Your client has come to you with a goal of participating in the short course of a triathlon in 12 months. Address steps 4-8 from the article above in developing a strategy for motivating this client and helping the client reach her goal.

A triathlon is a fun course and the client is allowing themselves enough time to properly prepare without getting overwhelmed. To start, I would explain that this involves three different phases: the run, swim, and bike. So they will be working different muscle groups for each activity and that they are all big muscle groups of the body. Instead of looking at the big picture I would have them break it down and focus on small goals. Some smaller goals to start with would be start running two-three days a week for about 1-2 miles. Once comfortable with that register for a 5K run. After that set a goal for a 10K run. While including the runs I would also incorporate strength training and maybe suggest they meet with a trainer once or twice a week for 30 minutes to work on strength making sure the trainer knows what they are training for so they can work the proper muscle groups. I would also suggest maybe a cycling class as biking can be somewhat lonely. Again, I would start small and celebrate the small accomplishments, then move on to the next goal. I would have them write it all down on separate pieces of paper so that they are only concentrating on one goal at a time. For example, the first piece could be: run 2-3 miles 2 days/week, strength train once a day and cycle once a week for the first week increasing intensity as needed. Next I would suggest that they maybe try and do this with a friend or family member. That way they have a support group not only behind them but with them. Also, if they do sign with a personal trainer they will have additional support and someone holding them accountable for their workouts!

Time Management Challenges

...2016 Do one thing at a time #16 Doing one thing at a time is not a very good skill for me. On a scale from one to ten and one being the worst I would have to say that I am at a two. For me that means I have no clue what that even means any more now that I have children. I have three children, go to school and work two jobs. Don’t get me wrong I would love to be able to only do one thing at a time but it seems to be impossible with what all I have to deal with and do in a days’ time. With that being said if I ever wanted to do one thing at a time I would have to learn how to do it all over again and get out of the mindset that I need to get everything done and get it done right away. I am willing to try to learn it all over again but chances are I will have to practice when the kids are not home so I do not get distracted. The other thing is I need to not watch tv when I am doing other tasks or even doing homework. This would be the biggest problem for me is always having the tv on where ever I am at. * Switching between tasks takes time even if we are not aware that it does and what our minds are required to do (page 75). It also says in some cases multitasking can be very dangerous (page 76). Chances are you can and will get more done and be safer if you just focus on one task at a time (page 76). It says in the book it would be a very good skill for me to learn if I have small children (page 76) which I do have one small child. She is a one year old. Doing one thing...

...controversial ever since man’s existence. How do we know which religion is correct, or does each religion each contain a piece of truth? This topic is the most argued and yet the most sensitive in human civilization. Religion is an extremely confusing topic that I have never truly discussed with anyone outside of my parents. I have been told that I am Catholic and I have been baptized, however, I do not have a strong grasp on my belief. I believe in evolution, there is clear evidence that proves man as evolved over the millions of years the earth has been in existence. I first learned of evolution in Honors Biology my freshman year of high school. So much evidence was brought to my attention that it was impossible for me to deny the theory. On the other hand, religion has no proof and the fact that there are so many different forms of it makes it hard to make since of. The one thing that they do have in common, however, is that there is a higher being that exists. I do believe in God even though I believe evolution to be true. I think that God created the Earth and everything on it, but then evolution took over and transformed the world into what we know today. Everyone argues about what is true, but the world is a confusing place and it is possible that no one has the correct answer. Many people think the universe has a purpose and that everyone has a destiny. If I had a destiny than I feel as if there is no point to my life. If I cannot make my...

...of the course I have learned a lot of information about my self. Some of them were things I already knew but a lot of them were things I didn’t know. Over the course of the semester I took a number of personal profiling tests and they really helped me to discover some of the traits I have that I did not know I had before. By taking this class it also made me think about my values and skills. This class also helped me to consider what majors I could pick for the rest of my college career. One of the personal profiling tests I took was call the Choices Interest Profiler. The Choices Interest Profiler is a program that helps people discover their personal interest and it also gives you some possible occupation ideas that would match with you interests. My results of the Choices Interest Profiler were artistic, investigative, and social. The occupations the Choices Interest Profiler gave me were anthropologist and sociologist. I do not think my results were very accurate because I do not think I am an artistic or a social person. I think the investigative part was right because I like doing math and solving things so I think that would be under the category of investigative. The occupations the Choices Interest Profiler gave me don’t really interest me so I do not think the program did an accurate job of that either. I think the results you get from the Interest Profiler depend on a lot of things. I think the reason my results did not accurately reflect me could have been because...

Accounting

...Westerfield. I am forty-three years old. I wanted to go back to school to follow my dream of becoming an Accountant. I thought I wasn’t going to try my dream out. The reason why is I was working forty hours a week. Plus, sometimes I would work overtime. Then my husband wanted a woman to clean and cook. So, I had to sit down with my husband and with his parents to see if I can do it. They all agreed that I can do it and they will help me out. The first six months went by like a breeze. Then everything started to come back and haunt me. My mother-in-law started to complain about how I was not doing enough to help around the house. Then she went and talked to my father-in-law about why she is complaining. Then my father-in-law came to me and told me I better start helping out that he doesn’t care about how much I have to do. So, I went to my husband and told him about what is going on at home. And that I am doing the best I can. And I need him to help out on the days he has off from work. So, he said he would help out more, so I can study more on my studies. After all of this went down, I had to change my plan once again. This is how I have to do this. That is I get up I have to study, then get dress for work that takes me one hour, go to work and work eight hours, then when I get home clean up where it is needed the most that takes me one hour and half, then I will study for one hour more, then play with my dog for half hour, then go take a bath for one hour, before that I would...

...and It is one of my security needs. The information that was provided by the result of my survey, I have found that my primary personal thinking style is avoidance with a score of 99%, and my secondary as my “backup” personal thinking is dependent and oppositional both with a score of 90%. At my old job there were people trying to do evil things to get to the top and that is one of the reasons why I left so early my first job. Because I was young many took advantage of me, “bossy” people that would rather tell me to do tasks that where not related to my position as Human Resources Assistant. I do not see myself as an avoidance , in terms of personal life, but yet in terms of professional life, if I am not familiar with the work, and I am new at the company I tend to avoid situations that might get me fired for lack of evidence in my behalf. I once was working for a company a Bank one of the biggest and popular Bank back in my country. At one point I was tired of avoiding and to not have where to scream and whom to listen and would believe in me, because of that I left my job and began to work in another company. On the other hand I am completely different and in this time I believe and agree completely with my results, in terms of personal life. When I get to comfortable in a group of people I tend to tell what is on my mind in the best possible way even though I think that this group or person may not like what I am thinking. ...very Demanding circumstances Many of the factors of being a student are stressful. I have kids so that is a stressor, making Time for them and getting time away from them to do my school work. I also work full time, So of course there is the stress of will I have enough time to do a proficient job on my Homework. All of these things make for a very stressful day to day life for myself or any Other person who is in school and juggling kids and a job. This week's reading was very Insightful with all of the studies done to learn emotions and happiness, etc. It shows, one Cannot always judge a book by its cover (so to speak) for example, I am a very moderate extrovert according to the test. Because of this I like to keep to myself, I do not like to interact with others unless I have to. I find it extremely hard to trust anyone. It sounds like a bad thing, but my situation, it is not I am able to accomplish much more than most people because I keep to myself and do not go out of my way to socialize at work. I have earned many compliments on my work from bosses because I do such a great job. However, this can also be stressful for me since I don't socialize I have my thoughts to myself and they always tend to wander in what ifs. My Holmes and Rahe self-assessment was as follows: Score for openness was low, at 55%. Openness describes a person’s tendency to think in abstract, complex ways. Learning Habits

...Learning Habits One of the hardest things to do in life is to analyze or criticize yourself. A person can sit there and be able to criticize other people and pick out all the flaws, but when asked to analyze ones self, a person may find it difficult to find their own flaws. However, there are people out there that get paid to design test to help people see their flaws and help them analyze themselves. Though these test may not be one hundred percent perfect, they will give a person a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. After taking the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI), the Inventory of Classroom Style and Skills (INCLASS), and the Center for Innovative Teaching Experiences (CITE), I was able to see my strengths and weaknesses in my study habits. Like I have stated before, these test are not one hundred percent perfect or correct. They are not designed to be that way; however, they are designed to give a person a better understanding of their study habits. After taking all the tests, I can say that I do not completely agree with the results that came out. But, before I pass judgment, lets take two thing into consideration: first off, I may not have been honest with myself in answering the questions, second, the test are scored on a percentile scale based on a collection of scores accumulated from people who have taken the tests before. After reviewing my test results, I find that I enjoy working with numbers. In my opinion, numbers are...

Drinking

...Philosophy 03/11/12 Drinking I have made many big decisions in my life, but one of my biggest ones is the choice not to drink. Many people take the chance and get their scholarships ripped up or even they could possibly get caught behind the wheel of a car and get charged for the zero tolerance law for people drinking under the age of twenty-one and possibly serve time in jail. Underage drinking is not worth the risk of getting caught. Overall, I am not going to start drinking before the age of twenty-one because there are way to many risks involved that can jeopardize my future and I honestly don’t think that it is worth it. The ethical egoism of my choice is so that I would not be charged with underage drinking charges because that will stick with me for the rest of my life. It would be hard to convince my children not to drink until they are twenty-one because I would not be able to set an example if I did not follow what I was saying. Another reason I do not drink is because of the lifetime risk. Around five thousand people under the age of twenty-one die due to motor vehicle accidents, suicide, and also falls, burns, and drowning all because they had too much to drink and could not control or think through what they were doing completely. Another dangerous effect of me drinking at my age is that my brain is not yet fully developed, so it could affect my brain from developing fully. Other affects that drinking has on a person at a young age is liver problems and may...
