The Housing Authority of Baltimore City focuses on the homeless and low income demographic by providing housing needs to low income families within the inner society to help promote self-sufficiency through providing safe, affordable, and decent housing to its tenants. The Department of Social Services meets various food, income, childcare, and family support needs by serving the elderly, homeless, low income, and disabled demographic. Over time society has influenced both agency’s decisions to meet the needs of the demographic needs by helping to identify what the current socio-economic needs are in each community. The difference I observed in the ways each agencies attempts to meet human needs is that The Department of Social Services offers immediate help, while the Housing Authority does not.
