There are an estimated 180 million smart phone users in the United States today. Personal relationships, the hours spent working away from the office, and how people pass time are all very different than they were 30 years ago. Personal relationships, in my opinion, have had the hardest hit when it comes to the advancement of smart phones both bad and good. People take less time out of their day to place a phone call to a loved one and send a text message instead. Dating is also driven by applications that we can download to our smartphone. A person can decide whether or not they want to go on a date with someone based on a profile picture. Applications such as Face time and Skype, on the other hand, have opened a door to a more convenient way to communicate with someone that may be too far away to go visit. With the advancement of cell phones, it has become harder for people to not work while off the clock.
