INTRODUCTION
This designation presents a universal picture of induction motors and their function in AC drive systems. Induction motors, specially those of the squirrel-cage type, are the most usual sources of mechanical force in the diligence. The main purpose that we use induction motors are they have a high power/weight ratio compared to DC motors and supplied from a three-phase AC line, induction motors are simple, full-bodied, and inexpensive, in contrast the main disadvantage is most motors operate with a fixed frequency resulting in an almost constant speed, adjustable-speed drives are increasingly introduced into a diversity of applications. Windings that are wound on the stator are known as stator windings. The stator core is laminated to reduce the eddy current loss. The minimum hysteresis loss is achieved by selecting material with small hysteresis loop. Rotor: This is part of the machine which is rotating. Windings in the rotor are known as rotor windings Armature: this the place where the conversion (electrical /mechanical) takes place. In case of synchronous generator this takes place in the stator windings. The stator windings can also be called as armature windings (only for the synchronous generators).

The main operation of the motor is based on the Faraday’s law which implies that the supply is given to the stator windings and due to this current a magnetic field will be induced in the stator windings and this rotating field will induce a torque on the rotor and according to the Faraday’s law a current will be induced in the rotor and according to the Lenz law, this current opposes the induced magnetic field. Electromagnetic induction is the key for the working of the induction motor, since the stator and rotor is isolated from each other, sparking will not occur.

DC test
DC voltage is applied to the stator windings and since the current is dc there will be no induced voltage in the rotor and due to that there will be no induced current, furthermore, the motor reactance is also be zero at direct current, therefore, the only resistance that limits the current is the stator resistance and this resistance can be easily determined.
To perform the test, the current of the stator can be adjusted to the rated value and the voltages can be measured and with these the input power at no load and the stator copper loss can be computed and the rotational loss can be computed using the input power and the stator copper losses. The circuit of the DC test is shown below.

Minimizing the Errors
To minimize the result errors the readings can be taken several times and the average value can be taken to compute the final calculations, therefore, this will ensure that the errors that persist within the measuring equipment and handling errors will be neglected the values will be more
