Motivation is a very fundamental aspect in the development of human beings. Life is always full of various ups and downs and when the worst happens, motivation is all what it takes to keep us going. It is a kind of force that usually drives human beings into action. We dream of success but without working on our visions, we will not achieve. We therefore need motivation on our daily lives to influence our behavior and the ability to fulfill our dreams.
Motivation can be achieved through different methods. Each method has its own unique way of influencing out personal behaviors. Of course we have different methods of motivation since different individuals exhibit different personalities. Everyone is therefore influenced differently with each method. Let’s briefly check on the following effective methods of motivation:

1. Creating motivation through desire

Perhaps you have ever noticed the incentive and ambition you had when you attempted to reach certain aim that you seriously wanted to achieve in your life. Trust me, this is the same approach you can use to develop your personal motivation and significantly improve it. The main point here is to visualize all the good things or benefits you will get from your hard work. It is this desire to achieve something that can effectively be used as a method of motivation. Try this, it really works!

2. Develop interest on your goals

Having interest in doing something is a great incentive to achieve it. Just imagine of some subject that you really hated while in school, probably mathematics. Did you ever realize that it was very difficult to motivate yourself to revise for the subject even when exams came knocking? This is simply because you had no incentive to studying math. Your lack of interest in the subject did not push you into working hard to understand it. Interest is very crucial if you want to get motivated into striving to achieve your goals.

3. Avoid depression

Negative feelings should be dealt with accordingly as soon as they start showing up. Depression is very bad and can discourage you from moving in the correct direction. You can deal with bad moods by doing something that you like. You can share jokes with your best friend o even watch funny clips if you like that.

4. Divide your long term goals into small and achievable goals

Doing something in well executed steps will yield good results. You should therefore divide your ultimate goals into sub goals and deal with them step by step. Achieving good results in your sub goals motivates you into moving on and executing the next goal in line. You will therefore realize that you have achieved your final goal effectively and efficiently.

5. Maintain a healthy state of mind and body then reward yourself

Another key motivational method is simply living a quality lifestyle. Ensure that you have a lot of energy and that you are never tired before doing something. This will be achieved by avoiding too much alcohol and having enough sleep. Your mind will only work effectively when it is full of energy and the body is active.

Human beings are made in such a way that they always make judgments based on the best alternatives and rewards. If you know that you will get a certain reward by the end of the task, then you will all the energy to concentrate on that particular task. Never work hard for nothing because you will slowly become discouraged in future. Set aside some reward for your achieved targets.

Motivation goes hand in hand with positive thinking. To some extent, it is even difficult to separate the two concepts. This is because positive thinking itself is personal motivation in essence. Being optimistic with your life is very important. You always see the bright side and not the dark side, you see a cup that is half full and not a half empty cup! This is positive thinking. Our minds operate from these hidden programs that execute tasks that eventually become visible through our behaviors and achievements.

Positive thinking and optimism makes you to live a healthier life full of the following benefits:

a) Positive thinking enables us to manage your stress and depression

Thinking positively not only gives you hope to move on. It also enables you to look for alternative means of survival when one way becomes hard. For instance, in case of any disappointment like losing a job, positive thinkers do not lament and languish in stress and depression. Instead, they are always active in devising alternative ways to cope with these situations. Contrary, pessimists lose hope easily and think that they cannot do anything to navigate worst situations.

b) Positive thinking can greatly boost your immunity

If you don’t know, your mind and your body are very well linked. Therefore any mishap in the state of the mind has direct impacts on your body. One area where this effect can be powerfully felt is in your body immunity. Researchers have found out that having negative emotions can result to weak immunity. It is therefore more beneficial to be positive when facing any situation in life rather than having a negative approach to any situation.

c) Positive thinking has got more health benefits

Your health is your number one wealth in your life. Defend it with all you what you have. One way of keeping yourself health is through positive thinking. You relieve more stress and depression in your body and as a result, you also reduce the chances of having cardiovascular related problems and increase your lifespan.

d) Positive thinking makes you to be more resilient

Resilient people are able to cope with any problem easily. They confidently face problems or any emerging crisis with a lot of strength. Instead of being subdued, they gather courage and carry on to eventually overcome the problem. Therefore when having any challenges, look at it confidently and face it positively. Do not lose hope. Be willing to seek advice and other form of assistance from your friends or any other close people. This is the power of positive thinking as a personal development tool.

As noted above, positive thinking plays a very fundamental and crucial role in motivating individuals. In most cases, positive thinking entails attaching meaning to our strongest believes about us. It is a matter of believing and hoping for the best and then waiting to see the best happen. We can understand how to further apply this principle of motivation better by understanding what the law of attraction tells us.

Simply put, the law of attraction states that you attract to yourself whatever you give focus and attention to; whether you want it or not. It means that you become who you think. Now suppose you keep thinking about being poor, less intelligent or lonely? Of course you become poor, less intelligent and lonely! This is the law of attraction and it applies to you directly as well as every other person on earth! How best can we apply the law of attraction to motivate ourselves and enhance our personal development? This is how to go:
i. Attract the purpose of your life by doing what you admire
Every one of us admires certain quality of life. We all have our perfect dream lives. Having a very clear intention of what you want to be is the first step towards achieving the purpose of your life. Identify your objective i.e. something that you really dream of. Then start focusing on your goal in life and work for it with all your heart and soul. Having a vivid picture of your goal will greatly contribute to your success. ii. Do daily affirmations
Have ever discovered that most of your achievements in your life are exact results of what you previously asked for? Well, you may not figure it out clearly for now but that is the reality
In most cases we are like I am going fail in this interview, or rather this project is too big for me…in the end you just live into the words you created yourself. Daily affirmations are very powerful in shaping who and what we become next. It is therefore good to be positive about we say about ourselves because we will always attract what we think. iii. Understand how to use the value of guided meditations
Probably you ever had an experience at some point in life where you were driving along a highway and all of a sudden you start day dreaming. After spending about ten minutes in your dreams you realize that you have just gone past many things in the road that you don’t even remember. Similarly, you may be washing dishes and then you suddenly realize that you have finally discovered the solution to a long time problem. This is a very positive state of mind that is free from guilt. iv. Put your ideas into action
No matter how good an idea can be is nothing without any action accompanying it. Daily affirmations results to powerful ideas which will only be relevant if you act and implement them to improve yourself. You always begin to focus on something once you it into your consciousness. This focusing then results to a long chain of ideas flowing into your mind. At this stage, you will vet the ideas and discern which amongst them needs action. Do not waste time but act as soon as you find a meaningful idea.
v. Show gratitude so as to achieve more
Being grateful is very significant as far as the law of attraction is concerned. It tells you that you are willing and ready to receive more of the things you show gratitude for. It doesn’t matter whether you are grateful for small things or big things as long as you are grateful on what you get. Learn to appreciate people in your life. Start training yourself by being grateful for small things like a good meal from your wife or even a beautiful dress before you train yourself into appreciating great opportunities in your life. This is very significant since you will always attract more of what you appreciate in life.

Human beings are never complete. There is no ceiling to achieving better than what you have already achieved. The problem is that you will always be attracted by the comfort zone developed at some level. You end up thinking that you have achieved the best for yourself while others are way far ahead of you! People lack motivation to climb high up the ladder because they don’t trust their thoughts. You may think it is better to stay at the same point which is comfortable rather than risk going up only to lose everything. Just like the law of attraction asserts, you end up stagnating at a particular level in your life.

There is hope. There is a way to beat this fear in you. You have not tried to motivate yourself. You don’t want to discover the power in you because you have become a pessimist! Try positive thinking. Believe that you are capable of doing more than what you have done and you will be surprised to see how your life will change significantly!

Motivation is really important to you because it is the energy that drives you in life. Being motivated implies that your self confidence has improved and that you have enhanced your self-discipline and hence you reward yourself for achieving your goals. You are then challenged to stretch further and go for the goals that you initially thought they were beyond your limits. Therefore motivation ensures that your life always improves with time.

In as much as motivation is very important to the personal development of most individuals, it will only benefit those people who have a willing heart. It is easy to be motivated and improve your life but on the same note, the task of putting ideas into action solely lies with an individual person. However, it is always good if you can try to adopt a positive thinking perspective when you are faced with challenges. this will also improve on your personality.

The purpose of this project was also to find out the usage of engagement based approaches in the classroom. The survey results in this project indicate that teachers do use these approaches in the classroom but not frequently enough.
