Hypothesis
An empirical statement that can be objectively tested and measured is a hypothesis. Improving the superior’s competencies and abilities will improve employee morale, which would be the hypothesis for this research study. To establish a relationship between the variables is the goal of a hypothesis. It defines an event, act, characteristics, trait or attribute that can be valued, measured, and observed. Due to the increased staff turnover, it is hypothesized that the staff morale in the organization may be the reason most employees exit from the organization. The study did find out that the employees were dissatisfied on several issues that appertain to their effectiveness and delivery outcomes.
Analysis
The purpose of the survey is to collect data that can inform the management on the reasons that appertain to staff attrition. Almost ninety percent of the individuals who took part in the survey indicated that the reasons for their exit were poor pay, inhospitable working conditions and many working hours, factors that contributed to low staff morale (Exhibit D). The individuals that responded were only seventeen percent. However, the fact that the larger part of the survey population did not respond is significant (Lind, Marchal, & Wathen, 2011). It is indicative that the surveyed population were in the process of leaving, therefore, the larger percent did not deem it necessary to respond which is indicative of their serious dissatisfaction with the organization. Out of the four hundred and forty-nine individuals who were given the questionnaire, only seventy eight responded, a clear indication that the level of dissatisfaction was very high (Exhibit D).

Philosophy

...Theology Essay 1 What thoughts do I have when I hear the word Theology? Well, my first thought is that it has something to do with the Bible and religion. Second, I believe it will give an insight on different views and interpretations of the Bible, but mostly, I believe it will give me along with many others a better perspective on the Bible. The Bible’s interpretations can be used throughout one’s life as a map of what to do and where to go, especially when you’re at a loss of what to do and where to turn. Theology will give a huge eye opening experience to many that have never read the Bible but believe in God. As the video’s and the book stated, everyone is a theologian. We all have our thoughts in God and what we believe and that’s part of being a theologian but not everyone believes in the same way and we definitely don’t interpret the Bible the same way. Many have stated that this is the time to discuss with friends, cougleges, and family to hear everyone’s point of views and comprise different takes on the discussion along with being open to another way of interpretation. I hope to get a better understanding of the Bible and its interpretations during the next 8 weeks while taking this course. I’m hopeful that it will broaden my thoughts, feelings and understanding of the Bible more. As a young child my mother or grandparents would take us to church and we could sit and listen to the sermons every Sunday. As we, my brothers and I, grew we didn’t attend church as much...

...important and relevant to society. In this speech, the speaker must consider him/herself a “teacher” (an informative speaker sharing information with your audience). A topical organizational pattern is suggested for this speech. OPTION ONE: This option requires you to choose a favorite song. Included in the speech must be: (1) a description of the song (e.g., composer/lyricist, its musicality, a description of the artist); (2) the song’s theme and its relevance to the class and/or society; (3) an oral interpretation of a section from the song; (4) the student's personal reaction to the song (i.e., why you chose it); and (5) an audio or visual portion of the song to be played for the audience as an audio aid to support the verbal message shared. Speakers are required to effectively prepare, organize and deliver a speech advocating WHY this song is important or culturally relevant while successfully employing audio, and perhaps, visual aids and basic oral interpretation techniques. With the Topic Outline, a complete copy of the lyrics to the song must also be...

...internally homogeneous and externally heterogeneous (everything in one category must hold together in some meaningful way and… the differences between categories need to be bold and clear). If there is a lot of data that doesn’t fit into the category system, it usually means that there is a flaw that requires the system to be reorganized. Good qualitative research will have a label for all data, and every attempt should be made so that each segment fits in only one category. Lastly, the classification system should be meaningful and relevant to the study. Once a system created for organizing the data, each category should be assigned a number, and then transcriptions of interviews or survey results can be coded. * Data Presentation and Interpretation After the data is coded, the data is displayed and organized so that it can be interpreted. Often simple matrices or charts are used to compile interview data so that patterns can be determined among respondents. Causal network diagrams and flow charts are also often helpful to assess the cause and effect of...

911 Photo Analysis

... 2. How and when was this photo released? Why? The photo was not released until 5 years after 9/11 in 2006. The main reason because it was a controversial picture of 9/11 because the people photographed were smiling and enjoying their day, with the twin towers in smoke in the background. Almost all pictures that had been released and published were very sad and devastating. 3. How was the photo initially interpreted? In what ways was this interpretation flawed according to Jones? The photo was initially interpreted that Americans failed to learn deep lessons from that tragic day, but rather just went on enjoying their own lives without taking into consideration what else was happening. Jones says this interpretation is flawed because it the emphasize shouldn’t be placed on judging the individuals, but rather the people represent us in our everyday life. Our lives have to keep going on no matter what tragedy strikes. 4. Jones considers and rejects multiple interpretations for the photo before settling on one. This is an example of evolving a thesis. List at least three thesis...

...The Turn of the Screw-The Ghost Chapters 3, 4, and 5 1. Describe everything about the ghost sighting on page 28. Interpret the sighting in several ways (is it real? Is it imagined?), supplying support for your suppositions. How does the sighting reflect upon the characters involved (supply evidence) Use actual quotes from the text and cite them in your analysis. “He did stand there!- but high up , beyond the lawn and at the very top of the tower to which, on that first morning, little flora had conducted me.”(p.27) This shows evidence that it possibly is a ghost by the absurdity that he could be standing on one of the tallest points on the property. This also brings the first supernatural element to the story that can be supported. However she has no concrete evidence that it is a ghost because she is relying on her vision as evidence. “An unknown man in a lonely place is a permitted object of fear to a young woman…”(p.28) This possibly means her mind could be playing tricks on her. She says its normal for woman under her circumstances to fear certain situations such as a “unknown man” and she could be seeing things. 2. Describe everything about the ghost sighting on page 34. Interpreting the Un-Interpretable

...Danny Ambalu 06/04/12 Interpreting the Un-Interpretable In Poulet’s A Phenomenology of Reading, he asserts that in a sense the reader, by reading and thinking about a text, creates the text. When the reader reads a text, his consciousness unites with the consciousness of the author, and their ideas combine and transform the text from a “dead object”, or objective words on a page, into a living, dynamic work. In other words, Poulet gives the reader license to provide his own reasonable interpretation of a text, because the reader is the author’s partner in creating the text. This is especially true with regards to John Ashbery’s “Farm Implements and Rutabagas in a Landscape”, where a straightforward explanation of the poem is almost impossible. Therefore, in accordance with Poulet’s literary theory, I would like to unite my consciousness with Ashbery’s and provide my own interpretation of the poem: the poem is not meant to be understood. Upon reading the poem, the reader is immediately confronted with numerous questions. Who is sending the messages in the first and third stanzas? What do they mean? What is all the scratching about? Why is Swee’pea sad? Why is Popeye shooting green thunderbolts, and what is he laughing about at the end of the poem? These are merely questions about the plot of the poem, but there are also several technical questions. For example, in line 23 the thunder is described as loving. Since when does thunder have emotions? These are some...

The Bible Means What It Says - and That Is the End of the Matter

...fundamentalists who believe the Bible should be taken literally as it is the direct word of god; another example is liberalists who believe that the Bible is more a set of guidelines that should be interpreted to modern day to help conquer more contemporary issues such as abortion and euthanasia. An argument that would disagree with the statement put forward is that by not taking the Bible at face value and looking deeper you can find its true meaning. Some people are put off believing in the Bible due to unrealistic stories within it such as the creation account instead of looking at it as a metaphor which makes it easier to understand and still maintains the meaning and teachings of the Bible. The method of hermeneutics (the art of interpretation) also enables us to put stories into context and discover the deeper meaning that can make sense to our present day. It also helps us to relate the bible to contemporary issues such as IVF Treatment as issues like that were not present when the Bible was written. This is supported by Bultmann who believes by interpreting the bible it allows Christianity to be understood from a wider range of perspectives and that it lets us demythologise it. Another point that disagree with this statement is that if the Bible says what it means, then it makes it very hard for a reader to grasp a complete understanding of it. This is because of the many contradictions in the Bible such as in...

Lorna Simpson

...The narrative next to Lorna Simpsons’ works in the video completely change the way people interpret the painting. Most of her paintings deal with the issue of sex. One example is the clock tower picture with the two clocks next to each other. What seems to be a normal work of art is further explained by the text next to the painting. It tells of a couple trying to figure out the best time and place to engage in their intimate act. They end up deciding on the rooftop conference hall, at a quarter to. I never would have interpreted the painting to mean this, if not for the narrative. This is one of the most dramatic changes throughout all her works. The reason being I think the clock painting changes the most with the added text starts with the painting’s subject. The painting itself doesn’t include any people in it, so when you are interpreting the painting, people as a subject are probably the last thing on anyone’s mind. The main subject of the painting is the building with a clock on each visible face. The narrative completely changes the subject to a couple trying to find the best place to have sex. No other painting I feel deviates so far from the subject. Most of the paintings seemed unrelated to the narrative, but the one that stuck out the most was the hotel room work. The narrative begins with the hotel security knocking on the door telling how they do not have privacy like they do in the penthouse suite. The security also makes a little racist comment saying how they...

...foundational essays of the theoretical approach, contextual sources of the text’s and author’s time period and life, critical reviews and essays that vary in topics and approaches to reading the text and/or theory. Required Steps to Approaching this Essay: 1. You will include existing interpretations (minimum of 3 sources; must be from a peer-reviewed scholarly journal). There are many ways readers interpret text(s) in part or in whole, so one way to narrow the search is to find particular theoretical interpretations as a focus as well. For example, you may choose feminism as the theory and see how various feminists have interpreted your chosen text(s). POTENTIAL TRAP: focusing on another’s argument rather than your own. 2. You will include cultural/historical context for making the literature matter (minimum of 2 sources; these can be biographical, historical, or cultural sources depending on the paper’s focus). Not only is the author’s cultural/historical information a possibility to look into, but also the context presented within the text itself may prove useful. POTENTIAL TRAP: using the essay as merely an information dump rather than using the context to argue an interpretation. 3. You will include primary sources (that means the literature itself and any author interviews; minimum of 3 sources). Possible Approach to this Essay: 4. You may focus on using the literature as a springboard to discuss social issues. Making old(er) literature matter to today’s issues...

Body Language

...Abstract Body language is the language the body speaks even when a person is done speaking. There are many different types of actions and behaviors that make up a person’s body language. Their meaning depends on the person performing the behavior’s intent and how the other person interprets the behaviors. Body Language Being able to read a person’s mind is something that psychic’s claim to be able to do, however, what they are actually able to do is read a person’s body language. As a non-verbal form of communication, body language is expressed through facial expressions, body movements, gestures, and posture. James Borg states that human communication consists of 93 percent body language and paralinguistic cues, while only 7 percent of communication consists of words themselves (Wikipedia). Most people are guilty of trying to read a person’s mind by interpreting their body language through the many interactions we have on a daily basis. Although research may indicate that certain body language might be a sign of a certain thought or behavior, reading a person’s body language is not an exact science and can often be misinterpreted. Depending on how a person was raised or where they live will determine if eye contact is acceptable or not. In many countries it is considered rude to make eye contact. In most of the United States, however, it is consider rude not to make eye contact with a person. One might believe that the person is not listening, not paying attention,...
