Genesys Works

...In 2002, Rafael Alvarez founded Genesys Works to fulfill his vision of improving the futures of low-income high school students while introducing a new stream of diverse workers to corporate America. Realizing a nationwide need for opportunities like Genesys Works, Mr. Alvarez expanded his program to multiple cities in the United States. Genesys Works has successfully placed over 1400 Houston high school students into meaningful internships. The success and potential of this great company depends on many factors. The local business offices has to have a want and a need for future interns. The program only works if there are companies that would like to better the communities that they are in, by partnering up with Genesys Work. That company has to be willing to train and pay compatible wages for the type of work that interns will be performing. Each intern will be working approximately 20 to 25 hours a week. No longer “charity as usual,” Genesys Works interns perform value-added services, breaking the paradigm of the traditional high school internship while providing corporate executives with the opportunity to create a better prepared and more diverse workforce. No longer is this a choice between shareholder return vs. what is good for the community. The Genesys Works model allows companies to do both. School districts has to be willing to allow their curriculum to have flexibility. The programs guarantees that the intern will be working between 20 to 25 hours a week.......

I Dont Know

...My overall impression on my speech was better than I anticipated. I was very nervous and anxious to get the speech over. I could tell that in the pace of my speech. I was rushing through it and at times it was hard for me to keep track of my place on the outline. I thought I gave good eye contact and I stayed on the speech path, but I could have projected my voice more so that it would have been easier to hear and understand what I was saying. I felt that the delivery was good but I could have moved around more and gave more hand gestures to keep my speech alive. Although I didn’t feel it was a boring speech, I feel like I still tell showed how nervous I really was by the body chemistry I gave off. I prepared a lot for the speech and I went over the speech 3 times in front of the camera at home. I think this helped me a great deal because I had full knowledge of what my speech was about. Because I was nervous and rushing through my speech I often lost my place on my outline, but was able to wing it because I had practiced. It helped a lot that I did my speech on a topic that I am very familiar with and used to talking about. I also used the technique in the chapter that tells you that when you are nervous take a deep breath and use a focus word, mine was “Money”. This technique helped me a great deal in the beginning because I actually felt overwhelmed and on the verge of an anxiety attack. Using this technique calmed me down and made me able to deliver my speech. ...

...Goal Inventory Assignment In ten years, I want to be working in the human resources department at Texas Instruments. I specifically want to be an HR Business Generalist because it is more closely tied to the business and business strategy at Texas Instruments than some of the other human resources jobs there are. This position seems like it would be a great fit for me because I am extremely interested in the business strategy of a company and how the people working for the company can directly influence how successful a business is. I want to be in Dallas, Texas at Texas Instruments’ main office where I can get the most enriching experience. However, after I have learned as much as I can at the Dallas office and when I am comfortable with my position, I want to move to the Houston office because Houston is where I grew up and it is where I want to raise a family. In five year, I want to be working in the human resources department at Texas Instruments. I want to start out in their Compensation position within the HR department. My major is in accounting and I like to work with numbers, so I believe the Compensation position would be a good starting point for me. I have also been advised that this position is a great HR position to begin with, especially if you want to work your way to the HR Business Generalist position, because you learn a lot about the company and their financing. ...Week 11 & Week 12 The last two weeks are the busiest weeks to me because since my internship program is near the end, I need to complete all the tasks before leaving. Business Ethics

...Bradshaw Ryan Andrews BA590, Grantham University Key Organizational Behavior Audrey Locke is a summer intern for a very successful North American company of Brussels and Bradshaw Investment Bank. As it seems in most organizations, the new guy, or girl in this case, is often subject to treatment that can be misunderstood as abusive. Those that are in positions within an organization see this as ‘weeding out the week’. From the view point of Audrey and other past interns, it can be seen as unnecessary and disheartening. For those that are intent on making a future in investments, it seems that you are going to have to learn how to adjust. In fact, Blake Cooper, one of the managing partners of the Toronto Office with Audrey is performing her internship at stated “We cannot afford to get soft on our people by listening to analysts whine and complain about each other. Once you start, where does it stop? They’ll figure out how to get along on their own if you let them. These are professionals. We are all here to make money and the only way to make money in this business is to work together. Those that want to get ahead will recognize that – and those are the people we want at Brussels and Bradshaw.” (Hitt, Miller, Colella, 2011) Issues and Recommendations It seems that this situation of being stepped on is not going to change. Since this seems to be a companywide pandemic, it is going to take a ton of pressure from the top and directive to stay on course to change the fact......

Procedure for Writing a Term Paper

...PROCEDURE FOR WRITING A TERM PAPE A term (or research) paper is primarily a record of intelligent reading in several sources on a particular subject. The task of writing such is not as formidable as it seems if it is thought out in advance as a definite procedure with systematic perpetration. The procedure for writing such a report consists of the following steps: 1. Choosing a subject 2. Finding sources of materials 3. Gathering the notes 4. Outlining the paper 5. Writing the first draft 6. Editing the paper Now let's look at each of them. CHOOSING A SUBJECT Most good papers are built around questions. You can find subjects in any textbook. Simply take some part of the text that interest you and examine it carefully. Ask yourself the following things about it to see if you can locate a question to answer in your paper. Does it tell you all you might wish to learn about the subject? Are you sure it is accurate? Does the author make any assumptions that need examining? Can two of the more interesting sections in the text be shown to be interrelated in some useful way? Your paper is an attempt to write a well-organized answer to whatever question you decide upon, using facts for the purpose of proving (or at least supporting) your contention. The most common error made by students in choosing a subject for a term paper is to choose one that is too general. (The most specific subject will always have enough aspects to furnish a long paper, if you......
