Communication has been defined as "the transmission of information and meaning from one individual or groupnto another". The definition of Information and Communications Technology(ICTs) is said to be a diverse set of electronic systemsand resources used to communicate, create, disseminate, store and manage the internet. The main purpose of communication technology is to facilitate effective communication between individuals or groups that are physically distant from each other. Specific defined technologies can be broadcasting devices like the radio, the television or the telephone. ICTs are often spoken of in a particular context daily such as ICTs in bussiness/commerce, government, health, logistics, medicine and science. However, ICTs in health will be the main focus in this discussion as I elaborate on the impact of information and communications technology. ICTs plays an important role in our modern day life. There is a growing consensus that the impact of information and communications technologies on health systems could be substantial or even revoluntary through the precise nature of the impact is much more difficult to predict, it seems that the health sector will benefit from advances in mobile telephony and Internet services. Some examples can be that patients and informal providers may routinely seek advice from doctors supporting any subscriber service implemented. Today, there are health information sysems for HIV and AIDS, there is a mobile phone-based systems that allows tracking the use of anti-AIDS drugs through text messages. More speculative issues arrive for innovations that might shift the existing provider. The use of 'expert systems' are used to guide diagnosis, recommend treatment and monitor implementation. It could transform existing power relations within the health sector by…...

...Make reasoned recommendation about how particular organisation can take advantage of IT development. As an ICT manager working for full of beans, I have made it clear that the development of ICT is increasing, therefore giving organisations no choice but to adapt to the changes. It’s my duty to explain to the owners and employees of full of beans how the ICT development can have a positive impact on the organisation. For example, fast processing which is essential for banks and vast storage capacity which reduces the amount of paper work. Hardware and software are both being used by organisation to help them accomplish certain tasks e.g. using (MIS) management information system. Hardware and software increased in power, capacity and sophistication, therefore allowing organisation to expand and work more efficiently. I strongly recommend that full of beans make use of this opportunity to adapt to the ICT developments. One great example of a new development full of beans can take advantage of is the recent wireless technology, many organisations responded to this change by adapting to the change. In order for full of beans to take full advantage of the ICT development, obviously the manager first needs a presentation on the capabilities of these development and how it will benefit their organisation. There are many new developments that organisation took advantage of, I will explain some of these development in more detail below. Wireless technology This is a great......

What Is Ict?

...Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) refers to the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the fields of socioeconomic development, international development and human rights. The theory behind this is that more and better information and communication furthers the development of a society. Aside from its reliance on technology, ICT4D also requires an understanding of community development, poverty, agriculture, healthcare, and basic education. Richard Heeks suggests that the the I in ICT4D is related with “library and information sciences”, the C is associated with “communication studies", the T is linked with “information systems", and the D for “development studies”.[1] It is aimed at bridging the digital divide and aid economic development by fostering equitable access to modern communications technologies. It is a powerful tool for economic and social development.[2] Other terms can also be used for "ICT4D" or "ICT4Dev" ("ICT for development") like ICTD ("ICT and development", which is used in a broader sense[3]) and development informatics. ICT4D can mean as dealing with disadvantaged populations anywhere in the world, but it is more seen with applications in developing countries. It concerns with directly applying information technology approaches to poverty reduction. ICTs can be applied directly, wherein its use directly benefits the disadvantaged population, or indirectly, wherein it can assist aid organisations or...

Ict Notes

...Important notes: * ICT helps today's busy families stay connected with each other.  * However, ICT can also keep families apart. Imagine today's family gathered in the kitchen for dinner. Maybe the TV is on, a laptop on the kitchen counter and everyone has their phone with them. Mom and dad are keeping an eye on emails even though the work day is technically over. So this family is physically together, but they are not totally focused on and paying attention to each other. They are at least partially attentive to a ping or a beep indicating that there is a new text message, email or missed call. * So how can we use ICT to our advantage - for increased productivity, reduced stress, and better work+life fit? We'll need our organizations to pitch in by providing guidelines about expectations and strategies for effectively managing our devices. And we will need to confer with our managers and colleagues to figure out how our work groups can use ICT to promote collaboration and working smarter.  *  technology is the best way of learning because it's a convenient way to search a lot of academic information and technology makes me know my goals * A major change has occurred in personal communication and society due to the influence of the information technology. Whereas in the past, information technology was not used every day, but in recent times, it has become the most powerful things to in many people lies. * Technology is so much apart of our lives that...

...obligations that it needs to meet. According to Wood and Brotherton (2008, p.331) Lodging businesses can no longer expect to succeed without the solid support of information technologies (IT), this is true for a variety of reasons but is partly because the current customers that the lodging establishments are looking to attract are part of the Net Generation, these people are surrounded in their daily life by IT, if these people are not provided with the technology that they are used to using they will not return, hence lost business. ICT is now a prominent part of our daily life, within the tourism industry it is quickly becoming an important tool for a hotels organisation, it enables them to become competitive and is a good way of communicating with both consumers and partners. ICT is increasingly becoming a source that is enabling competitive advantage for the hospitality industry (Buhalis 2003, p.336). (See table 1). The introduction of ICT is especially important for TVU as it is classed as a small to medium sized hotel, this is because it currently has 18 guest rooms which will be rising to 25 after the improvements have been implemented, this size of hotel was defined by the World Tourism Organisation (2000) as a SMHO when they stated that a hotel with less than 50 rooms is categorised as a small to medium sized hotel. Studies have shown that the smaller hotels can benefit significantly from the introduction of technology, these benefits can include: •......

Ict & Legislation

...ICT and Legislations In this essay, I am going to analyse current issues and developments in communication and information technology, to include digital and mobile technology and the internet. Where would we be today without technology? Personally, I would be lost, from using my I-phone or setting my alarm to using my docking station for my music. My TV in my bedroom has chrome cast, which keeps my little man safe and occupied whilst mummy is getting ready. It transforms any television in to a smart television that means you can access net flicks or you tube. My son watches Blippi, which provides educational videos for toddlers. It also helps me keep my life simple, for example using my Bank of Ireland app. I can check my balance and my direct debits without having to request a statement or going to the bank. In the past, I used the weather app to scrutinize the weather forecast, pick the best beach to go windsurfing based on the conditions. Now because I am an Irish mammy I use it for reasons that are more important i.e. when is it a good time to hang out the washing. The developments in communication technology also mean we can broadcast information to a wide audience all over the world in a short period. This is very useful for advertisements, conveying important messages and updating citizens on important news. Communications technology has helped us in many ways in our public and private lives. Businesses now use social media for advertising and marketing......
