Critical Thinking

The definition of critical thinking is learning to think for and to develop your own independent opinions, backed by sound reasoning and support. Critical thinking also describes the deliberate thinking that helps you to decide on what to believe and how to act. It helps to examine a problem or issue from many angles to arrive at the best possible solution. There are several steps involved in this process the first of which is, to identify the problem. Often time a problem may not even exist, perhaps it is a misunderstanding. The next step if it is determined a problem exists is to analyze or look at it from different angles. By looking at it from different perspectives you may be able to develop a resolution immediately or determine if help is needed. Once the situation is analyzed it time to brainstorm. Make a list of possible solutions then narrow it down to the best few. Now that a list of solutions has been established its time to decide which solution is the best. Lastly, take action. All situations have a solution even if it is to accept it and move on. There are benefits to becoming a critical thinker because it enables one to lead a more fruitful or enriched life through analyzing of our own beliefs and practices, and those of others. This ability to analyze maximizes a freedom to make responsible choices with respect to those beliefs and practices. Additionally, it provides individuals with a resource to envision paradigms of thinking and action which stimulate continual intellectual, moral, and personal growth. Having the ability to act as a critical thinker is making a commitment to life-long learning. As a society, more critical thinking would enable us to be more honest with ourselves/others and to admit what we don't know. People would not be afraid to admit fault and be able to learn from our mistakes. Our beliefs would

Differences Between Romeo And Juliet Act 3 Scene 1

...Tybalt because now Romeo has married Juliet and him and Tybalt are family. “Tybalt, the reason that I have to love thee doth much excuse the appertaining rage to such greeting. Villian am I none. Therefore, farewell. I see thou know’st me not”(Rom. 3.1.33-36). Tybalt does not know why Romeo is saying that, but the audience and Romeo know that he means that he is married to Juliet and therefore cannot fight Tybalt. Shakespeare wrote this scene this is a tragedy play, but however he made the play like a rollercoaster, he could not have made the play just having all serious scenes. He added romance, comedy, and tragedy all together in one play to keep the audience “On the edge of their seats” as some people may say. The audience will be more intersted in the play if it has different styles, instead of just them saying “Oh look more tragedy” they will be able to say “This play is great! I loved the romance and comedy added to the play.” ...

...Scuba diving is dangerous Joe and Jake are going on vacation , Joe says “hey man while we are on vacation let’s go SCUBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) diving.” Jake tells him that he does not want to go because it is too dangerous and people have been killed. In this report I will talk about how SCUBA diivng has changed peoples lives, giving them hope when they thought there was nothing to live for. I am also going to talk about the advancements in SCUBA equipment and trainig. I will also talk about how many people have actually been hurt or killed while diving, in different areas of the world. When it comes to the dangers of SCUBA diving, which is what we are all intersted in, I found that most of the injuries or deaths were not from the acutal act of SCUBA diving. Some of them were from free diving which just goes to show that if you have the proper equipment then you will be prepared for almost any contingency. On the other hand there are some things that are beyond your control. According to the the article Scuba Diving Accident Statistics, 38 percent of the scuba fataliies have been caused by cardiac incient, trauma, DCS, loss of condiousness, or inappropriate gas. In the same article it showed that 33 percent of the fatalaties were from drowning. 29 percent were from an Arterial Gas Emobolism, which is caused when the diver holds his breath while coming to the surface. Personal Narrative: The Thank You Economy

...to pretend to sell something over the phone, I used a trick I had learned somewhere years earlier. I smiled. You can't help but sound happy when you talk and smile at the same time. Actually, that's not completely true. You can also sound psychotic. The point isn't that an inbound marketer always literally smiles. It is that their attitude should always be so infectious that is makes other want to be around them and know them. Always be seeing In sales, since the salesperson is always closing, there must be a certain product or service they are trying to close on. Take for example a used car salesperson. From the moment you walk onto the car lot, they will ask you a series of questions to find out what kind of a vehicle you are intersted in buying. Though, once they find a vehicle within range of the type of vehicle you want, that is somewhere within range of what you can pay, they will try to sell it to you. They don't care if you only make $10 an hour. They will convince you that you can afford that $15,000 car. In inbound marketing, it's important to always see your customer's problems from their perspective and offer them solutions that will help them to solve their pain points. Don't try to sell them something they can't afford, rather offer them something that will add value to them and their business. Always be listening...

Edo Era in Japan

...BMW is one of a very few companies that is intersted in truly knowing people before selling them a car. Immersing themselves into a culture helps them to best design a car to that group, helping them to love the driving experience, not just get from point A to point B. The drivers in Germany and the US have very different needs and BMW has made sure to take note of those differences, and they are reflected in Checkered Flag BMW in the available inventory. The same distinctions can now be made for the Chinese counterparts at BMW. The company created a design lab in China that takes into account every aspect of Chinese life and makes a BMW that is reflective of the people’s needs. BMW Shanghai: Driving in mega cities, designing the future and more By Seyth Miersma A few days before the Shanghai Motor Show kicked off, we were part of an international group of media that was invited to have a look at the BMW Designworks Shanghai Studio and ConnectedDrive Lab facility. The building that BMW found to house its Chinese think tank is in a lovely part of Shanghai known as the former French Concession. The late 1890s and early 1900s French architectural style, brick-paved streets and tree-lined spaces feel a world apart from the ultra-modern heart of Shanghai, and the BMW enclave is a suitable mix of high-tech and throwback cool. We were visiting, in short, to understand just why BMW has found it important to have design and research capability in China. As it turns out...

How Did The Vietnam War Change Australia's Anti-War Movement

...civilian casualties while chanting slogans protesting the Vietnam war and handing out scores of leaflets. The demonstrators included members of the Communist Party, the Waterside Workers' Federation, the ALP youth body and the 'Save Our Sons' movement as well as university students. Next to police cars, 15 radio cars found their place in the demonstration to report about the movement to show their reports to the Australians on the television. The demonstration obviously was an anti-conscription movement, because the included organisation are popular for being opposition of the governments policy of conscription and the protestor also demonstrated against the American policy in Vietnam. This newspaper article also shows that reporters were intersted on the demonstration to include their reports into the daily television program. The anti-war movements in Australia, the USA and other countries like China were winning a lot of arguments and were changing the attitudes of the people by mobilising the masses of people in the action against their own government's policies. Australia's government of Robert Menzies was sending the first combat troops to Vietnam in May 1965, with the reason that this action was in Australia's national interest to “involve the United States in Southeast Asia and that Australian participation in the Vietnam conflict would encourage this.“ The previous leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP), Arthur Calwell opposed conscription, which was announced in November...

Ebay and Ecommerce

...EBAY introduction:- The eBay platform offers an unprecedented opportunity to build a new eBay business or expand your current business, reach new customers, and create a potential new stream of revenue. Leverage the resources of the eBay Developers Program to tap into eBay's marketplace of over 200 million users with tools and services that meet the diverse needs of buyers and sellers on eBay. History of eBay:- eBay was founded in Pierre Omidyar's San Jose living room back in September 1995. It was from the start meant to be a marketplace for the sale of goods and services for individuals. In 1998, Pierre and his cofounder Jeff Skoll brought in Meg Whitman to sustain the success. Meg had studied at the Harvard Business School and had learned the importance of branding at companies such as Hasbro. Meg culled her senior staff from companies such as Pepsico and Disney, created an experienced management team with an average of 20 years of business experience and built a strong vision for the company -- that eBay is a company that's in the business of connecting people, not selling them things. They quickly shed the image of only auctioning collectibles and moved into an array of upscale markets where the average sale price (ASP) is higher. ASP is a key metric in determining eBay's transaction fees, so increasing the ASP became an important item. By forging partnerships with namebrands such as GM, Disney and Sun, eBay has managed to do...

Environmental and Consumer Influences Analysis

...Environmental and Consumer Influences Analysis Hilary Sievers PSY/322 May 20, 2013 Morgan Cloward Environmental and Consumer Influences Believe it or not, there is a science behind consumer behavior. Specifically in the financial industry, there are various factors within the environment that drive the behavior and psychology of investors. In fact, whether the consumers consciously know it or not, many companies take these factors into significant consideration when planning and executing the marketing strategy for a brand or product. Factors such as motives, perception, attitudes, personality, family, and social class are the mold for psychological considerations in marketing; while external factors, such as social, political, and ecological also have a fundamental impact on consumer decisions as well. In the financial industry, consumers have historically had a tight grip on the direction of the market based on the trends in the environment around them. Psychological Variables The primary motive for investors is easy; to secure the foundation of a financially sound future for either themselves and/or their family likewise. In some situations, affluent investors are also looking to multiply their millions. The abstract of all situations, however, is driven by the human need for financial gain. Or, is it? Maybe the feeling of “need” is realistically a “want”. Let’s consider some of the other psychological factor of investors...

Animated Movies for Adults

...children. I think about one of my cult animated film : Paprika ( directed by Satoshi Kon) which is a reference in animation, all the film is a thinking about the border between reality and fiction. It's an idea that children cannot really understand and even if the graphism is really advanced and touching, they loose an half of the film's interest. This kind of movies offers also a research about characters which is more intersting (for me) than in infant films because the directors work about the human's complexity whith accuracy. I think it's important for adults and teenagers to recognize themselves throught the characters in the film. They can play with stereotypes because adults can understand them. For example, if adults are more intersted by Silvain Chaumet's films than children, it's (in part) because of the numerous strereotypes which people and give life in his films. We understand his message, his society critical, things which don't really exist in children films. Moreover, make this kind of movie it's more free because there is not "youth protection" or things like that. Directors can use violence, shock, delicate society subjects to exprim their ideas and I think it's very interesting to mix this freedom of expression and the poetry of drawings, art experimentations. It's a subtil way to talk about subjects which are sometimes harsh. There are a lot of example... Jin Roh ( by Iroyuki Okiura) is an animated movie very poetic, with long shots, with moments, in the film...
