Now that the winter break has really kicked off you are hopefully looking at your past essays and wondering what would make them QUEUC ready. For your convenience I have compiled a few tips for you as you prepare and edit your essay for the January 5th, 2016 submission deadline.
As you might know at QUEUC we have a 7-8 page requirement for submitting a paper. If you are like me and have an essay that is slightly under the 7-8 page requirement it may be time to review any notes that you had when drafting your essay. Was there another point you wanted to make but didn’t? Was there another source you could have cited and incorporated into your argument? Did you fully explore all the points of your argument? If you feel like you have nothing to add, take another look at your thesis and imagine counterpoints to it and address them in your paper while disproving them. Remember that a good thesis is arguable and you should be able to come up with a counterargument. …show more content…
Are there any times when you repeated yourself or restated your argument/points needlessly? Do you necessarily need the entirety of long quotations (they can take up a lot of white space)? Is there a source or a paragraph you used only to meet the word or page requirement of the assignment? If you have difficulties cutting it down because you feel as though all of the points are important consider combining points and removing one or two pieces of evidence for

...level, is a real-world situation in which you, the marketing professional, are expected to use your critical thinking skills to figure out what to do. As in most real-world situations, you have neither enough information or time to really address the problem, and you also have a million other things going on at the same time. So rather than thrashing about aimlessly, this mini-guide is intended to give you a skeleton of an approach that may be useful in analyzing these cases. The first step in any case analysis is to actively read the case. That means going through it carefully and making notes in the margins, highlighting, or whatever other methods you typically use to understand what is really going on in the case. Treat the case like a mystery novel – try to unravel the complex web of information (and sometimes disinformation) that is presented. Typically the cases will be tied to the chapter of the text we are currently reading, but that is not always the case. If appropriate, think about the principles we are discussing for that chapter and see if they apply to that particular case or not. The instructor (me) is not always good about fitting the cases and the chapters together, and these are general purpose cases not necessarily oriented to a Product Management course, so there may not be the perfect overlap that would happen in a perfect world, or somewhere like Harvard. All cases are self-contained – all the information you need about the industry, the company, or...

...on the square. Men's stiff collars wilted by nine in the morning. Ladies bathed before noon, after their three-o'clock naps, and by nightfall were like soft teacakes with frostings of sweat and sweet talcum." Page 5 Analysis The descriptive detail paints a vivid picture of the town of Maycomb, which provides some insight on Scout's feelings about Maycomb. In addition, the narrator provides the setting for the story and sets the mood for a quiet and somewhat dull town, which sets the stage for the conflict of Tom's trial. Chapter 2 Quotation "'Your father does not know how to teach. You can have a seat now.' I mumbled that I was sorry and retired meditating upon my crime." Page 17 Analysis Scout's first grade teacher makes her feel bad about being able to read, when she should feel proud that she can read and write at such a young age. Scout even apologizes and referred to her ability as a crime. This exchange demonstrates how many people in Maycomb are very small minded in their views. Chapter 3 Quotation "'First of all,' he said, 'If you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-' 'Sir?' '-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.'" Page 30 Analysis This passage exemplifies the special bond between Atticus and his daughter, Scout. Throughout the novel, Scout learns more from her father than...

It is described as integrative because it has elements of psychoanalytic, humanist and cognitive approaches. TA was developed by Canadian-born US psychiatrist, Eric Berne, during the late 1950s. According to the International Transactional Analysis Association,[1] TA 'is a theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change'. 1. As a theory of personality, TA describes how people are structured psychologically. It uses what is perhaps its best known model, the ego-state (Parent-Adult-Child) model, to do this. The same model helps explain how people function and express their personality in their behavior[1] 2. It is a theory of communication that can be extended to the analysis of systems and organisations.[1] 3. It offers a theory for child development...

Vark Analysis

...VARK Analysis Paper Family Centered Health Promotion VARK Analysis Paper VARK is a commonly used learning style that describes the way people take in information, store, process and recall what they have learned. Since people are individuals, they have their own type of learning. VARK is an ACRONYM that stands for (Visual, Aural, Read/Write and Kinesthetic). The purpose of this paper is to analyze, describe and list my preferred learning styles and strategies using the VARK analysis. As this assignment demands, I completed the VARK questionnaire and the results I obtained are listed below. This was my first time filling out the VARK questionnaire and it was an eye opening exercise for me. It reminded me of what I always suspected of my learning style but did not have any scientific evidence to back my suspicions until now. My scores are as follows Visual 2 Aural 6 Read/Write 15 Kinesthetic 10 The above results of my VARK analysis showed that I fall with in the multimodal study preference. Multimodal is a combination or choice of two or more strategies. About 60 % of the people have the multimodal study strategy. This means that these types of people have multiple strong points in areas of reading, writing, aural and kinesthetic strategies. The people that fall within the multimodal study strategy have the ability to meticulously gather information and multitask in their daily lives. The highest score I obtained is the Read/Write learning style with a score of 15. I...

...ANALYSIS: With those statements up there, I can say it matches me as around 95%. I’m going to summarize what I am like or not as a person with ENFP rate. I am a little bit crazy and cocky sometimes but I always know how to cope up and mingle with people in different ages. I like crazy new ideas and things but I love vintage or old fashioned things because they are interesting, amazing and stunning which made me different from others. Yes, I can easily persuade people especially those I just met and made them feel it was right but most of time it is right. I am warm towards others but I’m not that kind because I want people to know me as tough one so I pretend most of the time to be one but I can easily sympathize. Base on the result, I’m good keeping relationship but they should cooperate and go with my decision of being practical and yes, I’m like this and I just realized it by reading this. I am really friendly and I want them to be happy around me by telling stories but unlike in the result there, I don’t easily forget my old friends. I love being around them because I have a problem being alone because I feel depress and cry just an hour I’m alone and I think that is not normal lol. In terms of business, I agree with the result in all of it that I’m good at brainstorming and productive but it had to be an interesting topic because I can be easily distracted if it is not and I’m usually late. I do made decision but mostly they are objective if they needed to be and even I...

Ideal Self Analysis

...question that I answered in this week’s questionnaire. I knew there was a certain direction that I wanted my life, and my goals, to go, but this analysis really helped me to understand that in a deeper way. This paper will start to analyze the findings of my “ideal self” in relation to the real self and 360-degree feedback. I will be speaking on how I would like to build my strengths and reduce gaps between my ideal self and my real self. I will also, for the sake of this paper, insert some of my question/answer responses to particular questions within this assignment. The “ideal self” is an interesting concept to ponder and to study, but without a real understanding of who you want to be, and what you want to become, you are doomed to live a life of repetition, moving throughout the motions, and pushing from one stage of life to the next. The first question asked by this prompt was “What do I want to be?” (Ireson & West-Burnham, 2004, p. 12). A loaded question for sure, but upon further...

Introduction

...the assessments tell me about myself? Attitude? Work? Behavior? Personality? Perception? Attitude: I’m sensible, the backbone of any group, and believe that work comes before play. This is truly me!! I’m the one that goes in early to work and stays late to make sure that things get done, and are done on time. People know that they can depend on me. I’m the person with sticky notes on my desk and computer, so that I remember that I need to do this at a certain time, or remind my boss of a particular appointment. They know they can count on me. Work: I’m a planner, well organized, and dependable. This too, fits me like a shoe! I’m the one that two weeks before a mass mailing will be ordering in extra labels, tape, and updating mailing lists. I like to have my envelopes ready, so that all I have to do is insert and tape. I look ahead and what is coming down the road and plan my work and time accordingly. Behavior: I learned that I’m punctual, responsible, energetic, ambitious, and I have a strong sense of right and wrong. This is me to a T! I hate it when people walk into work late, or show-up for a meeting late. I still believe that people should put in a day’s work for a day’s pay. If I’m the manager, I will set a good example. I expect people to work, if they want to get paid. Personality: In the Meyers-Briggs test, I tested out as an ISTJ, meaning that I’m an Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. Again, this is me! I’m an Introvert...
