Adults with obesity can suffer from chronic conditions that are a result of their disease including, heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes, and stroke. Those conditions are some of the leading causes of preventable deaths (CDC 2017.) Obesity is higher among middle age adults age 40-59 years (40.2%) and older adults age 60 and over (37.0%) than among younger adults age 20–39 (32.3%) (CDC, 2017.) Surprisingly, I found that the CDC believes that financial status can also show trends in obesity. They stated that, non-Hispanic black men and Mexican-American men who have a higher financial status are more likely to be obese opposed to lower-income men. Whereas, women with a higher financial status are less likely to be obese opposed to lower income women.
