Inanimate Object Process Essay
The Essay The darkness is overwhelming. I have been standing upright in this box for far too long, only being held up by others that have been pushed into me. I can feel myself drying up, becoming unusable. Then suddenly, my gloomy home begins to shake, and a bright light appears from above me.
Some of my counterparts fall to the side in fear of the light and the large hand approaching, but I stand tall. I am suddenly suffocated by the grasp around me, as I am lifted into the air and quickly placed on the hard surface. I soon realize that I have finally been chosen for the task. It is my time. My thoughts are racing as I wonder what my task will be, how long it will take, and how much energy I will have to put forth. I am prepared for a tough battle against the surface I will soon cover, in hopes that at the end, I will have created something special. Just then I am lifted into the air again. As my top is removed, the open air engulfs me, preparing me for the work ahead, when suddenly I am brought back toward the hard surface, only to be rattled against it over and over again. I soon realize as I am being slammed off my owner's desk that the worst has happened- he has had a brain block. Before I can even prepare myself for what is about to happen, I am swung into the air, whipped in a circle, and brought towards his mouth. I have been here before. Scars and painful memories have been left on me from previous encounters. Before I can take one final breath, I am thrust into his mouth as his teeth take over my whole being, chomping and cutting my sides, until I can no longer take the pain. Suddenly my sides burst open and, like wild fire, my energy rushes out of me. My owner takes me out of his mouth abruptly and throws me to the ground in a rage as he storms out of the room. I lay on the floor in pain, my fuel slowly leaking from my core, hurt, but not defeated. As I hear him enter the room again, I try with all my might to hold in what I have left. Unexpectedly, he scoops me up into his grasp and places me on the desk. As I contemplate my demise, the waste basket in my view, the man suddenly picks me up and holds me in my work position. It is now that I realize I have been given a second chance. I can finish the task that I have been chosen for. I am soon placed on the thin lined sheet and begin to move across the surface. Although I am depleted, I continue to work hard, as every drop I produce makes a smooth line and figure. My drops turn into long streaks as I continue to work page after page. Although I am tired, the feeling of the pressure against the surface and the view of the perfect characters behind me that I have made keep me going. My fuel rushes out of me like never before; my confidence at its peak; my focus on the task at hand. As I get to the bottom of, from what I can tell, the fourth surface, I feel myself running out of fuel and energy. I am ready to quit, but instead keep pushing on, using every last drop of my very being until, finally, I am placed down on the desk next to my masterpiece. I am weary and depleted, but my spirit is strong. I have completed my task. As my owner lifts my masterpiece and looks it over, an overwhelming feeling of joy takes control of me. I will not get the recognition, but I am prideful of what I have done, and, without me, the man would have never been able to turn the thin surface into a beautiful piece of work. My top is placed back on me, and I am soon returned to my quarters with the others waiting for their task. They surround me, with only vague imaginations of what I may have gone through. The box is closed, and darkness once again overtakes me. I am unaware of my future. I do not know if I will ever be chosen again, if I will have enough fuel to make it through the task, or if that light will ever peer through the darkness of the box. What I do know is that I completed my task in the face of adversity when many of my kind would have given up. Instead of the waste basket, I am back in my home, waiting for another opportunity to cover a canvas.

The E-R model can provide ACME Global with a specific, but open-ended design that is tailored to the company’s needs. This also allows us to sketch the design of a database informally and incorporate changes in order to avoid problems later on. The E-R model allows for growth beyond its ideas at inception. It lays the groundwork for later database relational designs. 3. List and describe essential components of the model such as entities, attributes, keys, relationships, roles, and dependencies specific to ACME Global Consulting. Entity: real-world object or thing with an independent existence and which is distinguishable from other objects. Examples are a person, car, customer, product, gene, book etc. Attributes: an entity is represented by a set of attributes (its descriptive properties), e.g., name, age, salary, price etc. Attribute values that describe each entity become a major part of the data eventually stored in a database. Jensen Shoe Case

...Case Study 1- Jenson Shoes The story begins with an African-American man named Lyndon Brooks, an employee at Jensen Shoes. Recent trends have identified a shortcoming in the company’s casual wear department. Brooks is therefore reassigned under the leadership of Jane Kravitz, much to his dismay. Several strategic objectives are formed to handle this shortcoming. Of these, two of the strategic objectives were assigned to Brooks, the Latino and African American markets. He was given a four month period to complete both objectives. According to a report pertaining to Brooks’ thoughts and impressions, he felt as if both the time allotted and the quality of manpower assigned to these two tasks were unreasonably lacking. Therefore the completion of both strategic objectives within the given timeframe to Brooks was infeasible. After several heated discussions between Brooks and Kravitz, Jane agreed to reassign the African-American strategic objective leaving only the Latino vertical markets to Brooks. Identifying the problem: Brooks vs. Jensen Shoes An important aspect to remember is that this case may contain a slight bias due to the fact that it is represented through merely Brooks’ perspective. Lyndon Brooks, a well educated Sociology graduate, is assigned to work under Jane Kravitz, manager of casual wear at Jenson Shoes. We see from analyzing the given report that Brooks had expressed disdain from the beginning. Initially assigned as a “Product Promotions Manager,” Brooks had...
