The two companies I am proposing to research on for the purpose of this course project are forces to reckon with in the world of electronic and electrical business, with focus on the telecommunication handheld devices - Nokia and Samsung electronics. It is a known fact that the two companies are known all over world with their uniqueness in the production of mobiles phones even though Samsung electronics has it named well rooted amongst the giants of home electrical and electronics home appliances manufacture while Nokia was known to be one the world leading manufacturer of mobile phones. In the recent year about two decade ago, the discovery of the innovative transformation of the telecommunication sector led to ever increasing opportunity that is abound with new technological revolution. The course project will focus or lay emphasis on the trend of organizational changes, with the view to analyze the effect they have on the overall developmental progress of the two companies. Samsung electronics founded in 1967 but took it turn into telecommunication business with the establishment of Samsung mobile in 1983 and as for Nokia, it became incorporated in 1967 with its core business focus in wireless technology and the early 70s' during the inception of cellular phone, with it incomparable innovative services and products, Nokia became the world leader of mobile phones. In the recent times, Samsung mobile took up the market and build up it market strength that unseat Nokia as a leader in mobile phone market.

Considering this historical instances or antecedents up until this recent time, I became fascinated with the need to study how organization changes were implemented within these two companies that resulted into present organizational status of each the company. Also a critical comparison study will be done to find out what was responsible for the paradigm shift experienced between the two companies since its inception. The course project title will be tag as "The making, the rise and fall of kings - Nokia vs. Samsung"

...Week 1: Why should companies change? - Lecture Change Management Change Management for the U.S.A. | Using the Course Lectures | Change is a Process and a Decision | Hewlett-Packard | Kodak | Why Companies Change | General Environmental Tutorial | Pressures for Change Matching Interactive | References The theory and practice of change management for organizations encompass a wide breadth of behaviors, perceptions, activities, planning stages, and even political scenarios. As we lead you through this course, please plan to research and review the many current events and discussions about leadership and business which are available in business publications, online research, and the Keller Graduate School of Management library. | | Change Management for the U.S.A. | | Think for a moment about the U.S. government. A large portion of the Constitution, and in fact, our national perception, creates a method of changing our leadership every four to eight years. When this change happens, people are divided or joined, exhilarated with hope, or paralyzed with fear. The U.S. government is like an organization – the best ones have a plan for change, keep it somewhat flexible, but create a foundation for comfortable yet fluid movement through a business continuum. Successful companies keep a concept of continuous improvement (in products, service, and efficiencies) always in the forefront. Whereas the U.S. plan for change is not so flexible, it does take into account the considerations...

Hrm-587 Proposal

...Developing a Mobile Application for Online Courses at Becker Professional Education Developing a Mobile Application for Online Review Courses at Becker Professional Education Proposal This proposal will discuss the benefits of enhancing the now online training course into a mobile application, for Becker Professional Education. Currently, Becker uses a website portal for students to access their review materials. By developing a mobile application it would enhance the technology and allow students a more convenient way to review the courses not only online, but also through an application on their mobile device. The mobile application will not replace the online training through portal, but would enhance the students learning environment. Becker will not only see an increase in revenue by developing a mobile application for the software, it would also put the company of ahead of its competitors. Discussion of Business Problem The business problem that we need to solve is the slow product development. As of November 2012, Becker enhanced their review materials from standard textbook, and disc to online portal. Many of Becker competitors had already been using online training for their courses for some time now. This current online training does not give students the flexibility to use software on mobile devices. Currently the software can be download to work offline, however it is only available on PC computer, or Mac OS system. Students who wish to use the software...

Hrm-587 Diagnosing the Change

...Disney: Diagnosing the Change HRM-587 Managing Organizational Change August 3rd, 2014 Introduction: Choosing a Diagnostic Model The diagnostic model I have chosen to discuss to analyze Disney and several of the companies acquired throughout the years such as Pixar, Marvel, and LucasFilm’s LTD for this assignment is the 7-S Framework model. I will also briefly discuss the many changes that Disney has implemented to improve the customer viewing as well as interactive experiences at their many new, current theme parks, and vacation destinations throughout the world. The 7-S model developed by McKinsey and Company consultants Robert Waterman Jr., Tom Peters, and Julien Phillips (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). The 7-S model may be used in a variety of situations where an alignment perspective is useful, for example, to help 1) improve the performance of the company, 2) examine the likely effects of future changes within a company, 3) align departments and processes during a merger or acquisition, 4) determine how best to implement a proposed strategy (Manktelow, J. 2014). The 7-S model is characterized by seven categories: Structure, strategy, systems, style, staff, skills, and superordinate goals (Palmer et al., 2009). The structure of the company was set and solidified by Walt Disney himself. He wanted to create something brilliant and diversified. This idea would be able to change through the years and remain a competitive force in the industry. Throughout Walt Disney’s...

...Companies with similar changes. The two companies I picked up for comparison were Nokia and Motorola. There reason behind choosing these two companies is that both the companies were taken over by some big heads in the technology market, Microsoft bought Nokia and Google bought Motorola and it was happened almost at same time. So I believe this would be the best comparison that I can do from the recent times. When Microsoft acquires Nokia then it started releasing products with the name Microsoft in place of Nokia, for example Nokia Lumia is one of the best model in phone sector but after acquisition mobile phones were releasing in to the market as Microsoft Lumia. That was the huge change happened to Nokia in recent times. When Google bought Motorola with in few days it was sold out to Lenovo, of course there was some business strategy behind this drama regarding some patents and licenses hold by Motorola. The main change we can observe in both of the companies is the change in management. That’s what makes me to do research on this topic with lot of interest, and also as I came from IT background, I use to follow these topics regularly and that turns in to my course project topic. Hrm 587 Communicating the Change

...Athena Giokaris HRM587 Week 6 Communicating the Change The Target Corporation has undergone many changes due to the 2013 security breach where hackers stole personal information from credit and debit cards of at least 70 million customers. Target sales and reputation has dropped from this instance, thus eliciting changes in their security systems, changes in management, and a few policy changes in handling customer information. With the public eye on the corporation’s handling of the situation, Target has been communicating these changes through various means. The changes they needed to communicate were informing customers of the security breach, addressing the bad press coverage to shareholders, downsizing of employees, and indicating policy changes to external vendors. Target Corporation issued a statement to customers informing them of the security breach. Then CEO Gregg Steinhafel sent a letter to customers apologizing for the inconvenience, assuring that changes in security measures are a top priority to the company. It also talked about the immediate investigation into the breach and recommendations for customers to take steps in protecting their own information (Chmura, 2013). Throughout the coming months, Target Corporation provided updates into the change processes by issuing statements to the public through media outlets. The company has since created a question and answer page on their website about the data breach for everyone to have access to, and provides...

Determining Hris Needs

...Systems Consideration in HRIS In today’s knowledge economy, organizational success depends almost disproportionally on the performance of Human Resources (HR). To increase the effectiveness of Human Resource Management (HRM) organizations are becoming more dependent on human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). A HRIS organizes employee applicant and qualifications, organizational demographics, recruiting, professional development, performance appraisals, payroll, retention, and attrition. Organizations that implement HRIS’s improve the organizations administrative efficiency with faster information processing, improved employee communications, greater information accuracy, lover costs and overall HR productivity improvements (Beadles, 2005). When selecting a HRIS, Human Resources (HR) should consider the efficiencies of using software as a service, the inefficiencies of various Microsoft Access based database software, the risks involved with integrating and combining multiple products into one system, and the consequences of improper database maintenance. In analyzing HRIS’s that would be beneficial in my current organization I chose to focus on HRIS Pro by Micro Systems, and MyHRIS by Nuview Systems. Commercial Database Systems HRIS-Pro information management software allows organizations greater effectiveness in managing HR functions and responsibilities. The advantages of HRIS-Pro are the information systems cost, modular flexibility, expansion capabilities,...

Column Case HR only disadvantage would be its price; smaller businesses might not have the resources to afford its services. HR Quik is a Human Resource Management System that simplifies the processes and procedures of tracking employee information and generating forms that are critical to the employment process. HR Quik advantages include affordability, user-friendly; can easily track history of job, salary, and manager changes, track benefits plans by employee, employment forms are easily generated and ready to print, and running reports are hassle free. ...Running head: ADP Functionalities ADP Functionality Kenya Clark DeVry University Introduction My introduction needs no introduction because ADP Vantage Human Capital Management (HCM) does it all. In detail, this software does everything but the employee’s work duties. Its functionality software extends beyond a basic logging system and equips businesses with the tools to improve the company-employee relationship on multiple fronts. A valuable HCM solution may also assist with increasing employee satisfaction and motivation, as well as automate many of the tedious administrative tasks involved in managing human capital. When reviewing software options, it’s important to look for a solution that is customizable to address your company’s specific business needs, easily integrates with your existing payroll and HR software and collects data to produce valuable insights into retention patterns and workforce strengths and weaknesses. ADP Functionality ADP vantage HCM, is one of the most widely used software for HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) in the United States. With the right training from management, employees would remain motivated and begin to enjoy the company while increasing their absenteeism, and their respect for their company while making the employee’s feel like they are a part of a family outside of home. Riordan

...Running head:   Human Resource System Executive Summary In 1992, Riordan Manufacturing Inc., implemented and established human resource information system (HRIS), which was included as part of a financial package. The HRIS package included functions such as maintaining personnel information, pay rate and tax information, hire and seniority dates, vacation leave for non-exempt employees, and organizational information. However, certain areas of the HRIS could be improved upon and developed. One area that needs improvement is the network communications between headquarters and all the Riordan plants. Improvements are also needed in central repository, resume storage, maintaining training and knowledge skills information, online employee user interface, and a central location for updating and maintaining employee personal and professional information. Improving the current HRIS activities would be advantageous to Riordan leadership and their employees. Hugh McMCauley, the COO for Riordan Manufacturing requested that the human resources (HR) system be analyzed to integrate the existing variety of tools in use in the present day to a single integrated application. The request will take advantage of a more sophisticated look for information systems technology in the HR department at Riordan Manufacturing. After the project is to be completed, Riordan Manufacturing will then be left with a detailed project plan that will provide a list of tasks, resources, schedule and budget required...

Castle’s Family Restaurant Business Plan: Stage Iii

...Executive Summary Castle’s Family Restaurant has been a highly successful restaurant operating in the northern California area for the last thirteen (13) years. As a family-owned chain, the restaurant as proven success by operating eight (8) restaurants under the family name. In an effort to continue achieving the high levels of success that it has experienced over the years and possibly expand further, certain aspects of the operation of the company will have to be controlled by technology. One such area is the HR process that has become a manual, time consuming, daunting process. Castle’s can improve their HR operations and support their growing company overall, by implementing a web-based HRIS. After much research and evaluating the needs of the organization my recommendation to help with automating the HR process would be Asentis. This web-based software would be an asset to the restaurant chain. It would assist the operations manager, Jay Morgan is carrying out his duties in a more time effective manner rather than driving from store to store to deal with HR issues. Asentis is secure, comprehensive, caters to the needs of a growing business and is very easy to use. Asentis will assist with the payroll process and other aspects of the business including scheduling, benefits management etc. Additionally, with a staff of 340 plus, having this system will allow for better scheduling which can also be tied into the payroll system once implemented that way. The software...
