Tidbits-Do You Know 2 - Quotes From Puraan

Back

In Sat Yug, Tretaa Yug and Dwaapar Yug, country, village and family are also the partners of sins and Punya done by an individual; but in Kali Yug, only the doer has to enjoy and suffer for his Punya and sins. [2Padm Puraan, p 770] The secret of Bhaagvat Dharm is known only to 12 people - Brahmaa Jee, Devarshi Naarad, Bhagavaan Shankar, Sanat Kumaar, Kapil Dev, Swaayambhuv Manu, Prahlaad, Janak Jee, Bheeshm Pitaamaha, Raajaa Bali, Shukdev Jee, and I (Dharm Raaj). [5Bhaagvat, 6/1] Whosoever does not win Kaam (lust and desires), Krodh (anger), Lobh (greed), Moh (intense love), Mad (pride) and Matsar (intense pride) - these six enemies, he has to do many Karm in spite of his unwillingness to do any Karm." [5Bhaagvat 6/1] Adharm is of five types - Vi-Dharm, Par-Dharm, Aabhaas, Upmaa, and Chhal. Whatever action is done with Dharm and wisdom, but still hinders his own Dharm is called Vi-Dharm. When somebody else tells the Dharm to somebody else is called Par-Dharm. Paakhand is called Updharm or Upmaa. Misinterpretation of Shaastra is called Chhal (deception). When a human being accepts an action of another Aashram with his own will that is called "Aabhaag". Thus everybody should do his actions according to his own Varn and Aashram and nature. [5Bhaagvat 7/8] Upanishad say - "This body is like a chariot, Indriyaan are horses, Man (mind) is rein, all pleasures are paths, wisdom is the driver, 10 Praan are Dhuree (axle), Dharm and A-Dharm are two wheels of the chariot, and Jeev is the rider. Omkaar is the bow of the rider, Jeev is arrow, and Paramaatmaa is the aim. So control this chariot, take the Gyaan sword from Guru and destroy all your enemies, and leave this body to join Paramaatmaa." [5Bhaagvat, 7/8] There are three types of A-Dwait - Bhaav-Dwait, Kriyaa-Dwait, and Dravyaa-Dwait. As the cloth is a form of thread, in the same way action is also cause. Thinking unity in all is called Bhaav-Dwait. All Karm, done by mind, speech and body, are done in

Paramaatmaa only, thinking thus is called Kriyaa-Dwait. All people's aims and pleasures are the same, so not discriminating between own and others, is called Dravyaa-Dwait. {5Bhaagvat, 7/8] [Yayaati to Devayaanee] Dear, all kinds of materials, grains, gold, animals, women cannot satisfy a man who has limitless desires. Enjoyment of pleasures does not satisfy desires. [5Bhaagvat, 9/11] [Sanak Jee says to Naarad Jee in reference to Ekaadashee Vrat] There is no Teerth like Gangaa, there is no Guru like mother, there is no Devtaa like Vishnu, and there is no greater Tap than fasting. There is no mother like Forgiveness, there is no wealth like fame, there is no benefit like knowledge, there is no father like Dharm, there is no friend like Vivek and there is no Vrat like Ekaadashee. [6Naarad Puraan, 1/10] [Yam Raaj says to incoming people in his kingdom] Among all Bhoot (creation) living beings are better. Among living beings those are better who live with Buddhi (mind) - animals and birds; and among them also human beings are higher. Among human beings, Braahman are higher; among Braahman learned are higher; and among learned stable minded people are higher. Even among stable minded people, who do their duty, they are higher; and among those also Brahmvaadee (who read Ved) are higher. Among Brahmvaadee those are higher who are not attached and among those they are higher who always meditate upon Bhagavaan. [6Naarad Puraan, 1/12] Naarad Jee asked - "You told me that who donated land etc they enjoy the fruit of that donation till thousands of Kalp. And then you told me that in Praakrit Pralaya the whole Universe gets destroyed, so tell me that do the Punya and Paap of Jeev not finish by Pralaya time?" Sanak Jee said - "It is only Hari who creates the world in the form of Brahmaa, maintain it in the form of Vishnu and destroys it in the form of Shiv. When Pralaya is over, Hari takes the form of Brahmaa and create the world as before. Whoever was wherever in the former Kalp, he is created there itself in the new Kalp, so a Jeev has to bear the fruits of his Punya and Paap. After Pralaya, whatever fruits of his Karm remain, he bears it in the next Kalp. No Karm is destroyed even in millions of Kalp without bearing its fruit. Thus one has to bear the fruit of his good or bad Karm." [6Naarad Puraan, 1/12] Sanak Jee said - "Aatmaa (soul) is of two types Par Aatmaa and A-Par Aatmaa. Par Aatmaa is Param Brahm and is Nir-Gun; and A-Par Aatmaa or A-Par Brahm is said to be "with Ahankaar" - Jeev Aatmaa. To know them as one is called "Gyaan Yog". [6Naarad Puraan, 1/13]

Sanak Jee told Naarad Jee a story of hunter, in which the hunter wanted to kill a priest of a temple, he said to hunter - "Whatever is to happen, will happen; and whatever is not to happen, will never happen" who thinks in this way, they never worry about anything." [6Naarad Puraan, 1/14] There are 8 Aatm Gun - (1) Dayaa, (2) Kshamaa, (3) Ansooyaa, (44) Anaayaas, (5) Maangalya, (6) Akaarpanya, (7) A-Sprahaa, and (8) Shauch. Who has these Gun or characteristics, he goes to Swarg. [8Agni, 17] One should be silent at the time of - (1) going on the road, (2) doing sex, (3) excreting, (4) brushing teeth, (5) taking bath, and 6) eating food. [8Agni, 17] One should leave the following 7 things - (1) re-donating the thing one has already donated, (2) Prithakpaak, (3) drinking water with Ghee, (4) drinking water with milk, (5) drinking water in the night, (6) biting nails, and (7) drinking very hot water. [8Agni, 17] One should not pluck flowers for worshipping after taking bath, because these flowers are not good to offer Bhagavaan. If one performs the last rites of anybody who is not of his family, he should complete 10 days of A-Shauch and other rites also. [8Agni, 17] If water, or straw, or ash, or door or path are in between, then there is no Pankti Dosh. [8Agni, 17] A Braahman is never attached to sin by doing Ved prescribed Karm, and a woman is never attached to sin by coming into contact with a Vyabhichaaree (men who go to many women or a womanizer) man. If a woman has been raped, or is spoiled by falling in the hands of an enemy, she should be abandoned till her next menstrual period. A woman is clean after her menstrual period. [8Agni, 17] When Soorya sees a Braahman taking Sanyaas, he is shaken thinking that this Braahman will pierce my Mandal (region) and will attain Par-Brahm. Fasting, Vrat, Snaan, Teerth and tap - all give fruit, but they are completed bby a Braahman and give fruits to people. [8Agni, 17] "Pranav" (Aum) is Par-Brahm Param-Aatmaa; Praanaayaam is the only Tap; and there is no Mantra greater than Saavitree (Gaayatree) Mantra.

[8Agni, 17] Before Som, Gandharv and Agni - these three Devtaa used to enjoy women. Later human beings started enjoying them. So women do not get attached to sin by this. If any other Varn man impregnates a woman, the woman is A-Shauch (unclean) till she sees her first menstruation after the delivery of the child. [8Agni, 17]

Our all senses (Indriyaan) are never satiated from enjoying their subjects and mind (the 11th sense) asks for more and more. It has three taste buds - greed, attachment and the ego. One should be aware of it and away from them. Two Shankh (conch shell), two Chakrashilaa (Gomatee Chakra), two Shiv Ling, two Ganesh idols, two Soorya idols, three Durgaa idols should not be worshipped in one house. This harms the family.

A Discourse on Induction Motors

...A Review of Induction Motors Pattinson Hayton
 California State University, Long Beach
 College of Engineering
12/03/2015 Thus far in Energy Conversion and Principles, the topics of direct current, or DC, and synchronous motors have been covered and discussed. A direct current exists in the field windings of both of these motors and an alternating current, or AC, exists in the armature windings of both of these motors. Electrical power is delivered right to the armature of a DC motor using a commutator, or the moving part of the rotary, in these motors. Because of this, a DC motor with this type of connection can also be referred to as a conduction motor. Conversely, if a motor receives power by induction, rather than by conduction, the motor is called an induction motor. An induction motor is therefore a type of transformer that possesses a rotary secondary winding. As discussed previously, both DC and synchronous motors are doubly-fed. An induction motor, however, is a singly-fed motor. With these motors being singly-fed, the construction of is different than that of other motors. These motors do not require slip-rings, a commutator, or brushes. With these components absent from induction motors, it is thus seen that there are no moving contacts between the stator and rotors, which is obviously quite different than the structure of DC and synchronous motors. Induction motors are useful due to their efficiency. The absence of brushes in induction motors eliminates...

Math Exam

...Mathematical induction is a method of mathematical proof typically used to establish that a given statement is true for all natural numbers (positive integers). It is done by proving that the first statement in the infinite sequence of statements is true, and then proving that if any one statement in the infinite sequence of statements is true, then so is the next one. The method can be extended to prove statements about more general well-founded structures, such as trees; this generalization, known as structural induction, is used in mathematical logic and computer science. Mathematical induction in this extended sense is closely related to recursion. Mathematical induction should not be misconstrued as a form of inductive reasoning, which is considered non-rigorous in mathematics (see Problem of induction for more information). In fact, mathematical induction is a form of rigorous deductive reasoning.[1] Contents [hide] 1 History 2 Description 3 Axiom of induction 4 Example 5 Variants 5.1 Starting at some other number 5.2 Building on n = 2 5.2.1 Example: product rule for the derivative 5.2.2 Example: Pólya's proof that there is no "horse of a different color" 5.3 Induction on more than one counter 5.4 Infinite descent 6 Complete induction 6.1 Transfinite induction 7 Proof of mathematical induction 8 See also 9 Notes 10 References [edit]History In 370 BC, Plato's Parmenides may have contained an early example of an implicit inductive proof.[2]...

Development of Three Way Input Source Induction Cooker with Solar Based Charger

...CHAPTER I The Problem and Its Setting Introduction Cookers can broadly be divided into two types, namely gas cookers and electric cookers. Electric cookers can also however also be sub-divided into three types, namely radiant coil cookers, solid disc cookers and ceramic top cookers. Gas cookers power is easy to adjust and response is instant, thus providing good temperature control. Consumption of gas varies depending on the size of the burners. This type of cooker is the least efficient of all the cookers. The main advantage of a gas cooker is that gas is relatively inexpensive. The main disadvantage is that these types of cookers are the least safe out of all the cookers. Radiant coil cookers are the most common of all the cookers. They are also the cheapest cookers to purchase initially. These types of cookers are heated by electrical resistance. These cookers are more efficient than solid disc cookers and ceramic top cookers. Solid disc cookers are similar to radiant coil cookers. They are just solid and fixed to the cooker. They do not need to be removed for cleaning. These elements have a greater thermal mass than radiant coil elements and are thus less efficient and have a slower response time. Ceramic top cookers have their elements below heat resistant ceramic glass. This improves appearance and improves cleaning. These types of cookers take longer to heat up than radiant coil and solid disc cookers. Their response is also slower than the above-mentioned......

Estimating Vehicle Speed from Traffic Count and Occupancy Data

...Journal of Data Science 2(2004), 231-244 Estimating Vehicle Speed from Traffic Count and Occupancy Data Martin L. Hazelton University of Western Australia Abstract: Automatic vehicle detectors are now common on road systems across the world. Many of these detectors are based on single inductive loops, from which data on traffic volumes (i.e. vehicle counts) and occupancy (i.e. proportion of time during which the loop is occupied) are available for 20 or 30 second observational periods. However, for the purposes of traffic management it is frequently useful to have data on (mean) vehicle speeds, but this is not directly available from single loop detectors. While detector occupancy is related in a simple fashion to vehicle speed and length, the latter variable is not measured on the vehicles that pass. In this paper a new method for speed estimation from traffic count and occupancy data is proposed. By assuming a simple random walk model for successive vehicle speeds an MCMC approach to speed estimation can be applied, in which missing vehicle lengths are sampled from an exogenous data set. Unlike earlier estimation methods, measurement error in occupancy data is explicitly modelled. The proposed methodology is applied to traffic flow data from Interstate 5 near Seattle, during a weekday morning. The efficacy of the estimation scheme is examined by comparing the estimates with independently collected vehicle speed data. The results are encouraging. Key words: Bayesian inference,......

Induction vs Mentoring

...Induction and mentoring programs are a structured form of support for beginning educators. The two programs are linked together and complement each other for the security of lowering the attrition rate in beginning teachers. These two programs are offered to new teachers for a combination of support, new development and opportunities. Mentoring and induction programs are very similar, but their differences set them apart and each one can offer knowledge and experience for every new teacher. More and more school systems are creating quality induction and mentoring programs for new teachers with great success and this process is invaluable. Across the country the need for more quality teachers has been recognized and the support from successful induction and mentoring programs can make that need a reality. The New Teacher Center reports working with “teachers, administrators, universities, and other educational organizations to build induction and mentoring programs not only designed to support new teachers, but to have a lasting impact on classroom practices and the school communities.”(NTC, 2009) For an induction and mentoring program to have longevity, strategy and constant feedback are two vital components. When an induction and mentoring program are successful, teachers can easily integrate into the culture of the school full of confidence to respond to their own induction and mentoring plans. How does a mentoring program differ from an induction program? The......

Induction Magnet Through a Coil Lab

...Induction – Magnet through a Coil Activity P30 Purpose: Electromotive forces can be induced in a coil by changing the magnitude of the magnetic field within the coil, changing the area of the coil, or changing the angle between the magnetic field and the area of the coil. This lab used the first method of changing the magnitude of the magnetic field by dropping a magnet through a coil in order to induce an electromotive force. The EMF was measured as the magnet fell. The integral of EMF versus time gives the magnetic flux according to Faraday’s Law of induction. Faraday’s law of induction essential states that EMF is equal to the rate of change of magnetic flux. Some aspects of Lenz’s law were also investigated. Lenz’s law states that the direction of the current in a coil moves in the direction that causes a magnetic field that opposes the change in the magnetic field of the magnet. Procedure and Materials: The computer was set up by connecting the Voltage Sensor and the interface. A new activity was opened in Data Studio with a graph of Voltage versus Time. Automatic recording was set to begin recording once 0.05 volts was reached and stop at 0.4 seconds of elapsed time. The alligator clips were connected to the circuit board springs next to the induction coil. Data was recorded for three variations of the experiment. First, a single bar magnet was dropped through the coil starting with the south end approximately 2 cm above the coil. Then two magnets were dropped......

Faradays Law

...LivePhoto Physics Activity 32 Name: Date: Exploring Faraday’s Law In 1820 Hans Christian Oersted observed that electric currents create magnetic fields. Consequently many scientists made unsuccessful attempts to create current in the presence of magnetic fields. After over 10 years of investigation Michael Faraday and Joseph Henry, working independently on different sides of the Atlantic, made the discovery that if a conducting coil has a changing magnetic flux passing through it an electromotive force is created that causes a current to flow through the coil. The equation describing this phenomenon quantitatively is known as Faraday’s Law. a b c In this activity you will be asked to use Faraday’s Law to explain why the current induced in a coil and thus the voltage across it changes the way it does when the north or south pole of rod shaped magnet is moved into and then back out of the center of a coil of wire at various speeds. No calculations are required in this activity, just thinking! Figure 1: The north pole of a cylindrical magnet is: (a) moving into the center of a coil of wire; (b) reversing direction; and then (c) moving out of the coil. The coil’s voltage vs. time is recorded with a computer interfaced voltage probe. Theoretical Review: According to Faraday’s Law, at any moment the induced emf (denoted ) across a conducting loop with N turns is equal to –N times the rate of change of the magnetic flux passing through the area......

...Induced Currents Introduction: In this lab we will reverse the situation. That is we will create an electric field from a changing magnetic field. We will be able to detect this electric field by measuring the induced EMF. Equipment Required: • Windows PC • LabPro • Logger Pro • Voltage Probe • Spool of wire • Bar Magnet • Plastic pipe Theory: Faraday’s law of Induction for the induced emf can be written as: emf = −N ΔΦB Δt Where N is the number of turns of a wire loop, which is multiplied by the time rate of change of the magnetic flux. In this experiment, you will make a changing magnetic field by dropping a magnet through a coil of wire. The motion of the magnet will provide the changing magnetic field, which will induce an emf and hence a current in a coil of wire. You will detect that emf with the voltage probe. Setup: 1 2 3 Connect the power cord to the LabPro and connect it to a computer using the USB cable. Be sure to press the ends in firmly. Connect the voltage probe to the LabPro CH1 port. About 40 cm from the end of the plastic pipe wrap at approximately 3 m of wire around the tube, keeping the coils to a narrow band no more than 2 cm across. Be sure to count the number of coils. Use a piece of tape to hold them in place. Leave about 5 cm of wire from each end free. 4 Remove approximately 2 cm of insulation from the ends of the wires, and connect them to the clip leads of the voltage probe. 5 Hold the tube vertically so that you can drop...
