Energy is an integral part and an important input in all sectors of any country’s economy. The standard of living of a country can be directly related to per capita energy consumption. Energy crisis in recent years is due to the two reasons: first is that the population of the world has increased rapidly and secondly the standard of living of human beings has increased. Most developing countries at present export primary products such as food, cocoa, tea, jute, nuts, red oil and ores etc. This does not give them the full value of their resources in export. To get better value, the primary products should be processed to products for export, that is from raw materials to finished products and this needs energy. In ancient Egyptian times, tar for caulking …show more content…
Fossil oil accounts for more than half of all oil used in the world today. It is true oil is non-renewable and most nationsare heavily dependent on fossil sources for energy, these are excellent reasons and incentives for researching, investing and developing renewable energy sources.Biomass for energy,in contrast to fossil fuels provides significant environmental advantages. Plant needed to generate biomass feedstock removes atmospheric carbon dioxide, which offsets the increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide that results from biomass fuel combustion. At present, there is no researched commercially viable way to offset the carbon dioxide added to the atmosphere (with the resultant greenhouse effect) due to fossil fuel combustion. The climate change effects of carbon dioxide from fossil fuels are now generally and globally recognized as a potential serious environmental

Solar energy is a key component of any renewable portfolio (Scheer, 2007). However, many industry professionals have stated that countries such as China and Vietnam have an unfair trade advantage due to heavily subsidized industries (Lewis & Wiser). The aim of this research is to examine how implementing tariffs have affected the market growth of the solar energy market. This paper will rely on secondary sources for market information and for growth predictions. It will also rely on examples of previous markets and the historical record of market contraction after implementing severe trade restrictions. Using these sources, it can be shown that trade restrictions slow growth in the solar market in countries that implement them. This paper is designed to be used by professionals who work in the solar energy industry in order to make predictions of market changes as future trade tariffs are implemented or repealed. ...interlinked which each and other. When we talk about business, we can never neglect the environment factor and vice-versa. If a person opens a business of manufacturing Glue and Adhesives, He has to be aware of the environmental factor. The positive relation between these two components could be the awareness which is being spread all over the world about the importance of environment in someone's in today's world. ...3%) for the Euro-zone (Nederlandse Vereniging van Banken, 2014). Home ownership is a goal that has been aggressively promoted by the Dutch government, particularly since the mid 1980’s. Significant and prolonged fiscal benefits, mainly tax incentives, have been given to the Dutch people to stimulate demand with the aim of shifting residents out of the tightly held social rental market (Global Property Guide, 2014). This essay will review the result of fiscal policy and intervention in the housing market and the effects of providing ongoing fiscal benefits to first homebuyers. These effects will be discussed to the backdrop of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), what was occurring in the lead up to the GFC (circa 2008), and the role the GFC played in exposing the problems that had occurred due to the government intervention. Finally we review the measures taken by the government to roll back the incentives provided to create a more sustainable and stable property market going forward. The Dutch Housing Market Prior to the Global Financial Crisis Homeownership traditionally, has not been common in Holland. ...The airline industry itself is a major economic force, both in terms of its own operations and its impacts on related industries such as aircraft manufacturing and tourism, to name but two. This sector had its share of heightened challenges during the global financial crisis of 2000-2005 and 2008-09. The airline industry lost billions of dollars and some airlines struggled to remain in business. Today, the global airline industry consists of over 2000 airlines operating more than 23,000 aircraft, providing service to over 3700 airports. In 2006, the world’s airlines flew almost 28 million scheduled flight departures and carried over 2 billion passengers [1]. The growth of world air travel has averaged approximately 5% per year over the past 30 years, with substantial yearly variations due both to changing economic conditions and differences in economic growth in different regions of the world. Historically, the annual growth in air travel has been about twice the annual growth in GDP. Even with relatively conservative expectations of economic growth over the next 10-15 years, a continued 4-5% annual growth in global air travel will lead to a doubling of total air travel during this period. The economic importance of the airline industry and, in turn, its repercussions for aircraft manufacturers, makes the volatility of airline profits and their dependence on good economic conditions a serious concern for both industries. This concern has grown dramatically since airline deregulation...

Historically the State Has Been the Main Engine of Development

...with well-designed, consistent, and thoroughly implemented policies. Specific policy measures varied but were generally aimed at easing supply-and-demand constraints faced by private entrepreneurs. Some of these interventions were direct, and others, indirect. On the supply side, for example, the capitalist states helped facilitate the availability of capital, labor, technology, and even entrepreneurship. Thus supply of capital was boosted at times by superior tax collection and public investment, at other times by using publicly controlled banks to direct credit to preferred private firms and sectors, and at yet other times by allowing inflation to shift resources from both agriculture and urban labor to private industrialists. In this essay there will be two ideal-typical historical patterns of how state authority is organized and used in the developing world: neo-patrimonial states and developmental state. Firstly the term neo-patrimonial has been used for the state that perform on the basis of patron-client relations and personal rules. Neo-patrimonial states often emerged in societies with weak private sectors, but instead of strengthening the private sector, these states appropriated scarce economic resources and diverted them everywhere but toward productive investment. Inconsistent economic policies, failure...

Describe and Evaluate Carl Jung’s Theory Concerning Personality Types and Show How They Might Usefully Help a Therapist to Determine Therapeutic Goals

...collaboration, as he had started to move away from Feud’s theories and disagreed with some vital areas, including the nature of libidinal energy, which Freud saw as mostly sexual and Jung saw as mostly spiritual and infantile sexuality as a cause of neurosis. There was also disagreement as to the importance of the libidinal energy, as Freud saw it as pivotal and the primary motivating force, while Jung saw it as one of several forces with equal importance. This led to Jung discarding Freud’s importance of the development of the child, as Jung was concerned with the development of the person across the life-span. From this point on he worked at developing his theory based on personality types. Here in is the beginning of Carl Jung’s theory of Personality Types, which I will now attempt to explain in my own words, but before I do I would like to use one of the infamous quotes from Carl Yung himself… "We need more understanding of human nature, because the only real danger that exists is man himself . . . We know nothing of man, far too little. His psyche should be studied because we are the origin of all coming evil." —BBC interview, 1959 (http://www.alternativereel.com/soc/display_article.php?id=0000000022) Contrary to previous observations based on temperamental or emotional behaviour patterns, Jung was amongst the first to look at the psychic energy and ‘the way in which one habitually or preferentially orients oneself in the world.’ (Personality Types, page 12, para 2) Jung...

Western Alienation

...Western Alienation Western alienation is defined as a “political ideology” or regional discontent, this is rooted with the dissatisfaction of western provinces in the federal government by representation. This essay will examine the causes of western alienation in Canada by examining 3 main causes: Inter-state federalism, the senate and the importance of Quebec emerging in late 1900's. Governments in Canada have developed relations between themselves, involving government and legislation. Inter government relations resemble international diplomacy( meetings with prime minister, provincial premiers, staff and flags). Conducted by government and politicians who have to be sure of the fact that what they do in inter government relations is public and people are watching them. Proponents of the western alienation may suggest that complaints in western Canada most often have to do with matters falling within the jurisdiction of the federal government, such as trade policy, tariffs, equalization procedures, and various aspects of fiscal arrangements pertaining to federal social program investment and expenditure. The West wants fair rules and regulations regarding these matters of federal concern. Thus, this desire should not be correlated with the demand for more provincial powers or jurisdiction. The most popular form of representation in the house of commons is the senate, in Canada the senate is appointed by the Prime Minister. Although the senate in Canada does not represent...

Dividend Payout Policy Individual Assignment

...AF4320 Corporate Finance Semester 1, 2013-2014 Individual Written Assignment This essay will trace the dividend payouts of three public companies in the last consecutive fifteen years and find the key factors which affect a company’s payout policy. The three public companies, namely Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL), CLP Holdings Limited (CLP), and The Bank of East Asia (BEA), are all the constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Index. HWL  Dividend Payout History over Last Fifteen Years Figure 1.1 A glance at the figure provided reveals changes in HWL’s dividend payout in the last consecutive fifteen years. During this period, HWL’s dividends per share (DPS) climbed steadily from $1.16 to $2.08, with only four changes, while the company’s earnings per share (EPS), an indicator valuating a company’s financial performance in terms of how much earnings made for equity holders, fluctuated greatly, ranging from a low of $1.72 to a peak of $27.65. It should be noted with great attention that HWL’s DPS had remained unchanged at $1.73 for ten consecutive years before it rose again to $1.92 in 2010.  Dividend Policy As one of the biggest corporations in Hong Kong, HWL has long been dedicated to providing stably increasing returns to its investors (HWL, Annual Report 2012). The actual dividend payouts follow quite consistent with the company’s statement: four moderate rises without any decrease, as demonstrated by the above figure. Figure 1.2 The dramatic difference between the...
