1. What are three things you wish you’d known before opening your syringe exchange program? (MPH students: This could be anything, large or small...slang terms for the drugs, how to write a grant, how to prevent staff burnout, etc. If they weren’t around for the beginning of the program, what are three things they wish they knew before taking the job?)

1.

2.

3.

2. What issues have you experienced in working with law enforcement? How were these issues resolved? (MPH students: This is one of the most important questions. If there were issues with law enforcement, we need to know how they dealt/are dealing with the issue. For example, are they making presentation to the new academy recruits before they hit the streets? Do they have the support of the police chief? etc.)

3. What issues have you experienced in bolstering community buy in? How were these issues resolved? (MPH students: This is one of the most important questions. If there were issues with community support, we need to know how they dealt/are dealing with the issue. For example, did they speak with elected officials and community stakeholders? Hold open forums? etc.)

4. What issues have you experienced in linking clients with available services? How were these issues resolved? (MPH students: This is one of the most important questions. If there were issues with linking clients with services, we need to know how they dealt/are dealing with the issue. For example, do they have a relationship with local treatment programs? etc.)

5. What other words of wisdom do you have to share with Nevada as we go forward in opening syringe exchange programs in our states? (MPH students: this is their opportunity to tell us what they have learned that might be unique to their program. This could be something like engaging their clients in program design, using dealers to promote their program via word of mouth, offering incentives (for example $5 gift card for every 40 used syringes returned), etc.)

6. Do you have any curriculum to share that might be helpful to Nevada as we go forward in opening our syringe exchange programs? (MPH students: curriculum could be literally anything (power points, brochures, intake forms, client ID cards, etc). If they are willing to share anything, accept it. We want to be able to show new SEPs what existing SEPs are using so they can model their own stuff after what has already been successful. Make sure they know these resources will be shared with new programs in Nevada so they can use existing materials as a template for their new documents.)

YES OR NO

If they are willing to share curriculum, they can send it to me at jflen@health.nv.gov or to you (and then please send the materials to me).

Or I can contact them to get the documents, as long as their email is listed and you make a note of it.

7. Would we be willing to share any Memorandums of Understanding between your syringe exchange programs and various entities within your community? (MPH students: a MoU is a document that shows convergence of will between parties, which indicates an intended common line of action. They might hold these with local law enforcement, the community, etc.)

8. How do you track utilization of your syringe exchange program? (MPH students:
This question is also very important! For example, we need to know if they are using ID cards to track use of their program. This information could include demographic information, living situation, drug of choice, etc. We would also like to know how they formulate the ID cards/numbers to be confidential.)

9. Would you be willing to be listed as a contact for advice and resources for any future questions that may arise? (MPH students: This question allows them to be listed as a resource for new programs. Ideally, new syringe exchange programs will be able to look in the appendix and say “Jane Doe from New Jersey had a similar issue with her program, I’d like to call her and find out more details about how she addressed the issue.”)

10. Please leave your contact information for any follow up questions. (MPH students: this information is important because we plan to create a directory of people who are willing to help with any problems that arise with new programs--we need to be able to list accurate contact information. If they have declined to be listed as a contact for advice and resources, please gather their contact information anyway. I still need a way to get a hold of them, and I need the information to keep an accurate list of who has been contacted.)

What is your name?

May I verify the name of your agency: STATE THE NAME OF AGENCY

What is your address:

Street:

City/Town:

State:

ZIP/Postal Code:

What is your E-mail Address:

What phone number should we use for your program?

Those are all the questions I have. Thank you for your time. Have a good day!

Haruhi Vol 1

...Cover Page Inside Flap Chapter 1 "Normal humans don't interest me." Chapter 2 Haruhi gets Mikuru into a bunny outfit. Chapter 7 "Hey Kyon, what's that giant?" Prologue Flap The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Prologue Prologue When did I stop believing in Santa Claus? In truth, this sort of silly question holds no real significance for me. However, if you were to ask me when I stopped believing that the old man wearing the red costume was Santa, then I can confidently say: I have never believed in Santa, ever. I knew that the Santa who appeared at my preschool Christmas party was a fraud, and now that I think about it, every one of my classmates shared the same look of disbelief watching our teacher pretend to be Santa. Although I had never seen mommy kissing Santa Claus, I was already wise enough to be suspicious about the existence of an old man who worked only on Christmas Eve. However, it took me quite a bit longer to realize that the aliens, time-travelers, ghosts, monsters and espers in those effects-filled 'good guys versus evil organization' cartoons didn't actually exist either. No, wait, I probably did realize, I just didn't want to admit it. Deep inside my heart I still wanted those aliens, time-travelers, ghosts, monsters, espers and evil organizations to suddenly appear. Compared to this boring, normal life of mine, the world of those flashy shows was much more exciting; I wanted to live in that world too!...

Innovation

...------------------------------------------------- Innovation From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For other uses, see Innovation (disambiguation). Innovation is a new idea, device or process.[1] Innovation can be viewed as the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, inarticulated needs, or existing market needs.[2] This is accomplished through more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments and society. The term innovation can be defined as something original and, as a consequence, new, that "breaks into" the market or society.[3] While a novel device is often described as an innovation, in economics, management science, and other fields of practice and analysis innovation is generally considered to be a process that brings together various novel ideas in a way that they have an impact on society. Innovation differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself. Innovation differs from improvement in that innovation refers to the notion of doing something different rather than doing the same thing better. He was a model enlightened entrepreneur, a fact that took me years to appreciate. His compassion with his employees and dedication to service inspired me to be a better businessman and a better person. When I was growing up, he liked to say, “Son, the most important word in the English language is ‘empathy.’ ” When I told him I was starting a business, his first words were, “Always treat your employees right.” He learned that appreciation the hard way, losing his father at a young age and countless war buddies in the trenches. But his love for God, country, and his fellow citizens never wavered. This one’s for you, Dad. Title

...At liftoff, Matt Eversmann said a Hail Mary. He was curled into a seat between two helicopter crew chiefs, the knees of his long legs up to his shoulders. Before him, jammed on both sides of the Black Hawk helicopter, was his "chalk," twelve young men in flak vests over tan desert camouflage fatigues. He knew their faces so well they were like brothers. The older guys on this crew, like Eversmann, a staff sergeant with five years in at age twenty-six, had lived and trained together for years. Some had come up together through basic training, jump school, and Ranger school. They had traveled the world, to Korea, Thailand, Central America... they knew each other better than most brothers did. They'd been drunk together, gotten into fights, slept on forest floors, jumped out of airplanes, climbed mountains, shot down foaming rivers with their hearts in their throats, baked and frozen and starved together, passed countless bored hours, teased one another endlessly about girlfriends or lack of same, driven in the middle of the night from Fort Benning to retrieve each other from some diner or strip club on Victory Drive after getting drunk and falling asleep or pissing off some barkeep. Through all those things, they had been training for a moment like this. It was the first time the lanky sergeant had been put in charge, and he was nervous about it. Pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death, Amen. It was midafternoon, October 3, 1993. Eversmann's Chalk......
