Dear friend,
You are asking some very good questions. I often wondered the same before I learned about this subject. I would be glad to answer your questions and tell you what they all mean. First, you ask ‘How to assess the value of the information you find on the internet’? Well, there are many ways to assess the information you find on the internet. The first of many ways that I use to assess this information is to check the author information, meaning is the author trustworthy. To do this I often will see if the author has background in the subject that I am researching. I think that by doing this the information written by those who do not have any experience in the subject will not be on my radar. This also allows you to determine whether or not an author is authentic. Another important thing to check to see if information is reliable is to check the date, checking the date will help you determine if the information is up-to-date and if it has been updated recently. I think that by making sure the information is not outdated will help the credibility of this information. thing to check to see if information is reliable is to check the date, checking the date will help you determine if the information is up-to-date and if it has been updated recently. I think that by making sure the information is not outdated will help the credibility of this information. Another thing you would need to check is the website dependable. When I say ‘dependable’ I mean is the website easily edited by others who do not have any experience in the field? Has this information edited recently, and by whom? When using the internet you must be cautious of the information you read because some information could be false.
You also ask about the ‘digital divide’ and what it means. The best way I can describe it is the divide between people who are up to date with all of the

You are right when you assume that the Internet makes my life much easier when I need to find information on anything. Although the Internet is a vast resource of information but not all of the information available is correct. Whatever I do Internet search I asked myself specific questions about the information that I find. I asked myself these questions to assess and evaluate the value of the information I found during a search. For example I would check the domain of the website and its affiliations. I would also ask myself if I notice any bias on the website this happens often because people will put misinformation out there in order to sell or promote their business and or interest. Also I check multiple sources in order to ensure that the information that I just found. By checking multiple sources you can compare the information that you find in order to ensure that the information is reliable and credible. ...Hello Pen Pal! Hope you are doing well. Yes, the Internet can be quite fascinating with the amount of information that is available with the click of a button on your computer. Being able to read and learn about various topics without having to go to a library and do research is very convenient. One can learn just about anything or find just about anything with an internet search. From purchasing furniture, to scheduling appointments, to reading news articles and ordering take-out food, the internet is a marvelous tool to use! To answer your question of “How do you assess the value of all this information you find on the Internet,” often times can be challenging. Because the internet has so much information for many resources from around the world, it is crucial to develop skills to accurately access the information you are reviewing. When you use sources at a library, each one has been reviewed and evaluated to ensure the material presented is authentic and not fabricated. When one uses the internet, none of these screens are applicable. In essence there are no buffers with the information available and anyone can post regardless of its truth or not. The main way to ensure the information one is reviewing is credible is to use the following steps: • Authorship • Publisher • Bias • Accuracy of details With verifying Authorship, one should be researching the person who wrote the article especially if it is an author that the reader does not recognize...

A Review of the Issues Surrounding Internet Censorship and Cross-National Information Conflict

...government censorship over internet, which is turning into a national dilemma as well as the cross-national conflict which affect the global businesses. Nowadays, internet censorship is widely accepted standard regulation that controls any information available on the internet and by using filtering tools to prevent people from accessing materials that are considered to be inappropriate. While government support the use of internet censorship as a protection of public security and defines the ‘inappropriate material’ to determine what people can view on the internet, others argue that it is simply a tool to take away people from their own right to express freedom of speech and make people blindly accept what they can access on the internet. The paper also addresses the growing problem of cross-national conflict by giving the practice of multinational company Google and addressing the issues of the value system between Chinese and US government. The paper concludes that as the rapid growth of internet technology and international businesses, it has become more difficult to achieve both control of information and the benefits of technology, and there is a need for balance between these two factors.  Table of Contents Abstract I Table of Contents II 1. Compare and Contast Libraries and the Internet as the Two Major Source of Information for Use in Accademic Return Work

...In this modern world, abundance in information through the internet is taking over the role of tradition libraries. However, when it comes to academic research, libraries still holds its importance. Many thousands of web pages exist, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet instead of a traditional library. Many of these are personal opinions, with the authors ranging from commercial sites to professional organizations. This essay aims to compare and contrast these two major sources of information for use by students in academic written work from the perspective of sources and reliability of information A library has a very systematic way in which information is catalogued to enable searchers to locate the desired information. From the individual perspective, more information related to the academic is obtained especially for students as well as it is the key source of information including books, journals, and archival materials such as document collections. From the practical perspective, library contained more precise information and the most reliable source. Libraries are considered appropriate and even necessary sources of information for college-level work and research. It is also best for credible information quickly and for full-text, scholarly articles. Internet and Information Paper

...Dear friend, The internet is a very useful and big world. A person can do pretty much anything they want on the internet and it is just at the tip of their fingers. A person can watch television and movies via the World Wide Web. A person can shop for clothing, jewelry, food, books, and music from the comfort of their own home. Students even have the ability to go to class through the internet and read the books that are needed. Those students, along with any student with internet access, can conduct research for any given reason and expand the horizon of their knowledge. People can obtain information that used to be available only through books, which were only available from libraries. People can even communicate with others that live next door or around the world in an instant, which was not an option for them before the internet. The internet is a very fascinating world of its own. There is a large amount of information available and many things that one can do on the internet. Deciphering what is fact and what is the opinion of someone else is a very tricky thing when the information is obtained from the internet. When conducting research, a person should look at the author of the information. If the writer has no history writing anything, there is a very good chance that it is not reliable. One should also stay clear of blogs and social media sites when getting information, as these are generally the opinion of those writing it. There are also websites that can be altered...

Problem Solving and Information on the Internet

...Assignment #1 Part 1 URL: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/827793-tiger-woods-will-he-ever-win-a-major-championship-again What is the Issue? The issue in the article “Tiger Woods: Will He Ever Win a Major Championship Again?” is “Will Tiger Woods ever return to old form and win another major championship” I have determined that this is the issue in the article because the author is pondering whether or not Tiger will ever be the same golfer that he once was, and finally win that elusive 15th major championship. What is the Conclusion? The conclusion in the article is when the author states, “ the answer is, simply, yes.” This is the conclusion that the author makes about the issue on hands, and he is stating that will definitely happen that Tiger Woods will regain form, and win another major championship before he retires as a professional golfer. What are the reasons? If you look into the article for reasons why the author believes his conclusion, there are many possible options to choose from. I will focus on two main ones that appear evident to me. The first reason is when the author states that the oldest major champion was 48 years of age. He goes on to say that Tiger has 13 more years of golf before he reaches that age, which means he will play in 52 more major championships. The author then states that he would only need to have a winning percentage of 1.9% in those tournaments to capture that 15th title. The next reason that the author states, is that...

ABC dropped its run in 2004. The CW was the last man standing, so to speak. * Saturday morning cartoons were killed by a combination of cable, streaming, and the FCC. * The FCC mandated that broadcast networks provide a minimum of 3hrs of “educational” programming every week. * With the addition of many new cable and satellite channels that don’t have to abide by FCC regulations, kids can get their cartoon fix any hour of the day. * Top it all off with streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. and you’ve got a truly spoiled generation.
