My community is majorly comprised of sugarcane farming, animal keeping, maize farming and all other food crops such as sorghum, sweet potatoes, cassava among others. This is majorly because it is situated next to a very prosperous sugar company called SOUTH NYANZA SUGAR COMPANY (SONY). This makes sugarcane farming a major source of income.
The THREE major challenges that are facing my community and has greatly hindered its proper development are as follows:- 1) Lack of infrastructure such as roads, electricity and water: this is the main challenge that we face in my community. The murram roads leading to my community are in poor conditions and become really muddy during rainy seasons and very dusty during the hot dry spells. This greatly hinders easy transportation of people and goods in and out of the community. Being that the roads are not tarmacked, the heavy-duty tractors that aid in the transportation of sugarcane to the factory contribute a lot in the increased destruction making them more bumpy and the transport very hectic. Lack of electricity is another catastrophe that affects my community a lot. Electrification is quite expensive and this is something that most people living in my community cannot achieve because of the poor living conditions and the meager income that they get from selling their farm products and working on the company’s sugarcane plantations. Therefore, electricity is very sparse and only the few who have the capability are able to use it in their homes and charge the other people’s mobile phones at a small fee. Lack of clean water is another challenge that makes my community’s infrastructure to be poor. We mainly depend on streams, boreholes and river water. River Sare, considered the main source of water for domestic, farming and animal use flows through my community. It not considered safe because it is usually not clean, but it is used because it is a source of water that doesn’t run dry unlike the boreholes and the streams. This usually makes so many people end up sick. 2) Illiteracy:- most elder people in my community did not go to school and some children drop out of school at an early stage because they prefer to stay home than study. This is majorly caused by them disregarding the importance of education in a person’s life. This often leaves them mainly idle therefore, they turn to drug abuse mainly alcoholism and end up with early unwanted pregnancies and marriages, leading to living in continuous poverty from parents to children who have to depend on their farm produce for a living. Others are also unable to read and write and the only language they can fluently speak is our native language. This majorly hinders development and communication with other communities with different languages. 3) Lack of proper jobs: - being so illiterate, most people in my community lack the proper skills to get a good job. The mostly end up jobless or either as hard working labourers in the sugar factory’s farms under harsh conditions like the scorching sun and sometimes pounding rain or as law income labourers in the factory or as just retailers in their small shops and at the end of the day, they come back home with very low wages merely enough for their upkeep.
For my community to prosper and be a better place to be in, roads, water and electricity problems should be administered. The roads ought to be tarmacked and then properly maintained in their good conditions to open up the community to the other communities who would wish to engage in trading activities or to invest in the large tracts of land that are left bare. This would improve our infrastructure and by doing that, they would build income generating projects thereby leading to creation of jobs and a definite rise in income. The people in my community ought to be educated on the importance of education to their children and to them as well, the problems accompanied with early pregnancies and marriages. This would have a positive impact on most parents who forcefully give away their children up for marriage at an early age and teenage girls who drop out of school due to unwanted pregnancies.
Finally, with the foreign investments in the community comes with the benefit of construction of proper roads, electrification, better hospital, good schools and clean water supply. This will contribute so much to opening our community to the outside world and flexibility in the transportation of people and goods in and out of my community.

I have worked as a Medical Assistant in orthopedics and gained several more certifications for almost eight years and enjoy every bit of it. I want to advance my knowledge and certifications so I can learn more and do more. I feel that the intricate detail of our body is all mechanics’, there is power in knowledge and I need to know it all. How is our body made and why does it work is truly what I’m interested in. My goal is to educate myself little by little to build up to being a RN-FLA, this will allow me to work for myself at some point and build my own schedule. Education can be scary, in the sense of traveling to the unknown. I find that I am a traveler with my learning. I need to go see it all, a nosey little busy body that looks and touches everything. Peer through every window of opportunity, if I don’t know or understand when it comes to medicine or education I am the first to ask. There is so much out there to learn, see and do, I can’t help but want to adventure it. I work in a field that is always changing with our fast paced society. Without new knowledge and advanced mechanics’ you as a medical provider or support staff will find that your patient will no longer trust your advice. ...First year Learning English English language Learning is widely spread over different parts of the world. It is taught as a foreign language in many countries. In many others, it is not only considered as a part of their culture, but it is also used as a second language. These are called the Commonwealth of the English language speaking countries. The English language learners are often seen as the best judges of their own needs and wants because they know what they can and cannot do with it, and what language skills are more essential. Even large numbers of them face problems and expensive access to the necessary materials; they prefer to surf through the internet or read books and special magazines dealing with the subject. Throughout the years, the English language curriculum has been regularly updated and revised, based on the behavior of the learners. For those who want to do further studies in English, there are two main specific tests in the language: TOFEL (Test of English as a foreign language), and TOESL (Test of English as a second language). An Outline of English Literature

...ENGLISH LITERATURE ITS HISTORY AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE LIFE OF THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD A TEXT-BOOK FOR SCHOOLS BY WILLIAM J. LONG, PH.D. (Heidelberg) TO MY FRIEND C H T IN GRATITUDE FOR HIS CONTINUED HELP IN THE PREPARATION OF THIS BOOK CANTERBURY PILGRIMS From Royal MS., 18 D.ii, in the British Museum PREFACE This book, which presents the whole splendid history of English literature from Anglo-Saxon times to the close of the Victorian Era, has three specific aims. The first is to create or to encourage in every student the desire to read the best books, and to know literature itself rather than what has been written about literature. The second is to interpret literature both personally and historically, that is, to show how a great book generally reflects not only the author's life and thought but also the spirit of the age and the ideals of the nation's history. The third aim is to show, by a study of each successive period, how our literature has steadily developed from its first simple songs and stories to its present complexity in prose and poetry. To carry out these aims we have introduced the following features: (1) A brief, accurate summary of historical events and social conditions in each period, and a consideration of the ideals which stirred the whole nation, as in the days of Elizabeth, before they found expression in literature. (2) A study of the various literary epochs in turn, showing what each gained......

...major change in accounting practice for a number of enterprises, (2) its cost of implementation is low, and (3) the guidance provided by the bulletin does not conflict with any broad fundamental accounting principle. In addition, the FASB’s Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) issues statements to provide guidance on how to account for new and unusual financial transactions that have the potential for creating diversity in reporting practices. The EITF identifies controversial accounting problems as they arise and determines whether they can be quickly resolved or whether the FASB should become involved in solving them. In essence, it becomes a “problem filter” for the FASB. Thus, it is hoped that the FASB will be able to work on more pervasive long-term problems, while the EITF deals with short-term emerging issues. CA 1-8 (a) The public/private mixed approach appears to be the way rules are established in the United States. In many respects, the FASB is a quasi-governmental agency in that its pronouncements are required to be followed because the SEC has provided support for this approach. The SEC has the ultimate power to establish GAAP but has chosen to permit the private sector to develop these rules. By accepting the standards established by the FASB as authoritative, it has granted much power to the FASB. (It might be useful to inform the students that not all countries follow this model. For example, the purely political approach is...

...Student Name | | Abdulrahman Redwan | 1316429 | A Global Perspective of Human Resources For Dr. Ali Alkahtani Human Resources: A Global Perspective Employee engagement and cultural issues have become the first challenge facing HR professionals around the world, according to the 2015 Global Human Capital Trends report, released by Deloitte. The report concludes, “Today’s HR challenges require a new playbook—one that helps make HR more agile, forward thinking and bolder in its solutions.” The report says today’s organizations are facing a new world of work that will require a reshaping of strategies for leadership and talent management. Because culture is the driving force in most organizations, engagement and retention strategies need to be responsive to these changes. However, more than half of survey respondents said their organizations have poor programs or no programs at all in place to gauge or bolster engagement levels. Other issues uncovered by the report include a global lack of leadership succession programs, with only 10 percent of respondents saying they have an “excellent” program in place, and the need for a complete makeover of most HR departments. Only 5 percent believe their organization's performance is excellent, with 22 percent saying their department is adapting to their workplace’s changing needs . What is happening in HR in 2011? Are we going to see a shift in the way that HR managers are recruiting employees......

English Literature

...1. Literature of the 17th century. John Milton. “Paradise Lost”. John Bunyan. “Pilgrim’s Progress”. The peculiarities of the English literature of the 17th century are determined by the events of the Engl. Bourgeois Revolution, which took place in 1640-60. King Charles I was beheaded in 1649& General Oliver Cromwell became the leader of the new government. In 1660, shortly after Cro-ll’s death, the dynasty of the Stuarts was restored. The establishment of new social&eco-ic relations, the change from feudal to bourgeois ownership, escalating class-struggle, liberation movement and contradictions of the bourgeois society found their reflection in lit-re. The main representatives of this period is: John Milton: was born in London&educated at Christ’s College. He lived a pure life believing that he had a great purpose to complete. At college he was known as the The Lady of Christ’s. he Got master’s degree at Cambridge. It’s convenient to consider his works in 3 divisions. At first he wrote his short poems at Horton. (The Passion, Song on May Morning, L’Allegro). Then he wrote mainly prose. His 3 greatest poems belong to his last group. At the age of 23 he had still done little in life&he admits this in one of his sonnets. (On his 23d B-day) In his another sonnet he wrote on his own blindness. (On his Blindness) Milton wrote diff. kinds of works. His prose works were mainly concerned with church, affairs, divorce & freedom. The English civil war between......
