8 Billion dollars of Autonomy’s value. HP’s relationships with its employees, shareholders, and partners have been damaged. The acquisition, therefore, has proven an example of poor execution. If the purpose of a merger or acquisition is to increase the economic value of the resulting consolidated corporate enterprise, the 2011 acquisition of British software company Autonomy Corporation by Hewlett Packard failed on several levels. HP’s corporate culture was such that even the decision for the purchase was fraught with internal conflict and began on an inauspicious note. When Autonomy was folded into HP, HP’s management structure did not fully integrate the new asset into the corporate line, quickly losing any industry advantage the acquisition would have brought.
