Besides researching more about bullying and broadening my understanding for it, my cousins had an experience with bullying and I saw how it affected them. I had a first-hand experience to hear the steps that were taking by the family, school, and administration. My cousin, female, who was in junior high at the time, was bullied by her female classmates daily. The family contacted teachers and administration for steps to be done to seize the bullying. Nothing was done by administration since two of the girls were their daughters and felt that they didn’t need to do anything about the situation. My cousin had to end up transferring schools to get away from her bullies and is now excelling in everything she is doing at her new school and has a great group of friends that really support her. I was appalled at the fact that nothing was done by administration even if it was their daughters. Bullying is bullying and no student should ever have to deal with it. My cousin was lucky enough to have a mother who is very involved in her school and life and did not stop raising concern and did not let it continue. It is where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Plains, pine trees give way to prairie grass, and the steep cliffs drop onto the steppes of the Midwest. The gulch is just over three miles long, but it marks the border between these two different terrains. The fire began on the Rockies’ side, on the western edge of the gulch. By the time the firefighters arrived at the gulch, the blaze had grown out of control. The surrounding hills had all been burned; the landscape was littered with the skeletons of pine trees. In 2002, the department of human resources began an investigation into Dr. Gene Hughes, the newly hired employee relations director for the Metro School District. Several female employees had expressed concern about being sexually harassed by Hughes. Veronica Frazier, the assistant director for the county human resources department was assigned to investigate the allegations. Frazier began by calling employees who had worked closely with Hughes, including Crawford. Crawford described to Frazier several incidents of sexual harassment. According to Crawford, Hughes has requested on "numerous" occasions to see her breasts. Hughes also, in response to the question "What's up?" grabbed his crotch and replied "You know what's up." On several occasions, Crawford continued, Hughes had pressed his crotch against the window of her office.
