Health in Americans has diminished over the years. Obesity in both childhood and adults and other related health care issues have increased and are expected to keep increasing if diet changes are not implemented. According to the American Heart Association almost 13 million (16.9%) of U.S. children ages 2 to 19 are obese. Nearly one in three (31.8%) U.S. children (23,900,000) ages 2 to 19 are overweight or obese. Over one-third (34.6%) of U.S. adults are obese (nearly 78 million adults). If you have too much fat — especially around your waist — you're at higher risk for health problems, including high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
In order to improve health in the United States and reduce the rate of obesity and other health issues, Americans need to eat more fruits and vegetables in addition to breads and whole grains. Avoid foods high in sodium, sugar, carbohydrates, and saturated fats.
It is also important to implement an exercise program. Nowadays, the American population is consumed with tv, social media such as twitter and instragram, video games, and other gadgets such as smart phones and tablets that little or no physical activity is done. Adults and children need to stay active to have a healthier and longer lifespan.
A healthier tomorrow is possible. It is the parents’ responsibility to teach healthy eating habits at home in addition to the importance of physical activity. Both subjects should be reinforced in the school system and at check ups within the healthcare system.

Britannia

...dreams were anything but. By 1910, with the advent of electricity, Britannia mechanised its operations, and in 1921, it became the first company east of the Suez Canal to use imported gas ovens. Britannia's business was flourishing. But, more importantly, Britannia was acquiring a reputation for quality and value. As a result, during the tragic World War II, the Government reposed its trust in Britannia by contracting it to supply large quantities of "service biscuits" to the armed forces. As time moved on, the biscuit market continued to grow… and Britannia grew along with it. In 1975, the Britannia Biscuit Company took over the distribution of biscuits from Parry's who till now distributed Britannia biscuits in India. In the subsequent public issue of 1978, Indian shareholding crossed 60%, firmly establishing the Indianness of the firm. The following year, Britannia Biscuit Company was re-christened Britannia Industries Limited (BIL). Four years later in 1983, it crossed the Rs. 100 crores revenue mark. On the operations front, the company was making equally dynamic strides. In 1992, it celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. In 1997, the...

Poverty

...targets including eradication of poverty. In addition to international commitments, the Philippines has been working toward poverty reduction for decades. It has even included targets on human development and poverty reduction in its medium-term development plans. The growing consensus is towards a comprehensive approach to poverty reduction. Rapid and sustained economic growth is needed to improve the quality of life of the population; at the same time targeted interventions aimed at reducing poverty are needed to reach the very poor and marginalized sectors of the economy. With poverty reduction as main goal of the government, the demand for poverty statistics has become more important. Several poverty monitoring systems are being conducted both at the national and community level providing income and non-income based measures of poverty. These have become the basis for social and economic development plans and programs of national and local governments. The objectives of this paper are to examine the poverty situation in the Philippines and to assess the country’s poverty reduction strategy and policy. In addition, it aims to analyze the current state of poverty monitoring covering national and community levels. II. Assessment of the country’s poverty reduction strategy and policy To assess the performance of the country in reducing poverty, it is important to look at the conditions of the people with respect to poverty and its other dimensions. ...INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, ROHTAK A Report on International Business SUBMITTED TO: Mr. Rojers P Joseph SUBMITTED BY: GROUP C, SECTION B Akshay Gupta (PGP05055) B. Vinod(PGP05062) Gangandeep Pannu (PGP05067) Kriti Gupta(PGP05075) Mitali Chauhan (PGP05077) ABSTRACT Nestle is the world’s largest food company, and among the world's 40 largest corporations. It operates in approximately 500 factories in 83 countries and employ over 230,000 people. In spite of its global reach, what makes Nestlé special is that each of its national companies has the flexibility to make their own decisions – in order to best meet the needs of their own people and communities. Each region can choose to sell the brands that satisfy their own consumers’ unique needs. And yet, as part of the larger organization, all benefit from access to global resources, decades of experience and our large chain of research and development centres. This makes it multidomestic in nature. The company has a history of various successful strategies which has helped Nestle each to a level which we see it today. This study is done to understand its various entry strategies in multiple geographies around the globe and also to understand its differentiating factor which make it the leading brand. Nestle has first mover and competitive advantage over its peers. It is known for its innovations, successful marketing strategies, R&D , CSR activities and localization across geographies. Csr & Its Initiatives

...1) MEANING OF CSR Corporate Social Responsibility is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives (“Triple-Bottom-Line- Approach”), while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders. In this sense it is important to draw a distinction between CSR, which can be a strategic business management concept, and charity, sponsorships or philanthropy. Even though the latter can also make a valuable contribution to poverty reduction, will directly enhance the reputation of a company and strengthen its brand, the concept of CSR clearly goes beyond that. Promoting the uptake of CSR amongst SMEs requires approaches that fit the respective needs and capacities of these businesses, and do not adversely affect their economic viability. UNIDO based its CSR programme on the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) Approach, which has proven to be a successful tool for SMEs in the developing countries to assist them in meeting social and environmental standards without compromising their competitiveness. The TBL approach is used as a framework for measuring and reporting corporate performance against economic, social and environmental performance. It is an attempt to align private enterprises to the goal of sustainable global development...

...targets, as well as a baseline performance review in several key areas. Welcome Welcome to Kellogg’s first global Corporate Responsibility Report. We hope this report provides information useful to our stakeholders, including our consumers, employees, customers, investors, business partners, community members, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations. We plan to publish a corporate responsibility report on an annual basis, expanding and improving upon this first effort. Data in this report are for 2007 except as noted. Although the report focuses primarily on calendar year 2007, it includes discussion of some 2008 events that were particularly relevant to our corporate responsibility strategy. The report covers Kellogg’s wholly and majority-owned operations, and complements other information about Kellogg available on our company Web site (www.kelloggcompany.com) and our nutrition Web site (www.kelloggnutrition.com). As part of our strategic focus to pursue selective growth opportunities, we have recently acquired several new businesses around the world. Those acquisitions are being integrated into our company, and we intend to report on them more fully in the future, once they are aligned with the rest of our business. This report uses the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 Guidelines, which provide a recommended framework and indicators for reporting. We are reporting at a GRI-checked application level of “B.” More information on the G3 Guidelines and application...

...Knowledge Area Module VI Contemporary Issues and the Ethical Delivery of Health Services Student: Harold Taitt, harold.taitt@waldenu.edu Student ID # A00293212 Program: Ph.D. Health Services Specialization: Health Management and Policy Faculty Mentor: Dr. Robert Hoye, robert.hoye@waldenu.edu Faculty Assessor: Dr. Jim Goes, jim.goes@waldenu.edu Walden University May 10, 2013 Abstract Breadth Component In this age of rapidly evolving technological advances, many of the legal and ethical issues that are challenging the delivery of health care and the health care profession are new. As we confront the legal, moral, and ethical aspects of health care, we are seldom faced with decisions that require or are resolved by simple right or wrong answers (Edge & Kreiger, 1998). In the Breadth component of KAM VI, I focus on several ethical theories and how those theories influence the way ethical issues and concerns are addressed and managed in the allocation and delivery of health care services. I critically assess and evaluate those theories, concepts, and derivative principles as they impact important decisions and the implications of those decisions within the context of social change and with special emphasis on health care management and policy. In addition, I discuss the key assumptions on which the selected theories are constructed, compare and contrast the writers’ interpretations across theories, and conclude by providing a critical commentary on the merits of the selected...

...million in 1995 to 76.5 million in 2000. During this period, the population growth rate (PGR) was 2.36 percent per year, which means the population doubling time will be within 29 years if the rate does not decline (NSO, 2001). Side by side with rapid population growth is poverty, which still grips about a third of the country's 15.3 million households (NSO, 2001a). This Country Report is timely in that it revisits the link between population/development and poverty, environment, and resources. The Report has two purposes. First, it intends to review the Philippine population/development situation, including issues of reproductive health and gender equity, from the perspective of goals affirmed in the Bali Declaration, the ICPD Program of Action and other related documents. The report's second purpose is to highlight priority population issues in the context of alleviating poverty and improving the quality of life of Filipinos. To reduce poverty significantly within the coming decade, the Philippines must face the challenge of building the capacities of its vast human capital. Only in this way can Filipino families, especially the poor, meaningfully, responsibly, and productively participate in the development process. Food Security

...Performance, Challenges and Policies S. Mahendra Dev Alakh N. Sharma Oxfam India working papers series September 2010 OIWPS - VII Abstract This paper examines performance, challenges, and policies in food security in terms of availability, access, and absorption or nutrition. Specifically, the paper addresses the following questions: (i) What is the progress in supply side of food in terms of availability at the national level? (ii) How far has India progressed in attaining access to food and nutrition requirements at the household level? (iii) What are the programmes and policies that India has followed in realizing food and nutrition security? (iv) What should be done to realize food and nutrition security for all citizens of India? Food availability is a necessary condition for food security. India is more or less self sufficient in cereals but deficit in pulses and oilseeds. Due to changes in consumption patterns, demand for fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, poultry, and fisheries has been increasing. There is need to increase crop diversification and improve allied activities. It may be noted that the slowdown in agriculture growth could be attributed to structural factors on the supply side, such as public investment, credit, technology, land and water management, etc., rather than globalization and trade reforms per se. Access to food can be increased through employment due to growth in labour intensive sectors and/or through social protection programmes. The malnutrition...
