1. Discuss the five (5) major components of information management/information technology (IM/IT) governance with a focus on how they will collectively improve the quality of health care. IM/IT governance helps the organization make business decisions more accurately and in a timelier manner (Glandon, Smaltz, Slovensky, 2008). In order to complete this, five general guidelines were created. They are as follows: Develop a consistent IT strategy, Align IT Planning with Organizational Planning, Develop IT Infrastructure, Architecture and Policies, Set IT Project Priorities and Oversee Investments and Be able to assess IT’s contribution. In order to develop a consistent IT strategy, the plan created must apply across all operating units within the organization. Next, the plan must align with IT planning and organizational planning. Alignment would involve three essential elements for success. First, an alignment of purpose must be in place. IM/IT leadership and organizational leadership must agree that they are trying to achieve the same ends. Second, they must agree to work to develop goals and tactics jointly to meet those ends. Third, these two groups must share the responsibility and accountability to achieve the ends (Stacey, Skinner, 2005). Because plans may change over a period of time, the CIO and CEO should ask the who, what, when, where, why, what do we do, whom to or for questions. This will assist the organizations leadership team in staying in perspective. When developing the IT infrastructure, architecture and policies, the plan should identify the major types of information required to support strategic objectives and establish priorities for installation of specific

Im/It Analysis

...IM/IT Analysis Patricia D. Barringer Strayer University Health Services Administration HSA 599 Dr. Kadrie Mountasser April 29, 2012 IM/IT Analysis The issue of public health and its subsequent impact on society as a whole is becoming a very contentious issues for government. In the midst of an election year, public health issues such as Medicare, social security, and disease prevention are all becoming more prevalent. In the state of New Jersey, public health is no different in this regard. According to U.S. Public Health Service, over the last century, the average life span of an America grew by 30 years. 25 of those years are attributed to an increase in public health services. As such, decisions make by governments on the federal, state, and local level will have a profound impact on the community. First, as is the case with many communities, state governments rely heavily on tax revenue as their primary source of income. In the midst of a global recession, those entities that rely heavily on income tax revenue ultimately suffer as those who provide the tax revenue are unemployed. Further compounding this issue is that fact that many individuals who were formally employed full time are now employed part time. As such, their taxable income is significantly diminished. With this diminished revenue, budgets must ultimately be cut to correspond to the reduced inflow of revenue. Now in regards to expenditures two-thirds of spending is for personal health...

Daddy Im Fine, Analysis

...The song takes place in the real world – first in Dublin, Ireland and later on, in London, England. There are 2 settings, the one she moves from and the one she moves to. The one she moves from is her home in Dublin. It isn’t described in details, but the three lines in the text (line 2-4); “Where there was not too much going down, for girls whose only hope, was not to find a man who could piss in pot”, gives you a strong feeling of what kind of a place it is. It’s described as a sad place, where you can’t pursue your dreams. On the other hand, there is London, the place she moves to, which is a complete contrast to Dublin. London is a fascinating and happy place, where dreams come true. There is a link between her wanting to be a star and her wanting to go to London, therefore London as the happy and good place. E.g. she says in line 6 “And I knew I wanted to be a big star” and in line 17 she says; “I’m going away to London”. There are 4 persons involved in the song, Sinead, her dad and her 2 children. Sinead goes through a transformation, from being sad and “locked” – both by her father, but also by not having any opportunities, in Dublin, to being free and happy in London; e.g. (line 33-34) “I’m glad I came here to London, I’ve had myself some big fat fun”. One more thing that shows the transformation is stanza 1 vs. stanza 4. In stanza 1 she says that she wants to be cool, wants to stand up tall and in stanza 4 she says that she feels real cool and stands up tall. She goes...

Risk Map and Risk Plan

...------------------------------------------------- kBMS0044 ------------------------------------------------- Principles of Risk Assignment One: Risk Map and Risk Plan/Register Assignment November 2010 Outline Brief The basis of this assignment is for you to undertake an initial risk identification analysis of some significant area of a business operation OR environmental setting/issue, with the aim of producing a summary risk map and related risk plan/register. This will require you to consider for your chosen focus of study what might be key (primary) risks, how those risks may be appropriately classified and how their potential impact and likelihood might be assessed and evaluated in an objective way. The final submission will take the form of a graphical risk map (matrix) and a tabulated risk plan/register. The latter should provide for a contextualised review of the key risks, the rationale for their inclusion and for the risk assessment that you have ascribed to each risk listed. The risk map and plan are not required to show risk management responses. This assignment is worth 50% of the overall module assessment, and a guideline of 2,500 words is provided for the written (risk plan) element. Tasks within this brief: 1. ...2020 project (IMS 2020) aims to harness the ever growing momentum of internationalization in medical training and research and channel this into a quality label that will measure levels of internationalization at medical schools worldwide thus identifying leading international medical schools. In addition and in preparation for this label, IMS 2020 has been developing specialized staff training courses (STCs) for applicant institutions. The IMS 2020 Project is coordinated by the Charité University Hospital in Berlin (Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin). The project has nine project partners including six prominent European medical schools (Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Université Paris Descartes, University of Antwerp, Sapienza Università di Roma, Karolinska Institutet, Medical University of Warsaw), one Australian medical school (Monash University) and two advisory partners (Brussels Education Services and CHE Consult). Working together in the last two years the three project task forces (TFs) have established a label methodology design and a first indicator catalogue is nearing completion. Additionally six exemplary local STCs focusing on internationalization in medical teaching and research were held in spring 2012. A database of these STCs should be available to label applicants by the end of the project period. Now, in autumn 2012 the third and final project year is about to commence. With the label methodology finished and indicators reaching completion, IMS 2020 has entered...

...cross-border or international mergers and acquisitions (IM&As) have become the favored method of foreign direct investment (FDI). The form shows that IM&As go both ways: toward developing countries and from them, reshaping the world’s economic boundaries. Trends notwithstanding, researchers suggest that, overall, the expected financial benefits of M&As are often not recognized. The highest rate of failures has been linked mainly to the fact that “M&As are still designed with business organization and financial fit as primary conditions, leaving psychological and cultural issues as secondary concerns”. While as new countries start out into the free-market economic system, paying attention to cultural factors in IM&As is becoming essential. The wider cultural gap and the current trend of IM&Asbetween developed and developing countries increases the urgency of understanding the effects of civilization on the dynamics of IM&As and on issues such as corporate organization and local adaptation strategy. The present research is designed in response to this shortcoming. It examines the effects of culture on the outcome of IM&As and the variability of these effects during the different phases of an IM&A. The research focuses on the international aspect of cultural conflicts—the differentiating factor between domestic mergers and acquisitions (M&As) and IM&As. It measures success from an organization’s internal perspective, comparing what the IM&A, at inception, was expected to achieve and...

Industry Analysis

...Industry Analysis Our group realized that the Instant Messaging industry is a very competitive industry. We make this conclusion after doing the Michael Porter’s five forces analysis. In overall, five sections of the industry can be described as below: * The existing rivalries in IM industry is high: By looking through the source of information online, we figured out that there are many competitors within IM industry. Currently, there are at least 12 major players in the market. Among these 12 major players, we found that some of them exist before the founding of LINE apps, which means that they transformed from desktop IM into mobile IM. However, most of these initially desktop IMs are doing so well in the existing market due because they have lack of capabilities to compete with those entrants who target only at the mobile segment. For example, ebuddy was established in 2003 as a light version of desktop IM. They start up as a cross platform IM, which means that if you have user accounts in different IMs platform, you would only need to download ebuddy to chat with friends. For example, you have MSN and Yahoo! Messenger, you need not to download both Yahoo! and MSN chatting tools, instead you can use only ebuddy to chat in both Yahoo! and MSN. They entered mobile segment in 2009 but it appeared that it was not so attracted by the public. Overtime, different player in different geographical region dominates the market of mobile IM industry. Kakao Talk dominates in...

...ericsson White paper 284 23-3163 Uen | February 2012 Voice and video calling over LTE a step towards future telephony The GSMA IR.92 voice-over-LTE and GSMA IR.94 IMS conversational video specifications are the preferred industry choices for mass-market voice and video calling services over LTE, satisfying user expectations and providing the most advantageous solutions for operators. The specifications profile existing 3GPP IMS services, enhanced packet core and radio, and leverage telecom characteristics such as quality of service and global reach. VOICE services in MOBILE BROADBAND networks Mobile broadband has created a world of opportunities and opened up new revenue streams for operators. Opportunities are often coupled with challenges, and mobile broadband tests the position of communication services, such as voice, which today accounts for around 70 percent of operators’ annual revenue – about USD 650 billion – globally. The crucial question is how to take advantage of mobile broadband opportunities while at the same time maintaining and increasing revenue from communication services. LTE networks can deliver mobile broadband and communication services with greater capacity and lower latency. However, as there is no circuit-switched voice domain in LTE, the mobile industry will adopt a globally interoperable IP-based voice, video-calling and messaging solution for LTE, which also enables development of new innovative multimedia services. Reflective Essay in Yeaching

...level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal and professional development. The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular (IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of occasions and had previously administered an IM injection under supervision. On this occasion I was being observed by two qualified nurses, one of which was my mentor. The drug had been drawn up and was ready to be administered and the patient consented to have...
